"My dad has been in Southern Oaks Assisted Living since the 5th of January. He had lots of friends that have lived there before, so he knew the place. It's a small facility, very homey, and there are only 30 residents, so that's nice. It's kind of like an extended family, and there's not too many people. The cook has been there for over 20 years and whenever dad suggests anything, he'll try to make it for him. Tanya has also been there for 25 years. I know the director, Sherry, and she is very helpful. My dad came from another facility and nobody helped us when we moved in or out of there, but at Southern Oaks, they all said, "Hey, what can we do?" They really helped out a lot. The only downside is the rooms are a little too small that he can't control his own temperature, but there are four people in there and somehow it's a little warm that you don't have to wear too many clothes. Their activities include watching movies."

"I visited Silverdale Senior Apartments. The apartment was smaller than the one I have now, and it would have been a little more expensive. It was a very nice facility. It's just that the room they had was an efficiency, and it was really small. I don't know how I was going to fit everything I had into it. They have larger apartments for higher prices, but they didn't have any other openings. There were several things I really liked. I liked the location. I liked the basic facility itself. It was clean, well-built, very nice, and looked comfortable. They had a washer and dryer unit. I didn't meet any of the staff, only the landlord. They have an option to provide lunch or dinner."

"I toured Thrive at Brow Wood. The staff was helpful. She took us on a tour and told us the different things that they do. They have a Wii and my brother used to bowl. They had a Wii with a bowling app so that he could sit in his wheelchair and act like he was bowling. The facilities were great. The layout was good. They had a lady there who helped them paint and showed them how to paint pictures. The activities director was nice. While we were there, we got to watch him. They were dancing. They were doing karaoke. That was delightful."

"About three months ago, I put mom in Regency House, and so far, the experience has been very good. I chose it because of its location and cost. They have a small exercise room. I haven't tried the food, but Mom always has positive comments. The staff is fine. "

"Everybody at Wellington Place was really nice. The lady that we talked to was very informative of everything. It was clean and well kept. However, price wise, it was just too expensive for what we were looking for. The rooms we saw didn't have a kitchen. They had a lot of things for the residents to do. "

"It was very nice. The staff was very nice. They had all kinds of amenities. They had a good-sized room with a theater in it with chairs that swivel, comfortable, padded chairs, like a living room chair. It might have held 25 or 30 people. They had a pool table and they do slow exercises and they had an exercise room. The efficiency had just one little partition between the bedroom and the living room, and it was so small. I could get my couch and chair and my television in it, but it would be crowded, and the closet was too small. The one-bedroom was nice, and it had a huge walk-in closet and a stackable washer and dryer. Neither one of those had a balcony and I want something I can walk outside on. They've got a huge deck built there in the back part that everybody could go to and sit outside. The only ones that had balconies were the two bedrooms. They toured me around and showed me about everything."

"Pleasant Valley was beautiful. It had a security fence all the way around it, and it's in a country setting. The rooms were spacious and spotless; it did not stink. It's a great community and I would personally put my dad there if they had the memory care that we needed. They're only assisted living. They have people that come in and sing, they have arts lessons, and they have an awesome staff. They also have bible study and music."

"The facility has a home type enviroment. My loved one lived at Summit View for many years. Staff were always willing to help in any way possible, House keeping was on point each week, the diatary staff went above and beyond providing extra food that my loved one preferred. In the end, the director of the facility helped me in so many ways with final arangments, who to contact, what to do, and I will always be greatful for that help during such a difficult time for me. My loved one was allowed to stay in his apartment during his process of leaving this earth as he wished to do so. Nursing was amazing and helped with decisions, oxygen, and any other need my loved one had at that time. At the end of it all, I can honestly say that Summit View will advocate for your loved one, they will help guide you when you are not sure exactly what to do, and they will treat you like family long after your loved one has left this earth. "I went here. They had a circular floor plan with a courtyard in the middle. Some of the room configurations were weird. We looked at a one-bedroom, which had a separate living space. The separate living room area was very small and it didn't have a window by where it was placed, so it seemed very dark. That's the only one we saw that was like that. The others weren't like that. We looked at both studios and one-bedrooms. Mom ran into a friend of hers and we ended up sitting in that lady's apartment talking for a long time after the tour. Nothing stood out in particular and Mom wasn't as drawn to here as she was to the other place and so I just sort of dismissed it in my mind. The staff was very nice. They had some kind of activity that we watched for a minute that was kind of fun. They had lined up the seniors across from each other in chairs. They were sword fighting with plastic pool noodles swinging them around in the air."

"Everyone that I talked to was very professional, caring, and tried to accommodate what I was looking for. The place was very clean, and all the residents looked like they were well cared for and happy. It was a beautiful place, and I was so impressed with it. They had a wonderful dining room, and they had 2 separate areas -- one for the people with memory problems and one for people who required less care. They had a beauty shop where somebody came and did haircuts, and the lady I talked to there was wonderful. They made me feel like family. It was a caring, nurturing, and encouraging environment."

"My aunt is staying at Signal Mountain Senior Living. She's happy there. She's met people. It's clean. They have lots of activities for them. They go on an excursion a couple of times a month. They take them on field trips and have different activities, like bingo, cards, and movie nights. They have flower arranging and different games and puzzles. They have live entertainment come in for them once in a while. They celebrate all the holidays. They have special dinners for different holidays and food festivals. The staff was very patient, fun, and accommodating. The food is good. They do have a salon, but they have a hard time keeping somebody working in the salon so that could use a little work. They have a physical therapy room, a library, and a movie room. They have a dining room and a beautiful area in the lobby where you can sit and visit."

"We liked the location of StoryPoint Chattanooga and the longevity of their staff. They had some activities and we saw where their dining area was. They also had a patio area. It was an older place, but there were probably some things that they could do to make it a little more homey in the memory care area. One of the hospitals is within five minutes from that facility, and then probably five minutes the opposite direction are a few fast food restaurants."

"My mom is a resident of Charter Senior Living of Cleveland, and it has excellent care. I love the family atmosphere and the attention. They're very clean. They have a beautiful courtyard, too. We chose this for our mom, because number one, it is close to home. And number two, I felt that they gave the residents personal attention, and they watch them closely. They take them on outings, and they have a lot of activities going on."
