"Oaknoll Retirement Residence is a top notch facility. There is a waiting list for the facility and I think that says a lot. People can't wait to get into the facility because it's known as the best in the area. On our local radio station you here a famous radio personality (and senior citizen) Dottie Ray talk about the highlights of the facility and based on my experiences she is spot on. Everyone is very friendly, the facility is very clean, and I feel like my grandmother is in good hands. Before we made our decision for our grandmother we visited a number of facilities in the local area. There were some very questionable places and once we visited Oaknoll we knew that we had found the best place. They offer shuttle service and my grandmother loves this feature because she likes to visit the Sycamore Mall and the Coral Ridge Mall. She has met a number of friends and she feels like she has a great network of people to talk with and take part in activities with as well. "

"We have moved into Legacy Retirement Community. We are pleased with the facility itself. We were in another assisted living prior to this. This was quite a bit cheaper per month for a larger apartment. It's an overall nicer apartment. For staffing, it seemed to be much better staffed than where we had been before. We haven't gotten involved in activities yet, but they do have activities."

"both my mother and my late aunt, her sister were residents of Emerson Point . I cannot say enough about the caring and attentive nature of both staff and administration. it is my firm belief Renee, my mother's nurse saved her life in the fall of 2013 with her swift action. The facility is clean and very comfortable. A special shout-out to the aides who remain patient and caring. Thank you allowing me to feel at ease having my mother under your care. Kudos!!! "

"I found Melrose Meadows Retirement Community to be very nice, light, and pleasant. One of the nicest things was the pool. The dining room and everything that was presented was very nice. The staff was very helpful and gave me all the information that I requested. I saw a studio room and saw that I would have to bring my own furniture in. "

"I went with my sister to Brown Deer Place, and it was very nice and very pleasant. I thought that the amenities were not quite as appealing as the other place, and the staff was not as approachable, but I would say that the facility itself was really nice. It's close to the Iowa River landing and Coral Ridge Mall is near there. It's a brick place in the front, it's kind of facing a corner, and it's in a nice area. The model apartment that they showed us was really nice, it was much larger than what my sister needed, and it was really beautiful. The dining room was also really nice. The thing that I noticed about Brown Deer Place was that it was more formal than the other place we've seen. My sister is a very informal person who doesn't feel comfortable in a formal setting. So that was something that stood out, and it explained why she felt more comfortable in the other place than she did at Brown Deer. I think that for people who who enjoy a more formal setting, then they would feel more comfortable at Brown Deer."

"We are very pleased with Country View and the living situation. We like it because it's not hospital-like and very homey. The staff is very friendly and caring. They serve homecooked meals, and Mom loves them. "

"The facility was very nice, but I found the atmosphere very sad and dull. My grandpa had to stay there for some time because he had gotten surgery and my grandma could not take care of him. I saw the food that he got to eat for lunch and it just looked and smelled really really bad. Also, the whole place is so gray and dull, the walls are white, the carpeting in gray, there are no posters anywhere, I don't know why anyone would want to stay there. Pets are not allowed, and I thought that that was so sad because my grandpa loves his cats and he was not even able to see them. When I went to visit, they had to check who we were and it took forever to make the nurses accept us into the facility. They were really really slow and no at all active. the room he stayed in was nice, the bed looked comfortable, and it had one chair in it, so my grandma could sit down when she went to visit him. his room also had a nice tv propped on the wall, so he could watch his favourite shows. "

"The staff at Pioneer Park are very kind, compassionate and caring. The apartments are an excellent choice for a parent who has to leave their home but is not quite ready for a nursing home. It is very clean, well kept and the food is nicely presented family style with all of the residents sitting at the table together. The memory care unit is a perfect choice for a family who wants the small town feel. "

"My father had a much better time in the hospital than in assisted living. In the assisted living center, they came and worked with him only a few hours each day, whereas in the hospital, they worked with him the majority of the day. Also, in the facility, there would be patients out walking the hallways in the middle of the night yelling at the top of their lungs, making it very hard to sleep. Overall, I would never use this assisted living facility in the future. "

"My sister stayed in the memory care side of Parkview Manor where she was taken good care of. My sister had a bedroom with an attached bath with toilet and sink, but she had to go down the hall to use the showers. The staff was very good, kind, and went out of their way to meet, even exceed, my sister's needs. She didn't particularly like the food there as she's vegetarian and she often struggled to find something that she enjoyed eating."

"My mom and stepdad are at Corridor Crossing Place. I have been in their room and the dining area. The staff is very friendly. As far as I know, they have a chapel, and from what I understand, they've got some kind of clergy. They got a spa there. I keep wanting to turn into that room and go to the spa. My stepdad can't eat very much because it hurts his mouth, but he does eat there so the food must be acceptable to him. The staff has been very friendly. However, it's kind of confusing to get around the facility. It's clean, it's well built, and there's no obvious dirt anywhere. They keep it clean. They got bus trips, field trips, bingo, painting, and chairs calisthenics. I would get into them."

"I chose Amana Retirement Community Lakeview Village. The price was much better and I didn't have to make a deposit. The staff was very good and it has a very good reputation. There's nursing home care, independent living and assisted living. I can choose from those depending on the need that I have at the time that I enter there. I inquired about independent. The rent was very reasonable and affordable for independent living and for nursing home care. A large private room in the nursing home wing was 235 for a daily rate. They had an exercise room, a recreation room and activities. I'm familiar with the administrator and I feel good about her. Everything is well done and taken care of there."

"My mom moved into The Gardens of Cedar Rapids. It's ten minutes from my house and from my grandchildren, and that was a big thing. If she would have to go into assisted living, she does not need to move from the apartment that she's in, and that was a big plus. They have a beautician that comes in by appointment. They also have a bath technician by appointment, where you can have a spa-type thing that my mom was really excited about. They have activities that you can go to. They have a community area where they have happy hour. They provide music and entertainment for the residents. They did some special things for Valentine's Day, which I thought was very thoughtful. They have a big area with a TV and a fireplace where families can meet. They provide three meals a day, and my mom seems to be enjoying the meals. They provide a cleaning service and laundry. The cable is included in the price. The staff has just been terrific. They've been very friendly and helpful. It's a very nice-looking facility, inside and out."
