Adult Day Care Communities in Dumont, NJ

"I want to start out by sayiong there are many people who only ever go on a site like this to post negative things. I also used to do this on sites like YELP that about restaurants. I have to do one for here because it was such a valuable and helpful experience for my grandma and my family. We as a family struggled many hours with trying to make the hard decision of having chemo or no chemo for my grandma. The staff there spoke with us alot....all levels of staff...and gave us their professional and some personal experiences. We had here stay under the subacute rehab and not go for the chemo. It was a hard hard decision. They even have a palliatiive(not sure if spelling is right) specialist who spoke to us about making her comfortable and her doing rehab to keep her going as lo9ng as it was not to painful. She passed about 2 weeks ago, but she was happy and had us all around her. So I woulc recommend this place for rehab but all for compassionate end of life care. "

"My brother has moved into Jewish Home at Rockleigh. I don't think this place is going to work for him. There is a big gap in the age difference between him and the other patients. He is only 60 years old, and unfortunately, the reason why he needs help is because he has Parkinson's. The staff is very positive though. They provide three meals a day. He doesn't like the food only because of the fact that he doesn't eat chicken and he can't eat fish. There are a lot of limitations on his part so I can't really blame the place for that."

"Isabella is a little pricey, and it doesn’t fit my preference because I am still very high functioning, but it’s a very nice place. The staff was very professional and very informative as to what they have to offer. They have recreational and social activities. The rooms were adequate, and everything is setup for emergency that may have rise. The grounds were nice, clean, and spacious. "

"My grandfather was at Beth Abraham, and it was good. They treated my grandfather really nicely. There were times that he was a little bit impatient, but I guess that’s what happens to everybody when you don’t live in your own home. The staff was very nice. I don’t have any complaints with them. The place was very clean. There’s a smell once in a while when you pass by a room, but I guess it was the people who are really in a worse condition. But in my thoughts, everything was always OK. There was one person he just didn’t really like, but I can’t even remember her name. Other than that, everybody was nice. Some of the staff even came to his viewing. Even the people who were in there were very nice and polite. For the time that he was there, I would say that he was semi-comfortable. I can’t say completely comfortable because he wasn’t happy about being there anyway because he wanted to be at home. With him it was a delicate situation because of that. The place was very bright. In some rooms, and on certain floors, there was like three beds to a room. So a person with a wheelchair was a little bit hard to maneuver around. They also have these little suites that had one person. "

"The Wartburg Home was very good and had excellent rehab. Mom wanted to stay there, but they said she can't because Medicare said she was not progressing and Medicare would not want to work with us anymore. It was a beautiful place because they had a whole new building just for rehab, and it was very nice and everything was brand new. "

"My friend is staying in the Amsterdam Nursing Home. The facility is very caring. Their rehabilitation is very good because they're up every day. Their staff is very reliable. I didn't see anything that was off with them. They're very polite. If something goes wrong in the facility, they contact the patient's family, friends, or whoever is connected to them. The food is very good. They make sure it's connected with their health, like if you're diabetic or you have a problem, the food is arranged around that. The room is very neat. He's in a room by himself, but they have people there permanently, so it might be two in a room. The maintenance is very good. Every day, things are changed, beds are changed, and the room is cleaned. They have him up and do exercise in the morning. The nurse comes in to see him every day. He has sugar, so that's checked on periodically during the day, and so is his pressure. They also have entertainment there during the day. When you come into the facility, you have to check in, and when you leave, you check out."

"Our tour experience at the Daughters Of Miriam Center was very good. It's a very nice facility and they seemed to be caring. They have physical therapy, a nice senior program including entertainment, and a weekly hairdresser. There was an area where you can go outdoors, but it was not like expansive grounds. There were nice rooms where families could meet. They were very accommodating when I was there and they answered all my questions and seemed sincere. It's an older building, but it was clean."

"My father is in the Christian Health Care Center. They have different levels of care, and he is in the memory care area. They've been wonderful. The food has been good. They've been able to handle him. It's a beautiful facility. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and patient. The food is good, there's plenty of it, and they make sure it's all hot. It's expensive, but they're being paid sufficiently for what they're doing."
