"I'm very familiar with Brighton Gardens, which recently changed owners (it's now run by Emeritus). It's an excellent facility with three levels of care: skilled nursing, assisted living, and memory. It's located in central Santa Rosa, up on a hill with a beautiful view. Even the skilled nursing part of the facility"”the part I mostly see"”doesn't look institutional. It's homey and nice. The rooms come in a range of sizes (some singles, some doubles) and are light-filled and feel warm and inviting. The staff is great. They're loving and sweet--genuinely attached to the residents. And the new owners seem to have the same good standards of care. The food is good, too. The memory unit is especially good, with one of the best activity programs I've seen. It's one of Brighton Gardens' best selling points. They have a full program of activities and the residents also have the option of going on an outing in a bus. There's always music there. And all the staff members are engaging and loving. End of life care is very good"”so loving. They step up and really care for them through the whole process. The only downside is the cost. If one can afford it, it's a good choice."

"Villa Capri was one of the best places as far as I could tell. Everything was wonderful and I did not see anything that made me draw back from it. It seemed a very nice place to call your home. The rooms are beautiful and the bathrooms were really nice. The staff seemed to be very caring. Everybody was really polite, too. "

"I had an in-person tour of Brookdale Windsor. The staff was very friendly. It was all a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The physical appearance of the facility was good, and it was better than average. It wasn't perfect, but it was very nice. She was helpful, and listened to our concerns and needs, and provided options that hopefully can work for us. The exteriors of the facility were very nice. The interior was a little bit dated and could use some improvement. It felt homey. They were pet-friendly."

"I went to tour and they had a model one-bedroom that I can only use one word to describe, it was stunning. It was beautiful. It was like the apartment you always wanted to live in. It looks like it wasn't a senior living home. When you pay $30,000 to get in there, they've got something going on, more than the usual place. And it was just lovely. It was lovely, but it was very expensive. The guy who took care of the tour was delightful. He was great. He was very nice. He was there and spent the time and we looked at several studios. We looked at them because I could manage the studio there. The food was fantastic. They had a chef, not a cook. They had 2 or 3 menus and 2 or 3 dining rooms. It was pretty fancy. They had a gym that was geared for old folks. And they had a guy that was there doing exercises every day. This guy would work with you and give you a special. I thought that was amazing. And then they have a walk-in clinic to help you with things when you can't get to the doctor. And I thought that was good, too. They had a nice outdoor area, and a place where you could sit on chairs. It was shaded and it was really beautiful. And then they had 2 or 3 dining rooms. One of them had a bar. They have happy hour every night. So, there are more amenities with the more money you spend. We had lunch there. They had a chef on hand and he knew what he was doing. I had a gourmet salad with grilled peaches and it was just lovely. The food was lovely."

"Piners Guest Home is amazing. The staff are very caring, and personable. The facility is immaculate. My Mother has been there three years now, and I could not sing their praises enough. They care deeply about the well being and comfort of all the residents and my mother is so happy there "

"My visit to Berkshire was excellent. They took me to the room and personally guided me through everything. They talked to me and opened it up for questions, and they were very professional. The rooms were very nice and adequate for what the need is. They had dinners, and they had parties outside. It was some kind of celebration going on, and it looks like they did it quite nicely. It is all great. "

"I visited. The staff was very helpful. The rooms were very nice. There was a very nice atmosphere. We did look at the rooms and the common rooms, and they seemed quite good. The dining room looked very nice. What we like about the place was that it was stair-steps, and if you needed more care, it was available there. They had Alzheimer's care. What we were impressed with was that they had a lot of information about expediting their old people getting in there. My father was a Veteran, and they had some information on that. They were just very forthcoming with the information. We would have him go there because it looked like a really nice spot for him, and it looked like something that would fit his needs. Security seemed adequate. "

"Drake Terrace was a very nice place. It would probably be our second choice for the waiting list. It is a little farther from the area we wanted to be in, but it is very nice. We like this place. They have a small coffee area/library, an exercise room, and a cafeteria. The dining area looked very nice. The whole place seemed very nice. Everybody was very friendly. It was very welcoming. They had nice apartments too."

"It is modern and new. It's like a very nice motel. They have a lot of amenities. It was comfortable. They have a nice dining room, a social area where they have various activities, and a very nice theater in the lower level with a big screen and comfortable chairs. The place had fire doors that closed automatically when there was a fire alarm. The staff that I met seemed very organized and experienced. I did meet with one of the residents. She showed me her apartment, and she seemed very comfortable there. They have a morning and evening walking group."

"My mother was at Healdsburg. Unfortunately, we weren't clear about her diagnosis at that point, so she was in assisted living, and it quickly became obvious that she needed memory care. And at that time, their memory care facility (which is adorable) was full. It's far away from me, but it's near my sister, so we moved her back closer to me. Their food was excellent. It's an older facility set in a very unique location. Inside, it had been nicely modernized. All the AC worked. It's nice inside. It felt really warm and welcoming. It is a smaller facility than some of the other facilities that I had seen. They have a lovely outdoor space that includes a garden and some goats and chickens, which appealed to my mother. They had activities every day. And the schedule was easily accessible to me so I could call my mother and find out what was going on. There was bingo, morning stretching, yoga classes, and memory games. What was different about Healdsburg Senior Living was that everybody knew their clients. I felt like the people who worked there were on a personal level with their client's needs and were able to advocate appropriately with families when things changed. My mother's needs changed while we were there, and they were so kind in the way that they expressed that my mother needed memory care. And I think one of the hardest things for a family member to hear when you're in assisted living is that your family needs more care. But the way they handled it was beautiful. The staff was caring, confident, and well-informed. We were getting good care."
