"Harvest Hill was very nice, very clean, and very friendly, but I could not afford it. The rooms were very clean. You have your own bathroom and walk-out patio. The rooms were a good size. You could have a bed, a couch, and your own bathroom. The patio was very nice. It's very pretty scenery. The people in this community were very friendly."

"Over the past three years my parents have enjoyed stays at Wheelock Terrace sometimes in assisted living and lastly, permanently, my mom in the Gardens, memory care. "The people running Brookside Nursing Home were helpful. It's a little smaller, not quite as open, and not as modern as the other facility I visited, but what impressed me most was the convenience and friendly atmosphere. "

"Valley Terrace is a lovely place. It's a very lively community, even though it's a larger assisted living facility. It's beautifully laid out. It's very open, sunny, and all the rooms either have a porch to a walking path or they look out on a walking path. It's really beautiful sitting out in the sun. The person who assisted us was very warm, lively, and seemed very dedicated to what she was doing, as well as the other staff that I met. I looked at their menus and I asked them on the spot for next week's menus, and they looked fabulous. It's true to what is posted on their website, which is what I wanted to make sure, because it was sort of a generic menu in all of these communities."

"The one I liked the best is Kendal at Hanover. It feels actually like a college campus. It's over a large area and there's quite a selection of living units. It is continuing care or CCRC. It's also next to a reserve where there's a lot of walking trails. For somebody who wants independent living and plenty of chances to stay active, they have activities there and they have very nice fitness facilities. The staff was friendly and very enthusiastic. There were apartments, but I liked the ones that were single-story attached. They were small, but enough for me. They had a beautiful dining room and the gym had very good equipment and spaces for classes. One of the big attractions for me was being able to get out and go for a walk. I saw quite a number of people walking their dogs, so it's pet-friendly. It's near Darthmouth College, so you can go to plays and stuff if you want."

"Private pay. Physically beautiful facility-- like a fine hotel. Staff, however, is uneven, especially on weekends. We were not notified that our loved one was in end-stage and receiving morphine and all medications withdrawn because swallowing was no longer possible, even though during those five days before our loved one died, the family could have gotten together for a goodbye visit and made passing less lonely. We were given 20 minutes notice that death was immanent. Entirely, unfair, unprofessional,and unforgiveable. "

"Stoughton House looked suitable for my mom. One of the things we liked was the private rooms and private baths. It seemed to be a caring staff, and they seemed to have a lot of activities going on. Very homey atmosphere, but it is right in the middle of town, so the grounds aren't really a plus. The rooms range in size, but they seemed clean and bright. She does have to negotiate some stairs and kind of narrow hallways. I know they had a varied menu, and it rotates monthly, so you don't get the same meal. "

"Davis Home is a small, family-oriented type of facility. Mom is in a good sized room. I had dinner there with my mom once. The staff was very friendly. They do her laundry and her meds, so we don't have to worry about those. They're like a family and they all eat dinner together. Even the staff eats with the residents. They have games as well as arts and crafts. My mom goes to the library two hours a week. It's a very nice place. I would definitely recommend it. "

"I moved my mother into Assisted Living here from another state 2 years ago. Although she was apprehensive about moving, she was allowed to bring both her small dog and her cat, and she loved it right away. The building is beautiful and well-kept, the food is incredible, and the staff is responsive and caring. She’s making friends, eating well, getting the medical attention she needs, and most of all, participating in activities again! As her dementia has progressed I've had to move her into Memory Care, and she is well-cared for and happy. The staff made sure her transition was smooth. She especially enjoys crafts and live music performances. I am so thankful to have found this wonderful home for my Mom. "

"We went to Summercrest. It was very friendly, very clean, and very upbeat. They offered the programs we were looking for and had lots of things listed for their activities. I liked their staff the best. "

"We looked at Woodcrest Village. It isn't part of a company, it's like a private assisted living run by a family. The owner came out and met us. The staff members were very knowledgeable. They took their time, like they weren't trying to get us out the door in an hour. I think we were there almost three hours. They answered all the questions. The place was very clean. The rooms were all repainted and re-carpeted before a new resident moved in. They had nice grounds to be able to walk on. It was nice. We met a couple of the residents, and everybody seemed to really like where they were. They raved about the food. My parents knew some of the people who moved there, and when they said it was nice, I felt like we were getting an honest opinion, because my folks knew them. It was located right on Main Street, so you could look out the windows and kind of see what was happening in town in some of the rooms. It was nice."
