I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Do not send your loved ones here!!! I feel very lucky to have gotten my husband out of here alive. The management here is absolutely the worst!!! The charge nurses are rude to family and to the patients. The nurses that work under them, I feel very sorry for them, most of them were very nice and careing, as were the aides. They left my husband lying for hours in pools of urine staring at the ceiling. This place should be shut down.

I am/was a resident of this facility

Bottom line - i wouldn't kennel a pet at this place, let alone a love one! Very VERY poor management - for the most part they have a great nursing staff, the problem is they are usually way understaffed. Many times there being only one nurse for an area that's suppose to be covered by three, same for the nurse's aids! I called for a nurse once so she could remove an empty antibiotic bulb from my pic line - four, yes FOUR HOURS later she came in saying she was never informed - I had hit my call light three different times and told an aid what I needed. From then I wouldn't allow them to shut my call light off until service was given. They do have a top-notch occupational and physical therapy department. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff there. The food - absolutely horrible! I was told by the head dietitian they they use no salt in their kitchen. Until I insisted upon it I was allowed no salt with my meals so you have no idea how terribly bland the food tasted, salt didn't end up helping much. Menu items were questionable as well, why would you serve Brussel sprouts knowing many patients will not care for them, especially when they are way overcooked! On one Saturday evening Supper was basically hot dog & sour krauth. Squash & uneatable green beans were often served. The beverage for EVERY meal besides breakfast - Kool Aid. I sent a picture of my breakfast to my son one morning - he ask me why I sent him a picture of my being sick, that I told him, was my breakfast - biscuit & gravy. Many times I ended up not eating the meal served - if you asked they would serve a replacement which usually was something like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich or grilled cheese. Never again will I ever be placed at a Golden Living Center!

My husband is in Golden Livingcenter - Sycamore Village. The help has called me. I only got to see him once and it was last week. They're very good about it, they let me know everything, the care is great, the doctors call me and stuff, but I haven't really seen it up close and personal. He seems to be comfortable there.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My wife was at Golden LivingCenter - Sycamore Village for rehab. She went out last Friday. The service was great, as well as the people that they had working back there. She was in their assisted living when she broke her hip. They replaced the ball and she went into rehab. All the people were good, but you could tell it was an old facility. The food didn't look too bad.

These are some of the rudest staff I have ever met! I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother is in the Alzheimer's unit of Golden Living Center, and I appreciate that it is clean and bright, and it doesn't smell. There are not a lot of residents, and it is not crowded. Also, the more advanced Alzheimer's patients are separate from the ones that are mobile and so forth. The staff is wonderful. I have not met one that seems to be frustrated or impatient. They take time with her. They say my mom is easy to direct, and they re-direct her easily. They hug her -- she likes that -- and she hugs them. She loves them. They are very friendly, very professional, and very personable. On admission, the person that I talked to told me not to hesitate to let them know if I have a concern. She says they do want to please the family. So, when I get her to the Alzheimer's unit, they tell me don't let it build and let them know, and I really appreciate that. Yesterday, I had my first evaluation for my mom, and I just wrote down everything that I am concerned about -- you know, the questions and everything. They keep reassuring me, "Anything, let us know." When my mom is not feeling well and I tell them, they go right on it. They call the doctor. They just don't ignore you. I don't have any complaints.
