"We went to visit the Horizon Bay - North Richland Hills assisted living facility, when visiting possible place for our aunt. We could see how well the grounds were tended "“ and there was plenty of outside benches and walking areas for residents to get exercise outside safely. All of the community rooms were easy access, nicely designed, spacious and had comforting decors. The residents socialize, read, watch movies and TV, create crafts, play games and use the computer. The senior's living spaces were nicely decorated with their own furnishings to provide the most comfort. The casual dining rooms had beautiful furniture "“ with nice designs for easy access. The formal dining area room hosts special events, parties and can be reserved by the residents for their own private use. The menu options featured a wide and interesting and healthy foods for every dietary need. The meals we saw appeared to be very appetizing. The snacks looked equally interesting and nutritious and are offered regularly and any time the seniors request them. Residents can use the fitness room for classes, or for specially designed programs designed for the training equipment. There are fitness experts who visit regularly to instruct the seniors for the best experience. Many of the residents choose to enjoy most of their exercise outside since the mild climate in Texas is conducive to this. The staff takes residents on walks regularly where they can enjoy each other's companies as well as nature. The residents also get taken into the city to enjoy many excursions and participate in the events of the art museums, galleries, music venues and go shopping. There are also plentiful casual and fine dining establishments for the seniors to enjoy every time they visit the various surrounding cities. The residents seemed to really enjoy living here. Everyone looked calm and peaceful, yet engaged in their lives with the kind and caring staff. Residents here are all encouraged to be as independent as possible, but get assistance easily whenever they require it. "

"My grandmother stays at this facility and I love it. It's really nice, people are always there to help if she needs it and they allow so many contracted services she never is without something. My grandmother had a stroke and has still not regain mobility of her leg and arm. Even with this challenge she gets along just fine. They offered her a scooter and they have very scooter and wheel chair friendly elevators around the property. They also have a very spacious parking lot so family members can visit their loved ones. I love this place. My grandma can be social and doesn't have to feel like she can't live for herself. I honestly feel like its added years onto her life because this place provides her with hope. I recommend this place to any and everyone who has a loved one that has suffered illness but still wants to continue living in a happy, clean, friendly environment. "

"My grandmother moved into Mustang Creek Estates, and I really liked it. Her room is a decent size, has a lot of windows that allow light in, great closet space, and a large bathroom area. They have outings on a schedule is given to the residents on a monthly basis, and different activities, like card games, Bible study, and book clubs. My grandmother said that most of the time the food is really good and home cooked."

"Whitley Place was nice. Whitley has some of the finest staff, I think. I was looking for a place for my mom where she would have people to talk to and be able to walk around. In the assisted living, nobody was medicated. I even went into the memory care facility, no one seemed to be medicated. Everybody was out having fun, including all the people. They were not in their rooms. They were out mingling around, talking to the staff, talking to each other, and that's kind of what I was looking for, for my mom. But it was a little small and the building was a little bit older, and it wasn't as clean as the other places. It's kind of a negative, but my mom is all about clean."

"I like Sterling House of Watauga. It's a very nice facility, and they provide higher levels of care for their residents. Their rooms are very nice as well as their dining area. The people I dealt were very nice when I was trying to decide what I was going to do. They would call and check on me and make sure I was feeling OK. "

"I visited Ashwood Court for my mother. The tour was good and very informative. They answered my questions. The rooms were good. The main reason why I kept looking and went somewhere else was because of the price. The facility was nice but wasn’t at the top nor the bottom of my list; it was in the middle. I didn’t notice too many activities. "

The caregivers have a great program for those suffering with Alzheimer's which has helped ease my Grandmothers stress greatly. "My mom is at The Harvest of Roanoke. It's a very nice facility. She went in as assisted living with the evaluation to possibly put her in memory care. The food looked good. My mom is eating much better than where she was then. The rooms are very nice. It's a nice and very homey community. In the common area, they have games. It's very updated and beautifully decorated. The staff has been awesome. They've been wonderful. They embrace us when we come in, and keep us abreast of anything they think we should know. Their director, Monique, has been fabulous. And I have nothing negative at all to say to any of them. I noticed the residents did arts and crafts. There's an area where they can go in and play. They can get their hair done, and they have a place where they can go and watch movies. There's a lot of things that they do there. It's a little expensive, but for what we got, the level of care and everything, I think it's worth the money."

"My husband and I live here at The Waterford on Cooper. There are always little idiosyncrasies that keep them from getting a perfect score. Some staff are very caring and attentive and others don't even know who you are. The food is a hit and miss. Sometimes they are cold, sometimes they are not. Sometimes they are appetizing to look at and sometimes they're not. Sometimes we are served what is on the menu and then sometimes we are served something totally that's not on the menu. The housekeeping is excellent. She is very good. If there's a little something that you see that she might have missed accidentally, she is Johnny-on-the-spot to come back and fix it. If she all of a sudden gets out your apartment door and realizes that she didn't clean one of the mirrors in the bathroom or something, she is really good about coming right back in and correcting what needs to be fixed. She's excellent. The gentleman who does our maintenance is the same way. He puts something on the maintenance request for him to correct or him to fix and he is very good about getting it done quite promptly. It's very well kept outside. They do the lawn every week. They make sure that the bushes are trimmed. The edges between the sidewalk and the grass and all that is trimmed. They keep it very well maintained. The last few months, we've had a different activity director and she is lackadaisical about doing activities. Sometimes she's really good and then at other times, it's not so good. I think we're overcharged. It's quite expensive for what our needs are, but we have to have it, so we bite the bullet and pay for it anyway. When we first moved in, they had two residents' assistants on each of the halls and now we're lucky to have two residents' assistants in the whole facility. It's difficult at times to get an assistant to come in and do something that needs to be done and get it done in a timely manner."

"We visited Brookdale Lewisville. It was very comparable with the other facility, but we just didn't get that warm, friendly feeling when we walked through the door. We also didn't see the residents out and about and socializing as much as we did at the other facility. The staff were very friendly, it's just we didn't see as much of the stuff as we saw at the other one. The room was very comparable to the one my mom got, but it was a smaller room with a lot less storage. The dining area was big, open, and friendly. The upkeep was very good. It was a very nice facility. The staff was friendly. They were also accommodating. It was clean, and it was located in a nice neighborhood."

"I did like Brookdale Pecan Park (formerly Broadway Plaza Pecan Park). When I went in there, they had singing, wine tasting, and cheese. I talked to a nice lady named Amy, and the rooms she showed me were really nice. If I were to put my mother in a facility, I would choose this out of all the ones I visited. I liked the way it was run, and the people were very nice and friendly. She showed me a room that they set up in case people don't have furniture because you're supposed to bring your own furniture. It was really nice, beautiful, spacious, very clean, and smelled really good. "

"My mother has been at Avanti for approximately 5 years. There was a distinct lack of communication, returned phone calls, and simple professionalism for the families paying the bill. However, since the new executive director Byron has come on board, he is addressing communication concerns and seems to be rallying staff and building a more positive culture. "

"My mom moved to The Mustang Creek Estates of Flower Mound. I loved everything about it. I loved the way they had it set up for the tenant. I loved that the staff have been very helpful and inviting. I love the programs that they have set for the tenants. They've answered every question that we've needed answered, and they've helped us with every step that we've needed help with. So, I highly recommend them. When I went in yesterday, they had live music entertainment for the residents."
