"Harvest Hill was very nice, very clean, and very friendly, but I could not afford it. The rooms were very clean. You have your own bathroom and walk-out patio. The rooms were a good size. You could have a bed, a couch, and your own bathroom. The patio was very nice. It's very pretty scenery. The people in this community were very friendly."

"My parents have moved into Valley Terrace. The staff and the people are great. The facility itself is beautiful, wonderful, and has just about everything that you could want. They have a lovely library, something to do every single day, a mini auditorium, movies, people coming in from the community doing different activities or speaking or just bringing in their pets, a vegetable and floral garden, and sunrooms where you can do puzzles or Bible reading or whatever. They have this big video monitor in the central hallway on your way to the big formal dining room that reminds you of the mid-afternoon and evening activities."

"My parents moved to Kendal when this Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) first opened in 1991. While my father died almost eight years ago, after spending six years in their healthcare unit, my mother is still alive. Besides living in their initial independent living apartment, my mother has had an efficiency apartment in the assisted living unit, a private room and bath in the memory unit, and now, a private room and bath in the healthcare unit. I can not say enough good things about Kendal. Of course, until entering late stage dementia, my mother would have told you that neither she nor my father ever regretted their decision to move from New Jersey to live at Kendal. Furthermore, after visiting there for twenty years now, let me say that I have heard nothing but praise from residents as well as family members. Since I now visit my mother at least weekly for hours at a time, I am pleased by the care which is provided by people who have true heart for what they do. This results in a wonderful environment for residents as well as peace of mind for family members. "

"Private pay. Physically beautiful facility-- like a fine hotel. Staff, however, is uneven, especially on weekends. We were not notified that our loved one was in end-stage and receiving morphine and all medications withdrawn because swallowing was no longer possible, even though during those five days before our loved one died, the family could have gotten together for a goodbye visit and made passing less lonely. We were given 20 minutes notice that death was immanent. Entirely, unfair, unprofessional,and unforgiveable. "

"Davis Home is a small, family-oriented type of facility. Mom is in a good sized room. I had dinner there with my mom once. The staff was very friendly. They do her laundry and her meds, so we don't have to worry about those. They're like a family and they all eat dinner together. Even the staff eats with the residents. They have games as well as arts and crafts. My mom goes to the library two hours a week. It's a very nice place. I would definitely recommend it. "

"Cedar Hill Continuing Care Community was very nice, very clean, and well updated. Everyone was very friendly and very helpful if you had questions. The rooms were very nice, too, and there's always an alternative meal for the residents if they don't like what's being served."

"This could have been the perfect place for my mother. However, there was a little problem with her Medicaid so we are looking for another similar facility. It was really a lovely place. It has roomy rooms not those tiny ones. They were like little apartments with small kitchen and bath. The staff was really nice and residents seem happy there. The only activity I observed while touring this place was some people doing puzzles. We didn't have the chance to taste how the food was either. "

"I had a friend at Woodcrest Village. My friend was very happy there. From what I had seen of it, it was a very nice place. However, they had assigned seating, and my friend complained about having to eat with the same person all the time that she didn't really want to eat with all the time, and not being able to change places. They had wonderful staff. The rooms were for assisted living. They're really for people who are there and can't get out much except when they are taken out or something like that. Well, they had people come in and give talks. They had movies too. Every night they had a social hour at the bar, and I attended those once in a while, which was kind of nice. At holidays, I think they had Christmas activities. "

"I went to Vista Senior Living. I didn't get to go to the closed area where all of the residents are because I needed pre-authorization and that just didn't happen, but I did get to see the facility and talk with the staff and get a good idea of the layout, of the space, and their mission. It was really good. The tour was great. Daniel was very thorough in showing me all the different parts of the facility, very easy to talk with, understanding, and competent. I saw the rooms, not in the area where the residents are living, but in the building that (one step at a time) they're expanding out into more rooms. It was one of those rooms that is going to be built soon. There were studios, single and double rooms, and they're very bright, well kept, nice rooms. They had exercises, artistic stuff, walking, activities, games, puzzles, and stuff like that. I would like to meet more of the staff though. Before I bring my mom there, I would have to go back and see more of the working area. The man I spoke with was excellent. He just totally made me feel comfortable and easy to pursue that being a positive place for my mom. He's just a great guy. He talks very highly about the other staff. I met a couple of other people, but I have not seen the actual living space with the people who are there."
