"My mom is doing fine at the Whispering Pines Inn - Llc. They're very caring, very accommodating to everything my mom and I need if I need to drop something off at the home or I need to update her medications. They keep me informed of whatever she needs, how she's doing, and whether she's having fun or not. She's very social and it's a very social environment. They have a lot of bingo and different exercises they do with them. They like them to come out into the dining room and they coordinate people depending on who can sit with who, and who fits who best, which I appreciate. They're very clean and very hands-on. They give her showers and get her clothes clean. They're a good influence on her, as far as keeping up after herself. I went in there and she's been making her bed, which she's never done before. It's not that they're making her make her bed, but I think she wanted to do what they do. They were doing it, and then she started doing it also, and I think that she's just following suit. It's a very, very nice place. It's on a piece of a very large property with a lot of seating all the way around as far as picnic benches. My brother goes over there and sits with her with something to eat. I love these people. We were moving my mother and they were right there with carts and moving things with us. They're right with you all the time, trying to help you and just make things easier. They're just right there with the family and with my mom in whatever she needs. I just think they're the sweetest people. The owner is Charles and he is so easy to talk to. Whatever your questions are, he can answer them and he has all kinds of information. I didn't know what to ask but he had a lot of things he was helping me with like what's going to happen, what they allow, and what they don't. They're just willing to work with all of us very well. I have two brothers and then her grandchildren, and they're just really accommodating to us. I believe my mother is very happy there or I would be getting some wild phone calls. I'm not and it's been a month so I just think she's happy there. We went to see her one day and she was just laughing and talking with a couple of the ladies there that were just sitting with her. They were watching TV and I'm not sure what other games they played, but I know there is a game room. She has a really beautiful room and they keep it nice. I'm very happy with the way the place looks and the calmness of it. Charles likes to cook so he's going to be cooking Thanksgiving because I really can't take her where I'm going. I'm going out of town so she's going to be there for Thanksgiving and we're going to see her the day before. Charles is cooking turkeys and all that stuff, and they'll do a little party over there. I just think they try to make it as a family as possible. It looks like they have a smaller group, but I don't know how many people they have. I haven't asked either. I'm just looking at the women that come out and watch TV with her and there's about four of them that come out with my mom. They're more ambulatory to get around and I don't hear any complaints from them. I expected something by now, but nothing, so I'm happy about that. It's for assisted living and they have a reasonable price which is why I went with them. The money was one thing, but also their location is really pretty. It's way out in the country and it's very nice. The compound where it is is very nice. I like it. I would recommend them first because they have quite a way about them, I don't know how to explain that. It's very comfortable there."

"My mom is on a waiting list at Merrill Gardens at Gilroy. The cleanliness was fine. The rooms were clean and spacious. They offered a lot more activities there than they did at the other place. They were doing activities when we were there. The staff who gave the tour was great. She was very friendly and helpful. She answered our questions. She pointed out different things. She showed us the kitchen area, the dining area, and the rec area."

"My friend is at Queen of Angels II RCFE. There are five residents currently, but the maximum number of residents is six. Three ladies live in the home, so there are at least two caregivers around the clock. The owner comes in every other day and checks on them. I am extremely happy with them. They cater to her dietary likes and needs, they're very efficient with her medications, and they are giving her wonderful care. Her legs look better than they have ever looked. She has improved rapidly under their care. There are individual rooms and a shared room. Their activities are more geared toward their individual needs. She likes to go out into the yard and garden and they're doing that for her. She likes succulents, so they have a variety of succulents in her room and outside on the patio for her."

"My mother is in Montecito Manor. It's bright and cheerful. They have nice furnishings and decorations for the season and holidays. They have pretty good food. The staff is very caring, considerate, and accommodating. The rooms are bright and cheerful. They have a wide variety of activities for the residents to participate in. I'm very happy with it. It's very well kept and not depressing."

"My mom is currently in the Primavera Gardens. The facility is very clean. The caretakers there are very caring. They take care of my mom 150%, and I just couldn't be happier. They have rooms that are shared with another resident. They also have individual rooms, depending on how much you want to pay. They serve three meals a day. Every night, they have something different to offer, like movies, bingo, dancing, and all kinds of other things to keep the residents occupied. They have a big seating area with a big screen. It has all the comforts of home. They've got a personal cook who was an actual cook at a restaurant, and he comes in part-time. The food is just great. If they want more, they are welcome to have a second helping. They keep a close eye on my mom because she's diabetic, so they give her a special diet. But as far as medications and stuff, they're very, very good with that. They do offer top-level service, but I think that it's too expensive."

"My mother is currently in hospice care at Coastal Care Home. Rose, the owner, is very sweet and caring. She considers all of her patients as family and it comes through loud and clear in the care she provides. All of her employees are gracious and very attentive to the patient and family needs. The decor is very nice and updated. The facility is clean no matter what time of day we arrive. Also the home always smells fresh. We are so thankful for Rose and her staff. "It has now been a year since making the difficult decision to move my father to a facility where he could get the 24/7 care he now needs. We made the right decision choosing De Un Amor! The beautiful setting in rural Corralitos and the spacious, well-kept grounds alongside a gurgling creek provide a serene environment and a great opportunity for the residents to get outside and enjoy the natural world. It is also a pleasure for me to make the 15-minute country drive from my home to visit my father. Most important, though, are the staff at De Un Amor. They all know my father by name and he knows them (well, maybe not their names). The quality of care is top notch. I can always call and immediately speak with someone who knows my father and knows what and how well he is doing. De Un Amor is small enough to foster this familiarity and personal attention, but large enough that they can provide activities (Veronica is their wonderful full-time activities director), keep well staffed at night, and bring in a variety of services. My father's doctor highly recommended De Un Amor and even does house calls there when needed. I can't recommend De Un Amor highly enough. What a relief, after years of struggling to keep my father in his home as long as possible, and watching him become increasingly isolated, lonely, and at physical risk, to know that he is being well cared for and once again interacting with people. "My dad is a resident of Wesley House III. The way the Wesley House works is that they have six men in one house, and they have six women in the other house. It's fairly expensive, but they have lots of staff. It's like houses where you can sit in the sitting room and talk to people. It's very home-like. There are two people per room, but the rooms are very big and there's plenty of room for wheelchairs and walkers. The staff is very caring. The food is really good, too. The kitchen is like the kitchen in your house, and it always smells good because they're always cooking the next meal. My father's room has minimal furnishings in the sense that it's not all cluttered and medical and all that kind of stuff. It's not like a hospital. The place is for people who can't do a whole lot. They've got gardens, some birds outside, parakeets, and they have books like crazy. My dad needed us to bring a radio because he likes the NPR and things like that, and that they weren't really doing that. It does seem like most of the people there are just very feeble, and I don't know if all those things, like balloon volleyball and all those kinds of things, would even be relevant. But they're interacting with each other and interacting with the staff. You have to understand that this is a place for people who have had strokes or who are very old and very frail. Some of them need memory care, so it isn't a standard assisted living place, this is for people who need much more care."
