"Home Instead provides home care two nights (4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m) a week for my Mom. I live in Florida, so I'm not interacting with the Caregiver. My Dad has been caring for Mom for 6 plus years. I suggested home service to my Dad to give him a break from the 24 hour care he provides. From what my Dad shares the Caregiver is on time. My Mom has dementia, so it has been challenging, but Mom seems to be more reseptive as time passes. Overall, my interaction with the Office Staff has been pleasant."

"I want to take a moment to express my deep gratitude for the exceptional care that Kate and Flo provide for my wife. Both caregivers have been an absolute blessing in our lives. My wife, who is bedbound and requires physical care, has always felt at ease and comforted under their attentive care. Kate and Flo approach their work with such warmth, kindness, and patience, truly making a difference in my wife’s quality of life. Their compassion shines through every day, and it's clear they genuinely care about my wife’s well-being. They not only meet her physical needs but also offer emotional support, ensuring she feels seen, heard, and loved. It's rare to find caregivers who go above and beyond with such grace, and I am incredibly thankful for the positive impact they've had on our lives. Kate and Flo are truly a gift, and I couldn’t be more appreciative of their exceptional care and dedication. I am confident that my wife is in the best hands possible, and I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone in need of compassionate, professional care."

"My mom Ellen can't say enough about Right at Home. The caregivers they send out are wonderful. They are always so attentive to her every need. Not only have I and my sister seen a great change in my mom's appearance but she all over attitude is wonderful. We really didn't think she would be so inviting of a stranger into her home. (At first she wasn't). We started with just two days a week now we are up to five. My mom thinks of her caregiver Sally as a God send. Sally is like a part of our family. She traveled with my mom to my sister's house out of town. That was the best; we were all together again. We haven't done that in years. I just want to let you know that Right at Home is the best. Sincerely Charles Holmes & Family. "

"We went with Cranberry Home Care. They are excellent and provide my mom everything that a personal care assistant would do, like bathing, laundry, meal prep, and house cleaning. Every single one of them is wonderful. They love their job and really care about helping other people. Cranberry Home Care is very good about working with the family. If the family were to find another agency or private care to come in, they work with everyone that comes into the home, and they work out a schedule with the family. They're very flexible. They really listen to what the family's needs are and provide referral to other agencies that may help, for instance, possible veterans benefits like for my father and possibly we needed elder attorney. They were able to refer us to a couple different names. They have been very helpful."

"The South Shore and Cape teams at Comfort Keepers have been great. Although my parents did not always have consistency of caregivers - all of the ones we did have were great. They do have a rule that caregivers not bring phones or electronics in the home and our caregivers followed this to the letter. We moved out of the area - but if we ever to return I would call them immediately. "

Given the high cost of in-home care, many people use one or more forms of financial assistance to cover the expenses. Below, we explain some of the most common sources of financial help for paying for in-home care. If none of these options are available to you, you can reach out to your Area Agency on Aging or Aging and Disability Resource Center to learn about local resources.
Home care services are only one of the pieces needed for seniors to gracefully age in place. There are many services and programs that are low-cost or free, that enable seniors to enjoy an independent lifestyle in the comfort of their own home, such as help with home modifications, meal delivery services, and more. Below, we’ve compiled a few of the most helpful resources in Wareham:

Their services include health screenings, social day care, fuel assistance and local transportation. They also offer loans for durable medical equipment which can help low-income seniors afford major quality-of-life improvements. The council is able to provide these services through taxes, donations and volunteers from the community. |
Aging can be a difficult process, and loved ones may not always ask for help – often times it’s up to their family to evaluate their need for help around the house. While no two situations are exactly alike, this checklist can help you and your loved ones determine when it’s time to start the search for a home care provider.

If you’ve determined that your loved one needs the assistance of a care provider in their home, it may be time for a difficult conversation. Handled correctly, however, this process can bring a family together and ensure that everyone’s concerns are addressed. Use this PDF as a starting point to help the conversation stay as positive and productive as possible.
