Hospice By The Bay is California's first hospice and the second oldest in the nation. We have the experience to provide the highest quality care and comfort to patients of all ages and exceptional support to families and caregivers. Hospice By The Bay puts patients and families at the center of care. Medicare or insurance covers our comprehensive, personalized care, so families have no out-of-pocket expense for essentials, such as medical equipment or prescriptions. In some locations, care is offered in Spanish and Chinese. HBTB team members visit regularly to provide hospice care in the home, a nursing or residential facility, or hospital. Nurses are specially trained in end-of-life care. They partner with the patient's physician to increase comfort and quality of life. Nurses arrange for medical equipment, medication and treatment, and are available 24-hours-a-day by phone or for an emergency visit. Social Workers answer questions about HBTB services, insurance, financial and legal issues (including advance care planning), and local resources. Home Health Aides help with personal care, such as bathing and dressing. Trained Volunteers assist with household chores and respite for caregivers. Spiritual Support Counselors offer support in the family's own faith tradition and help with memorial activities.
