horrible company. They take forever to return a call even when it's an emergency. Nurses never show when they are suppose to. No compassion by anyone there.

My 93 year old mother was the patient of Heartland. The first nurse attending to her had 0 compassion my mother was just a job to her. I wanted an antibiotic for my mother due to a bladder infection. The first nurse along with the Nurse Practitioner had the attitude of "she is going to pass away anyway so what is the use"? They did not say that but that is the impression I received from this team, by the end the appointment the Nurse Practitioner finally conceded to give an antibiotic. I then was able to switch to a different nurse who went above an beyond my expectations she was a kind compassionate human being, she treated my mother with dignity and respect (Erin is her name). My mothers aide Muzzella also went above and beyond in my mothers care we all love her kindness and compasstion. My mother contracted covid it took a week to get someone to administer a covid test. I was told someone would be out to the house tomorrow (Sat), however no one came for a week. The night my mother passed it was a Sat night at 11:30 I called heartland twice I received the answering service. After 45 min I called 911. The police call Heartland, then I received a call from a nurse who was 100% unprofessional. I received a call from her. Her exact words to me were "did you just call me" in a very irratated voice. Over 1 1/2 hours after initial call to Heartland a nurse came. As she was walking up the walk she stopped to talk to a police officer. We had 5 family members on the front porch crying along with my poor deceased mother laying in a hospital bed in the living room. The nurse was telling the officer "it ain't my fault for taking so long to get here" Then she started laughing and giggling in a teenage fashion almost in a flirt like manner saying "I have never met anyone from New Zeland" At that time I heard enough laughter and deflection and I yelled for her to control her self and to come and attend to my mother. She then expressed that she feared for her life started crying like someone was attacking her, it was a screaming cry and would not come into the house, she was leaving. The officer calmed her down she asked for my mothers medication (she never stepped foot into the house never laid eyes on my mother). Once she got the medication (liquid morphine and liquid lorazampam she poured it out in the street! She never called the funeral home.

The nurses were quite wonderful, when they showed up. This was through no fault of their own. The administration was horrendous. Absolutely horrendous. No sooner had my mom arrived home from the hospital and put in the bed they had delivered, when someone called to say they were picking the bed up. They were quite insistent. When I called the admin office it took them nearly 40 minutes to admit that it was a mistake and contact the company that provided the bed to tell them not to pick it up. My mother's supplies did not arrive for 4 days, no meds for 2 days, nurses and aides were showing up whenever, middle of the night, first thing in the morning, sometimes in the afternoon, no warning, no rhyme or reason. It was extremely stressful. This was the last 7 days of my mother's life and I spent 5 days of it practically begging Heartland to do their jobs and provide my mother with the care they promised. It's a good thing I had been my mother's caretaker for some time and I knew what I was doing because I ended up having to bathe her, change her wound dressing, administer her medication and everything else involved in caretaking. The regional manager actually had to come out to the house to speak to me, that's how badly everything was botched. I was cheated out of those 5 days with my mother because of Heartland and I'm never going to get that time back. I would not let them care for my dog. Even though when the nurses showed up they were great, if they are not told to show up consistenly, on some type of schedule, that doesn't even matter.

Heartland Hospice Services is good. If you call them, they come. When you order supplies, it comes. I haven't had an issue. They offered everything from chapel to nurse's aides to my aunt. They also offer massage therapy and coping team. They never come in with an attitude and they treat their patients politely, and if they don't understand, they still give them their full attention.

I had the misfortune of utilizing Heartland Hospice to provide services for my father. The lack of support and professionalism does not truly represent what Hospice stands for. Please look elsewhere when in need of care for your loved one. ForMyDad1129

I used Heartland Hospice for my mom who came home after a lengthy stay in the hospital and there was nothing else the doctors could do for her. I was pleased with the quick response and turnaround for us to get equipment, medication and supplies before my mom came home. The admission nurse, social worker and aide were good. They stayed on top of everything we needed for my mom. They were consistent with the care and found fast fill in when staff could not come to the house. Very professional and gave many options for care. When my mom pass they were right there to support the family and continue to offer support.

Heartland Hospice is awful... I have to start this review by saying I never write reviews, good or bad. This situation is different and I hope this review is helpful. I wish I had read up on Heartland and selected another Hospice, because in this situation, there is no second chance. We used Heartland Hospice for my father. The lady who handled registration was not kind. I should have stopped there but I continued- thinking she would not be the person caring for my dad. She did not agree with our choices on the MOLST. She was rude. The nursing staff is inadequate. I do not say that lightly. I mean a nightmare. The grief counselor...she finally called after 6 weeks and then said she would call me back on Monday. Still no call. This is a grief counselor. Unbelievable. Please... choose a different hospice care provider.
