"I've been here at Prairie Place Assisted Living for about three weeks now. It is a wonderful community. The staff is outstanding. Laundry is supposed to be once a week, but when they see you've got laundry when they come in the room, they scoop it up. Laundry is done every day. I'm very immobile, so they help me in and out of bed and I have a hospice worker coming in to help me soak in the tub. They've been wonderful and open to my suggestions and my opinions. It's a good place. There are a couple of younger workers, and I don't think they're prepared for the job yet. If you have any problems, the staff is quick to address them. They'll come to your room and find out what's going on and why you're upset or anything. They're very friendly. They get their job done. It's a clean facility. Their food is decent. Right now, I'm on the CBRF side. I have these episodes where I'm down for two or three days and then they're worried because all I want to do is sleep and it's hard to wake me up even to take my medication. They're very encouraging, and they're not forceful here. You have the right to refuse your medicine and you have the right to refuse your baths. People come in and sing, they all load up in cars, and they go listen to music. I participated in a couple. There's bingo and they'll bring in different pictures and prints of fall leaves and pumpkins and stuff like that for us to color and we can decorate our door or wherever. We had dog therapy yesterday and they try to come every month, but they were here yesterday, so it was sweet. It's always clean, it's beautiful, and it's decorated. The cleaning lady vacuums, even the girls that are CNs come in your room and if they see something that needs to be done and they got time, they go ahead and do it."

"KindredHearts seemed really nice. There were independent rooms with living rooms and a little kitchenette and a bedroom and bathroom that were on a lower level. It seemed like a really nice size. We saw a studio type apartment in the assisted living part of the facility that was a nice size, as well. The peopled seemed very nice. They had a dining room that looked really clean and nice, plus an activity room and sitting room that looked really comfortable. It was very clean and orderly. "

"I looked at Aspire Senior Living Oshkosh. It was brand new and very nice. They have somebody come in and help you clean. You would have your meals, and you have everything there that you would need. They had a nice little walking path north of the building, which was really nice. They had some outside space with little tables. There was a table on your apartment deck or patio. Some of the independent living apartments had washers and dryers, but all had refrigerators and microwaves. The staff who gave me the tour was very nice and very helpful."

"My mother is at The Marquardt. I like it a lot. It's beautiful and it's very well kept and lots of staff are around. She's able to participate in a lot of activities and stays busy. It's very nice. Her room is gorgeous. She has a two-bedroom apartment and it's almost 1000 square feet. It has vinyl floors in the living areas and carpeted bedrooms, one-and-a-half bathrooms, and a full washer and dryer. It's very, very pretty. One whole wall of the living space is windows. They have card clubs, book clubs, and coffee, and there's a group that she goes out to dinner with at least once a week. There are a few people from her church that live there, so she has a ride to church. It's close to the hospital, so her doctor stops in regularly and sees her and her physical therapist comes to her place twice a week. It's pretty much full-service. In their independent living facilities, it's beautiful and very nice. I've never seen anything out of place or a speck of dirt. I had several meals there. One day I had a club salad. Another day I had a lobster roll. We went to the Fish Fry a couple of times. We had a Reuben sandwich. It's a very, very nice dining place. Value for money is very good. The prices are very reasonable."

"The day my husband and I moved into Cedar Ridge, we knew we had made the right decision. The timing was perfect – we no longer wanted the responsibilities and duties associated with a large home so it was time to enjoy a more carefree life. And such a carefree life it is! We are constantly amazed at the variety of activities available. For card players there is Bridge, Canasta, Cribbage and Sheepshead. There are book clubs, support and discussion groups, a weekly Coffee Hour with guest speakers, and many monthly entertainment events to choose from. There are acres of natural space for walking and exploring. The fully equipped gym is perfect for my exercise program and a swim in the pool followed by a few relaxing minutes in the hot tub is one of my favorite treats. For spiritual needs there are weekly and monthly chapel services for all faiths. A perfect day may include lunch at the Market Café or dinner at the Top of the Ridge Restaurant. One of my favorite days is when my housekeeper arrives to clean our apartment. I have often compared living at Cedar Ridge to staying at a lovely hotel. During the first few weeks here I kept expecting a call telling me “Your vacation is over – you must go home now”. Then I remembered that we really ARE “home now”, in our comfy apartment, surrounded by dear friends, and having a wonderful time! I think my husband completely summed this up when he remarked – “this is just like old times only with new friends”. Those few words describe Cedar Ridge exactly! "
