"My dad moved into Sanford Health Dell Rapids Orchard Hills. They met his needs: one bedroom, housekeeping, passing meds, and three meals a day. They're a small community. They're very hands-on and very good at communication. It's very well-kept and clean. Given all of the services, they're probably one of the cheaper places that we were able to find."

"We looked at Minnesota Veterans Home - Luverne about three years ago. It's a VA nursing home in Luverne, Minnesota. My dad is a veteran, so that was just an area that we wanted to go look at. It was very clean, bright, and airy. There were a lot of common areas to sit and relax. It is a full skilled nursing home. They had physical therapy rooms and a room where they could watch movies, but it was really meant for people that were wheelchair bound or bedbound. For a need's basis at the time, and even right now, my parents aren't quite in the need of a full-skilled nursing home. It just didn't quite meet our needs at that point in time."

"We have already placed my father in The Oaks in Luverne. It's a small enough place that people are very willing to help get somebody to feel comfortable because moving is a tough thing to do. They have a very caring staff and a few of the residents have really helped. They reached out to him and talked to him to try to help him feel more comfortable there. It's in a nice area in a small town versus having him in Minneapolis. He's in a one-bedroom that's spacious enough. It's set up so that the bathroom is big enough for him to maneuver if he needed a walker. It's a very nice spacious-looking place. I would recommend them."
