My father-in-law is at The Wyngate Parkersburg. It is a really nice facility. I wanted an atmosphere that was not like a nursing home. I want people sitting out in the halls. The rooms are a lot nicer and bigger. It is costly. When you look at the other places, it's not really that costly. It is clean. It is a nice facility. They are very friendly, and they would go out of their way to help you. They have been great with my father-in-law. He is not eating well, but it is not their fault. They have activities every day. They have bingo, a book mobile comes around, parties, happy hour on Fridays with beer and wine. It is easy to navigate. It is on flat grounds, and everything is right there within arm's reach. It is costly, but it is nice. With the other facilities, they were about the same money; he was not gonna get the room or the care he was getting here.

We visited The Wyngate Parkersburg assisted living because their independent living was cottages and they have a very long waiting list there. It looked like a very nice place to be, but the rooms were very small and it was darker. The personnel that we dealt with while she was polite and informative, I didn't get a warm, fuzzy feeling with her. It probably would have been our second choice, but only under the condition that we would be put in an assisted living apartment until an independent became available. We were not that keen on the assisted living part. I have heard very good things from friends about their independent living. The location is ideal. I would've chosen it for location any day. My personal opinion was that the staff did her job, but I wasn't impressed. A friend of mine has parents who live there in the Independent living, and they can do nothing, but say good things about her. We just had a bad day maybe.

My mother-in-law was a resident of The Wyngate. The food was excellent, and the staff was always nice and tried to be helpful. They dont offer sufficient training, and they can't deal with someone with my mother's condition. If you're just looking for a place where someone could keep an eye out for your loved one but they're pretty much self-sufficient, then Wyngate would be excellent for them. They don't have a locked down memory area, and they basically dont cater to that type of situation. They provide all kinds of games and movie nights, they also do skilled activities for the residents, which is pretty awesome. I love the facilities, the building itself is clean, and very well-done. The rooms are all nice, they're all private rooms, everybody can bring their own things, and it's really nice.
