"I toured Mira Vie at Fanwood, and I liked it a lot. It was in the center of town. You could walk to some stores, and I liked that. It was very clean. It was a place that I would be interested in, but it was a little over my price range. The one-bedroom was nicely laid out and very clean. The staff was nice. They even gave me a little goody bag to leave with and made fresh baked scones. It was an excellent place."

"I toured The Willows Home. It's lovely. I talked to a couple of residents, and they're very happy there. The nurse said that they have three meals a day, entertainment, and a beautiful common room. The bedrooms were very nice. The entire place is clean, but it's not what we're looking for right now. The dining area was lovely. They have a beautiful dining table, and everyone has a place at the table. She showed me the well-stocked kitchen. They have three hot meals a day, plus snacks are available to the residents. The staff was very gracious and very understanding. She showed me around, a very nice lady. The facility was very clean and had a very pleasant smell. The bathrooms were clean. The toilets were clean. I have nothing bad to say about it. It was a very nice place. They're somewhere I would consider if they had the accessibility that my father needs right now."

"I liked the New Nautilus Hotel. It was clean. They had a lot of activities right on the beach, and there were ocean views. They're very knowledgeable and very friendly. The apartment I saw had a little tiny space for a little refrigerator, counter, a bed, and a dresser. It was clean, nice, and efficient. It was large and had a lot of closet space. I saw a lot of people with the aides. Some people were walking around without any assistance. Some people had walkers. Some were in wheelchairs."

It was just a really nice apartment, beautiful, I liked the idea that they could have their meals brought over, but that the people are more cognitive and healthy, so of course my mother would have more socialization. The staff was informative, they seemed to be honest, and they shared a lot. It was clean."

"I decided to remain here. It's working out very well. I get excellent care. The staff is very caring. I have a lovely apartment, and I get two meals a day. There are many activities. I'm going to an art class in a few minutes. I'm organizing a singing group for the residents and I do a lot of writing. Some lecturers come in. Some films are shown. The location is spectacular. We're right on the Hudson River overlooking the Palisades in New Jersey. I can get a call for Access-A-Ride to take me into the city for doctors' appointments. They have vans that take us within Riverdale for doctors' appointments and shopping and things of that sort. It is an awesome place. The residents are from varied backgrounds and nationalities. It is a kosher facility, even though that's not my background. They just hired a new chef, and the food is improving and it improved. They're using me as a spokesperson for prospective residents, and I'm happy to give a wholehearted description of my experience here. Many people here have aides. I think they have an office that takes care of that. There are over 100 residents in the independent living facility at Riverwalk, and I observed the aides and how they interact. There's also physical therapy and O.T. that we get and they are wonderful. They're all trained in the Philippines and have excellent training. They care. They've helped me tremendously. They're helping me to start using a cane for getting around as opposed to only my walker. I can't say enough about it. I am very enthusiastic. I think they need to do more hiring in the kitchen, getting meals out in a timely fashion to serve over 100 people waiting to get their dinners. You have the option, at least so far, to have breakfast brought to you in your room. I don't go down to the dining room for breakfast. I fill out a menu every day and they bring me what I have ordered in a small shopping bag, and everything is always in it. I can use them for my lunch, for instance, because we're not served lunch. They're kind people, they care, they establish close friendships, and they take their work very seriously. I can't say enough about it. The scenic setting on the banks of the Hudson and the fact that I can get into the city quickly and because of the MTA, I only pay under $3 each way, and often I'm the only one in the car. I can get into the city for my doctor's appointments or whatever, even to have lunch with a friend in 40 minutes. The location is important to me and it's working out very well. There is a warm water pool that's available to the tenants three days a week. They have lifeguards, and it's just across the driveway. I have looked into one or two other places and I think Riverwalk at least for my apartment is lower than what I've been quoted by a few other places. I pay a little more than $4000 a month, but I get the two meals, someone comes and makes my bed every single day, and they do my laundry. I think I get very good value. The new chef has only been here for a few days, but already everyone around me is saying the food is better and there are more choices. He's making an effort. If he's here longer, he'll improve on that as well."

"My mom has been living at The Villas since October 2019. She was very reluctant to move to such a place but, the moment we walked in she fell in love! Not only is it new but also beautiful!! She feels as if she’s living in a 5 star hotel. I, of course, was concerned about her care and the staff. We have found that both are on a level far exceeding expectations. The staff is loving and kind always having a smile and kind word for everyone. The quality of care is first rate and even in these very hard times has proven to be wonderful. Our entire family is delighted that we have chosen the Villas as my moms home. "

"I went down to Quality Home Residence yesterday, and I didn't like what I saw. I didn't want to live in a private house like that. I don't like that. I live in a palace. It's beautiful here. We have a nice apartment here. I didn't like the area at Quality Home Residence. I'm a veteran, and I'm going to pursue a place where Veterans would pay most of it. However, $4200 a month living in that place is ridiculous. Where I'm living now, I don't spend that kind of money. It's like a house in a rural area. I went down there, and the grass is growing in the yard. I'm not looking for anything like that. I would rather stay where I'm at, which is nice, and have in-home care for a couple of days a week, just to give me a break. It would be much cheaper because the VA will pay for four hours for five days, and it's not costing me anything out of my pocket. The staff was good. They tried to explain everything to us, but after I saw the place, I didn't want to live in a house. I looked around, and I found this other place down here in Monroe Township, affordable housing for seniors. It's nice, and it's a luxury thing. To go down to Quality Home Residence is like going backwards. We are in our 80s, and we want to make sure that we live comfortably. They didn't have any amenities, and in the area, the grass needed cutting. People were sitting on a porch. They could improve the appearance of the house. It's clean and everything."

"Meadowview Assisted Living at The Wartburg Adult Care Community was very nice. I like their independent living facility and they are not very pricey. The staff were all very friendly and nice. The amenities were all nice. Their common dining room was also nice and this is where both the assisted living residents and the independent living residents go to. I would recommend this facility to others. "

"The Esplanade at Palisades provided a lot of information. It was a very thorough tour. I saw the entire location and different activities. They showed me the different rooms that they had. They showed me the services that they can provide. With regards to their rooms, there are multiple options. For the lower cost, they have shared rooms, but I don't know if those would work for my mom, but it's worth considering. And it was nice to see that they have an option to make it affordable. The staff who gave the tour was really good and knowledgeable. She shared a lot of information. She was enthusiastic, too. They had a courtyard, but it was raining, so I didn't go outside."

"I placed my mother at New Broadview Manor last Thursday. She seems to be transitioning well, and everything seems to be moving along. What stood out were the staff and the residents. They seemed very satisfied and happy with their treatment and conditions. It's a very diverse community, which was an important part for her. The staff especially seemed very willing to do whatever it takes to try to help us in our decision making. They had all kinds of social activities. They gave me a calendar showing what they typically do for each day of the month. The doctors come to the facility twice a week. "
