"I went here. The facilities are all pretty similar, it's the people that are in that make the difference. I thought the folks at the Heritage place were really good. The people were just nice. All the facilities seemed clean and orderly. The rooms were pretty similar. I thought they were excellent. The staff was excellent."

"I visited Gardens of Hazel Green for my friend who needed assisted living. I thought it was very nice and very well-run. It was a small place but they had activities for the people that live there. I was pleased with it but they were saying that my friend had to be able to get herself to the dining room to eat, and we didn't know how she would react to her chemo yet. They've updated half of their facilities and it was very nice. They're in the process of updating the other half. All the ladies that we came across during our visit just loved it there. It was a strong and very active community. We only interacted with the manager and she was very informative and very helpful. The rooms were basic with a bathroom. They weren't fancy, but they were nice. It was a small facility but they had a courtyard in the middle. It makes a round or rectangular area, and they have big rocking chairs for everybody to sit and rock on the porches. I thought it was very pleasant."

"The Goldton at Athens was very nice. It's not that old. The facility was really beautiful. The problem there was it was not a good location for me and the dog. There was no exit out of the apartment directly into the yard. I had to take him out in the hall and out to the exit door. There wasn't very much yard space. The staff member during the tour was excellent, very friendly, and very encouraging. She knew I had lost my husband, and she is certainly the right person for the job. The dining area was beautiful. The room was basically like the other assisted living places. It had a living room kitchen combination and a bedroom. My number one concern was there was no outside exit in the apartment. I couldn't go open a door and be outside with my dog. There were people working puzzles, and a lot of them just sitting around visiting with one another. There was an elevator if you weren't on the first floor. It was right after lunch, and I think almost everybody must go take a nap or something. It definitely would have been my number one choice if it had been the right accommodation for me and my dog."

"My mother has lived there for a year now. the room was freshly painted and the new flooring was put down in the bathroom and foyer. We were able to fit a couch, end tables, 2 chairs and her bedroom suite along with a table for pictures. the administrator and staff are wonderful. they know me and my sisters by name and are soo good to my mother. they do many activities with them inside and outside. the food is good and everything is so clean. I couldn't be more please! I highly recommend Limestone Manor!"

"I was very impressed with Limestone Lodge. It was clean, and they had very nice staff there. The dining area was nice and clean, and the rooms were nice, too. The person who toured me around was nice and very informative. They had an activity room and an exercise room."

"We chose Fleming Farms for my parents-in-law. They have yet to move in, but we have a deposit there. It was beautiful. We liked the people we met, the caretakers, the managers, and the location. It met our needs. They had a movie room, a pool, a game room, a library, and three dining areas. It was very well done. They had a beautiful courtyard and behind the facility was a farm-like atmosphere, and very serene. The grounds were beautiful."

"I'm in Regency Retirement Village - Huntsville. What I like most is the activities available and the kindness of the people. I chose this place because of the availability of physical therapy and the frequency of activities. Today, they're having a party for people who have birthdays in May. They have occupational therapy and something for people who have difficulty swallowing. I'm in a wheelchair, and it's difficult to get around. Sometimes, they'll push me in the wheelchair. Sometimes, they just walk by. The residents are all friendly. The rooms are very small. They're tight, especially with a wheelchair."

"I had a wonderful tour at Magnolia Trace. The people were very friendly. We got a chance to talk with the residents there, and they were very positive about the lifestyle there and the care that they've been given. We had lunch there and it was wonderful. The facility was great. It was very well laid out. They had assisted living going all the way up to memory care. They had apartments and villas, which were really nice. The staff was very friendly and very helpful in answering questions, and very eager to show us their facilities."

"My dad is here. So far, we've been pleased with the staff. My dad has a nice room. Their activities are engaging. He has participated in all of them and has gotten active, which is what I needed him to do and what he needed to do to be able to keep walking. So far, we're pleased. Family members are able to take people out of the memory care into the assisted living side. There are a couple of garden areas there that are nice. That's important for my dad to be able to have a place to get out. They have a piano, so music groups and church choirs can come, and that's important to him, too. So far, the activity director is very good. For memory care, he is intellectually engaging with them. He reads to them, they play word games, and they talk about things in history. He seems good and kind, and he gets them talking, and that appeals to my dad. For the staff, I've been there late at night, and they don't know I'm there. But I've heard their interactions with difficult people, and they are so patient and very caring. For the meals, I've only been there at breakfast time. They don't vary breakfast so far. I hope that they offer pancakes or waffles, something besides scrambled eggs. My dad enjoyed the other meals though. It's not a brand-new building. I think there are things that need to be done about them. It's still adequate though. The windows are nice, and the halls are nice and big. The memory care is small enough for my dad, so it's good for memory care."

"My mother has moved into The Neighborhood at Madison. It's really open and clean. Everything about it is very inviting and very clean. Every one of the staff has been really helpful, really warm, and inviting too. They offer the ability to be really involved in the activities. They've already asked my mom a few times for recommendations of what she wants to do. I know they have short exercises every morning and some crafts, but they really encourage their community members to be involved in picking out things. I haven't had any of the food, but my mom loves it. I know it's great. They're really attentive to diet, like low salt and no sugar. They do a good job."

"Madison Village is a convenient location. It has a washer and dryer in the apartment and the full kitchen is great. The space is nice and it's a brand-new apartment. Nobody's lived in it yet. They'll bring food to your door and I really liked all the staff. They also have assisted living there and you can have activities and all that kind of stuff. They have buses that'll take you to your doctor's appointments and the price is right. The lady who did the tour was very knowledgeable and knew what I wanted. She told me what her pluses were and showed me different apartments. She explained everything to me, what the amenities were and how it worked. My son and I both had a delicious meal there and it was just great. It's set up like a pod with 8 units in a square and then you have a courtyard in the center and a community room in that section. It's a great situation."

"I thought Merrill Gardens at Madison was a wonderful place. I really liked it. I like the layout and the food. I like what they offered. I like what little amenities they had like they would bring you food if you were sick. They had a doctor on staff, and they could take you to doctor’s appointments. They would have somebody playing the piano. They have barbecues for the 4th of July. They had movies and church services. They just seemed to have so much to me. "

"My dad has been at Athens Health and Rehabilitation for over a month now. He's a handful and is declining right now but they're doing a really good job taking care of him. They've all been wonderful to me and my dad. They've done everything they can to take care of him. His room is clean. I have nothing bad to say about that. They have a calendar of activities to do there but my dad has not participated in them. I appreciate what they do for him. I couldn't do their job, and my hats off to anybody that does what they do."
