"I'm very familiar with Brighton Gardens, which recently changed owners (it's now run by Emeritus). It's an excellent facility with three levels of care: skilled nursing, assisted living, and memory. It's located in central Santa Rosa, up on a hill with a beautiful view. Even the skilled nursing part of the facility"”the part I mostly see"”doesn't look institutional. It's homey and nice. The rooms come in a range of sizes (some singles, some doubles) and are light-filled and feel warm and inviting. The staff is great. They're loving and sweet--genuinely attached to the residents. And the new owners seem to have the same good standards of care. The food is good, too. The memory unit is especially good, with one of the best activity programs I've seen. It's one of Brighton Gardens' best selling points. They have a full program of activities and the residents also have the option of going on an outing in a bus. There's always music there. And all the staff members are engaging and loving. End of life care is very good"”so loving. They step up and really care for them through the whole process. The only downside is the cost. If one can afford it, it's a good choice."

"I went to Brookdale at Paulin Creek. I thought it was very nice place, but I did not like the location on the flatlands near a big shopping center. Aesthetically, I did not like it. The rooms were nice. It had a pool and everything. The people were very old, and I just did not like the area itself that much. Brookdale was very nice and lots of people would be happy there. "

"Diana was the one we worked with us here and she was phenomenal and so helpful. She gave great insights on how to help mom in the best way. Their amenities were outstanding. They had two 5-star restaurants and then another nice restaurant. They had snacks out that people could come and get at any time. So it wasn't just three routine meals. They were open all the time with snacks and if you wanted something extra, you could get it. You could either have the food taken to your room, like room service, or you could go to the restaurant. They had a happy hour in their general area so it was just phenomenal. It was luxury resort living. Diana showed us two studios and a one-bedroom. The studios were very nice with had very different layouts that would work well for anybody. On the first one that we walked down, I noticed that the kitchenette was a little bit further from the bedroom and the living area, which in our instance was a little bit of a walk, but for a regular person, it was just right there. The next studio was more of an all-inclusive. It was very clean. They had one that looked onto the courtyard in the center with all of its fountains and flowers, while the other one was secluded, like a parking lot kind of view that looked over the tennis courts and things like that. The one-bedroom was very spacious and very nice. They had very short hallways, so there was not a ton of walking and it's soundproof. You could be in the hallway and not hear any of the other residents' televisions or anything. It was well done."

"Piners Guest Home is amazing. The staff are very caring, and personable. The facility is immaculate. My Mother has been there three years now, and I could not sing their praises enough. They care deeply about the well being and comfort of all the residents and my mother is so happy there "

"We liked it, though we didn't get to see much because of COVID. We just met in a room with a woman named Amber, and she was very, very helpful. She kept in touch with me very diligently, and she's really nice. What we saw of the place was clean. She showed us where the dining room was, although it wasn't being used. Everything else looked good. We saw a single room (for one person), and there's a shared room. They were fine for what they were. It's located really close to Queen of The Valley Hospital. They have a salon, options for exercise classes, and an outside area where residents could garden. It was memory care so they can go outside, but it was fenced in."

"My visit to Berkshire was excellent. They took me to the room and personally guided me through everything. They talked to me and opened it up for questions, and they were very professional. The rooms were very nice and adequate for what the need is. They had dinners, and they had parties outside. It was some kind of celebration going on, and it looks like they did it quite nicely. It is all great. "

"I was very impressed with Chancellor Place. For my parents, this facility would have been a wonderful choice. They have activities. They would take their residents out once in a while. However, I just don't like that they're going to the casino especially with my dad who had a gambling problem and I couldn't have him go there. "

"Healdsburg was a nice location. I liked the little vegetable garden that they have in the back that you could work in. Also, they had some animals there, which I thought was a nice aspect of it since I'm a country girl. The people were all very nice. I thought the food was rather bland. I was not impressed with it. It was kind of a small place. That's what my friend said about it. I think they only have like 35 people or something and it seemed to be rather religious-oriented. So, she kind of thought that she wouldn't be as comfortable there. She'd rather be in a place with around 100 people and have more access to finding someone that she would hit it off with more."

"We toured Cogir of Vallejo Hills Senior Living. Their staff, as far as the interview went, was good. It was clean. The facility was good. What I liked about Cogir was that it was local. I would be close to my family, so I didn't have to go far to visit. They have to share a room."

"This is a well-run facility with a family feeling. It has about 150 people, excellent food, exercise classes with planned visits ( no cost)to stores, rstaurants doctors etc. There is a weekly ride in the bus to see places in Marin County and San Francisco. The staff is amazingly kind, helpful and understands the disabilities of the clients. There are frequent special programs and nightly game night, movies night or bingo. It is a very pleasant place to llve--and the San Rafael climate can't be beat/ (Take it from someone who grew up in the east!) "

"We were able to visit The Vincent. It was not a building that was converted, so I liked that it was built originally for seniors. The walls are soundproof. The food was excellent. The amenities are great. The staff members that we met were knowledgeable. They train their caregivers there at the facility. It's not a corporate facility, but they have everything a person could want. We actually left a deposit to hold a room, but the only problem with them is that the room is on the third floor. My friend has mobility issues, and so he is afraid of being on any floor in case there is an earthquake or a fire. He is afraid that he would not be able to get out of the building, and that's his only hesitation. I was going to call back to see if there was any chance that they would have a resident that wanted to move up to the third floor, and so my friend is definitely looking for a ground floor. They offer a discount on the community fee. The building had a very warm and natural feeling. The grab bars looked like chair molding around the walls. They had linen tablecloths and a full table setting service. Everything was just top-notch and clean. There is a library, and they have what's running in the theater now in their movie facility, so it's not old movies. At The Vincent, it was like eating in a restaurant. It was pizza day the day that we were there, and they had their own brick pizza oven to cook pizzas. To order from the menu, everything was fresh, and nothing frozen. It was a totally different experience."

"I'm currently a resident of Green Acres Manor. It is very good. We have music twice a week and some physical activity once a week. There is sort of a library, but there is no chapel or pool. The food is good. The building is beautiful. It's very nice."
