Welcome to Carleton Co-op Apartments! Carleton Co-op is a 47-unit senior community in the small, rural town of Carleton, Michigan. It is conveniently located within five miles of the 1-275 expressway, in northern Monroe county. Carleton Co-op is nationally recognized as, "A Community of Quality," by the National Affordable Housing Management Association. The property was completed in 1993 and provides apartments for ages 62+. The co-op represents the enjoyment and freedom that comes with affordable living. There are a few members who are still permitted to smoke in their own apartments, because they signed a waiver prior to the full implementation of the new smoking rules. All new members as of March 8, 2017, are not allowed to smoke inside their own apartment. "My loved one has moved into Orchard Hills Living. The overall experience was very good. They deliver the services for the most part that they advertised and put in their brochure. They have hardworking and kind caregivers. My loved one is more content and happier there. I don't seem to see the tension, stress, or fear I saw at the other place. It would be nice to get more staff though."

"We toured Flat Rock Towers Co-op. The rooms are very large and have a lot of closet space and good safety features. All the amenities that I like are there. It's got everything you need. In the outside sitting area, there's a river right outside where you can sit by the river if you want. It's just very nice and relaxing-looking. The staff was so nice to me and my daughter. She just showed me everything and tried to explain everything, and as we went along with people that we kind of ran into, she would introduce us, and those people would tell us that it's a nice place to live. She was very knowledgeable about what was happening there, the bulletin boards, and how you keep up on what's happening outside like in the area, the churches, and stuff where they would have their bazaars. It was just lovely. I liked her. She made me feel so comfortable and welcome. It was an older establishment, but it was very clean."

"I'm living in American House Southland's independent living. I get my meals, but I can also pick them up and bring them back home. I like that. I also like that they come in once a week, vacuum, change my linens, and wash my towels. That's just some of the stuff that they do here. If I want, I could get my medication delivered and they can help me with that but I don't need it because I can do that myself. They have stuff that you could do with the group like movies and stuff like that. They also have an Easter thing that's happening this week which I don't know if I'll take part in. I haven't gone there but I believe they have a place where you can get your haircut or, I'm sure, washed or stuff like that. All their apartments have a patio. I got one too, it's a nice patio and I have 2 chairs out there. Now that it has warmed up a little bit, I can just go sit there if I like and enjoy the day. The staff are very nice people. I get along with them fine. I do like it here. It's just a little more expensive and I need something a little cheaper. I got a 2-bedroom apartment and I'm only paying $1600 a month but still, that's all too much with what I get from Social Security and disability. I'm looking for something in the range of about $1000 a month. The food could be a little better but I like the service and the people are nice and everything. I've enjoyed the few activities that I have done like dancing. They have a person come in and sing songs and I've gone down and listened to that too. It's like a little concert. Maybe they should make it cheaper to keep residents a little longer. A couple of people have moved out because of the cost."

"Moving my parents into Hampton Manor of Woodhaven was the best decision we ever made. The staff truly care about the residents and treat them like family. The building is always clean, warm, and welcoming, and my parents have settled in so well. They’re happy, comfortable, and well cared for — and that gives our whole family peace of mind. "My mother in-law was in another facility for over two years and the quality of service never matched the amount we were paying. Since she moved to America House, Venoy in Westland there is a world of difference in her care. She is always clean, her room has no odor, her attitude is almost 100% better. She said, these people are good to me and I couldn’t ask for better people to care for me."

"American House had friendly people, and it was very clean. The people were also very attentive. They seemed to always check on their patients to make sure everything was OK. The food was good, and the activities were great. I saw a one-bedroom with a walk-in closet and walk-in bathroom. It had brand new carpets, a refrigerator, a stove, and a sink. Everything was perfect. They had bingo, date nights, and movie nights. "

"I like that American House Westland Joy has a large variety of activities and that the individuals are involved in them. Today, they went down for a small music concert and my mom has played bingo at least once and she enjoyed it. Both my mom and dad are in an apartment that has a full kitchen, two bedrooms, and a living room. As you walk in the door, you could see the residents in the main lobby socializing. I visited quite a few different facilities and some of their hallways would be empty, but not this one. There are people out and about and people are wanting to be out of their rooms. I think there's a good number of people who socialize in the public areas. Their staff has been very friendly, too."

"We went to Westhaven Manor. The woman that helped us tour the place was amazing. All the facilities were just amazing and they had a walk-in tub. They had everything that we were looking for. It seemed to me that this would be a place that my grandma would enjoy because of the community and the staff was wonderful. I couldn't ask for anything more. The rooms were great, clean, and upkept. I love that each apartment has a little balcony that they could sit on and that's something that I know my grandma would enjoy. We saw the menu, and there was more selection and it was cheaper. There were things on that menu that my grandma probably would have ordered. They had people working on puzzles. They had a sign-up sheet to go to like Randazzo's, which is a fruit market, and go to Dollar Tree, and Wal-Mart. They have barbecues and stuff in the summer for the residents. There were just a lot of activities, bible study, and stuff that I could see my grandma kind of getting involved in. It was wonderful to the point where this is the option that I'm going to talk to my grandma about."

"Hampton Manor of Trenton is beautiful. I wanted to go there. I didn't see the meals, but the dining rooms were nice. The rooms needed a little more friendliness to them. They were kind of cold and sterile. The only thing I didn't like about them is that it costs $1500 just to walk through the door with a patient, like for them to do the paperwork on it or something. It's above and beyond what you would pay a month. I like that they give the patient's family a code to put in the door. That was a good deal. They have a courtyard, and during nice weather, the patients can get outside and enjoy the fresh air. They can't get to the road or anything like that. It's a really nice courtyard they could go to. The lady who toured us was very informative and very nice. She also straight-out told you what all the expenses were."

"A friend has already moved in to Ashford Court. It’s bright and cheerful, and the rooms are of good size. The people answered all our questions. Everything has been taken care of. They responded to some of her wishes, the food is good, and the people are very friendly. No complaints. "

"The people here are excellent. They help you, and they go beyond helping. The rooms are wonderful. They have a movie room, and they have all kinds of activities there for the residents. You pretty much have your freedom to do whatever you want to do."

"My mother is in American House. She has one-bedroom. It is a nice place for her so far. She receives good care from the staff. Their food and dining area are good from what I have observed. They have someone who comes by and plays music for them. They have activities like bingo and others. The place is quite expensive, but it is where my mother wants to be. "
