The Holiday Virginian independent living is updated so it's very clean. As people are moving out, they're updating all the rooms. My cousin's room is a studio, which is great for him. I was hoping just to have him there temporarily as he is recovering from back surgery. They have CNAs on the premises and two different groups so we just hired them to help with his knees. I haven't had any issues with the staff. They've been very helpful from the time my cousin went in to live there. They are also very reasonably priced. It was clean and neat and most of it was updated so I made my decision right away. I didn't even go to another facility anymore. I don't think they have a whole lot of activities but I know they have bingo, puzzles, and drawing. Once every week they have some kind of theme with snacks and food in the afternoon, and it looks like a lot of the people there enjoy that. They had a Labor Day celebration, which was very nice. They also have cookouts outside. The food is not 5-star but on the whole, it's pretty good. It's a lot better than the food at rehab facilities. They have a main dish and then you could ask for a couple of different other things that were listed at the bottom of their menu. They probably need to gear more toward senior eating because I know my cousin is a picky eater. One time they had jambalaya and another night they had kielbasa or something like that. It's not something you want to see for senior citizens. The food is fairly good though, it's close to restaurant quality. It's not bad if you're cooking for that many people.

I was a resident of Holiday Virginian. The food is not good. They need to improve on the food and maintenance cleaning. The staff was awful. The only thing they have is bingo. My room is okay.

Holiday Virginian was very nice. They have chefs. For breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you have a choice. For lunch, they have entrees like roast beef and you can have a salad. They always have homestyle chicken pot pie, pastrami and rye, and they have several things. It's not just you go there and there's one thing. They have choices. They have a lot of events. There are almost 3 or 4 things like shopping excursions. It's common for these places to have buses that go. Every day they have cardio. Then they have a game room, an evening watch party, yoga, aromatherapy, painting classes, and different kinds of things that people might like. It's very clean. The rooms are fine.

The Holiday Virginian was very interesting. I like the layout, and the size of their single-bedroom apartments was fine. I also had a meal there for lunch, which was very good. The service was particularly good too. During the meal, I got to sit with a person who lives there. Everything about it was really nice and I appreciated the tour. The place is independent living. The young lady who took us through may walk a little too fast for me but it was alright. She was very cordial during the whole visit. Since then, we've talked several times too and they understand that I just wasn't ready for the move yet. I didn't really get to see the activity facilities so much but everything else was good. They even had a television room where they showed motion pictures. The facilities were impeccable.

I toured Holiday Virginian. It's very nice. The rooms were awesome. The things that they offered were beyond expectations. I want my seniors to live there. The facility was nice and clean. The people were friendly. It exceeded my expectations. The staff was able to help me decide what was best for me. They were very informative. They gave me extra information that I didn't even know I needed. They were very helpful.

My father-in-law moved to Holiday Virginian. The building is in an outstanding state. It's very clean, super nice, and decorated. There's a lot of lighting throughout the building. The staff is super friendly and always willing to help. The food is good. They have two chefs and they have been also helping 100% with whatever they need. They have somebody that comes in to style their hair and they have physical therapy. They have doctors that can come over, too. They have one company that comes over and sees them. We don't need to take them out. They have caregivers there and they are very, very nice. They have laundry, cleaning services, and everything. The price is very good.

The tour at Holiday Virginian was very good. They're very cooperative, very outgoing, showed us everything we wanted to see, we were very pleased with the surroundings and the cleanliness of the place. The only drawback was the pricing was much higher than the other places we looked at. We met several staff members. They were very polite and seemed interested in everybody's welfare. The rooms are very nice, about average size from what we've seen elsewhere. Very clean and well-maintained. I was a little surprised to find that when you get a two-bedroom size, you get the kitchenette, whereas in some of the other places you get the full kitchen. So, that was a little disappointing, especially at that price. We did not try the food, but we saw a couple of meals being served, and it looked very good.

The staff was very friendly. They were talking about their activities, and that they would love to have us there. I was really impressed with that. The person that was there (I think she was the activities director) came by and spoke with us. The physical appearance was good, and the cleanliness of the place. It was a little dated. The staff said they were getting ready to change the carpet and everything. They were pleased about that. The rooms and the apartment that we looked at was nice.

I felt that the staff was really friendly. The person who toured us, Alicia, was really nice. It was a little older building, but she said they were about to be remodeled, so I liked that. Then they had a little call button that each resident would get to hang around their neck. They could push that little call button so they can get the ambulance or somebody to help them. The two-bedroom apartment didn't have enough storage space. It was basically one little closet. The floors were sticky everywhere we went. I felt like there could have been a little bit more cleaning done. The cafeteria needed to be mopped as well. Other than that, everybody seemed to be friendlier than the other places. Both my parents and I liked that they have cottages where you can actually go in and out through your own door instead of going into the facility. It was like a one story cottage that was on the outside. They had a nice movie room with movie theater seats in it. There also was a pool room.

My mother-in-law didn't like it at all. She didn't like that one not because the staff was rude or anything like that. I think when we went up to the second floor to see some of the room layouts, there was a foul odor, and the staff kept making excuses for it. The smell was so bad, I was like, 'Can I just hurry up and leave?' There, you only could do like a one-bedroom or a two-bedroom. The layouts were pretty much the same as the other facility, and they pretty much had the same amenities. The other thing is that it was too far away from where she had wanted to be, too. The staff was fine though. They had a big dining room area, and they had a chef that prepared all the meals.

I liked everything about it. The apartments, the meal that we had there, the staff, the dining facilities were all very nice. They offered a lot of services, which I thought was good. If I had decided to move at that point, I would have moved there. The one-bedroom that we saw had a separate bedroom, a living room, a small kitchenette, and a bath. They all looked very good. I liked the idea that they provided meals if you don't feel like cooking and that they clean your apartment. They had a lot of things that they offered, like clubs, activities, and transportation to doctors (that was an important one to me). They had a library, a movie room, and all kinds of things that you could use.

this is over priced for the quality of the facility. Speak to other residents or look into their eyes before you commit. Lunch id the big meal of the day and it tastes like hospital food. Dinner is pitiful. small servings and often cold food. Sandwiches and jello or salads.

It was very friendly, and we felt very welcomed. It only had a kitchenette though, and I want a kitchen, and I would prefer my own laundry area in the apartment. Theirs was a shared laundry. Those were the reasons why I didn't choose that one, but overall, they were very nice. The food was good. I feel like it's a nice place if you don't mind not having a kitchen and not having your own laundry services. The apartments were nice, roomy, and well placed. The balcony was nice. The one we toured had a screened porch and that was awesome. The dining room had a lot of residents in there and it was friendly. The serving staff was very friendly and accommodating. They made sure that we were served, and I noticed that they weren't just accommodating to me because obviously, we were visitors, but to the other residents there, they were very friendly and on a personal basis with them, too. I noticed a gazebo outside and that looked nice. The grounds were well kept and they also wouldn't mind if you bring in your pet, which was nice. The staff during the tour was great. The food was good. We had several choices that day, and our table chose different things and everything looked nice and good. I had baked spaghetti and it was awesome. I also had salad and the dessert was good. You don't have to cook for yourself, so that's good.

My daughter is staying here. She's younger than most, she's only 59, and we were concerned that she would not blend in easily with the older residents, but she is doing very well. She's enjoying it and adapting very easily. The layout of the building is good for her. The people are all friendly and every single resident we have met has told us moving here has been the best thing they ever did. She is in a studio apartment and it is large enough for her to have her bedroom section, a kitchenette with a sink, counters, kitchen cabinets, and a full-size refrigerator. There is room enough for her to have a kitchen table, chairs, a daybed sofa, two large cabinets, bookcases, and a bathroom with all the grab bars. So, it's a nice large space for her and she's very happy with that. She can get to the dining room, which is one floor beneath her by the elevator, so that's easy for her. She's exactly across the hall from the library too and just down the hall from a couple of exercise bikes. She gets three meals a day, they bring her new bedding and towels once a week, and somebody comes in to do the cleaning once a week. There's plenty of activities and transportation to and from doctors. All of the management people have been extremely helpful. It's almost like they've gone out of their way to help us get her in and get the furniture in. It was a very wonderful experience. From the sales to moving her in and monitoring her since she's been in, we've been very satisfied. I've eaten one meal with her, but it was excellent. The only thing was, there's only one elevator for the entire building with the four floors, and they all recognize that.

It was very nice, very nice, very open, very clean, and the people were friendly. I did not stay for a meal. I was supposed to go back and do that, and I have not done it, but I was very impressed with it, and it's very close to my home. The person that gave me some information was of course, very informative, and knew what they were talking about, and answered my questions, and I was very comfortable with the whole thing. I happen to have a friend that lives there, and they have no intentions of moving; they said they like it. I visited the dining room and game room. They had a reading room, like a library, and a lobby that was very comfortably furnished, and the way it was laid out, you could interact or go out or whatever. There were just some people standing around, talking, and playing the games. I think they were playing pool, and they had a television, a couple televisions, and just people going about their daily routine, like everybody was comfortable. It's a great location, it's near hospitals, drugstores, grocery stores, entertainment, very quiet, and lots of parking.

It was nice. They were in the process of doing a lot of remodeling to it. It looked very clean from what we could tell. It was very nice. It had a lot of good things for the people that live there. They had activities and different things going on. We looked in a couple of the units. The room size was good, and there's a lot of closet space. We just met the one who was doing the tour with us, and she was very nice and very knowledgeable.

The staff was very friendly and outgoing. They went out of their way to greet me. The facility was excellent. I had a chance to chat with the chef, who is very involved and very caring. The staff was extremely caring. They talked with the resident who needed some emotional consoling, and they were right there for her, and that was lovely.

We liked it. They had a number of activities for people to do. We ate lunch at that location and the food was good. The fact that they provide transportation to local places is a feature that my father likes very well. The people seemed very nice and friendly. We saw the apartments where they were doing some renovations, and the renovations looked very nice. The staff was very friendly when we spoke with them. They followed up beforehand and followed up after. We also met the chef and some of the folks. The facility was clean and well-kept, and the upgrades they were making were good.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. I got to tour this for my dad. The rooms were nice, but the refrigerator was very small, and low to the ground. The facility was very nice, and the dining room was nice, too. They offered lots of activities like crafts, social events, outings, and church services. The location was very nice, peaceful, and pretty natural.

It was very beautiful. Everybody was very friendly. It would definitely be a nice place to live. I think they did everything. I went to some of the rooms, and I was really impressed. They were very nice. I went to the cottages, and they were really nice, too. The staff was fabulous and very nice. It was very clean. They had a movie theater in there, they had a hair salon, and they were getting loaded up to go shopping when we got there.

The difference between this community and the other one that we looked at was the layout and lighting. There was much more natural light here. Services and everything were pretty much identical, but the room sizes and layouts were significantly less at this place. They had the movie theater, the activity area, and they offered three meals a day. The staff during the tour was friendly, cooperative, informative, and answered questions. It felt more like a hotel.

We think it is the most probable place for us. The apartments were wonderful and we even considered a studio unit there. The mix of ages was far much better than the last place we visited, and I saw nothing that was disturbing. I liked the packages of amenities that the staff has put together, like the PT coming in and being in the building, the relationship with Sheltering Arms so you can use the pool and equipment there, and having the PAs coming into the building. Those things as well as the age group are what is driving us there.

I toured and it was a very positive experience. They were attentive, informative, and they gave me a folder with a lot of information. They have very nice apartments, and it would have been well suited for my father. I thought the dining area was impressive, it was very clean, the food had a good presentation, and they seemed to accommodate different diets. It was very pleasant looking, very clean, and very well kept.

We liked it. We thought it was a good option for my mom had her health been better. They have good services it seems, a very good staff, and pretty good accommodations. If my mom had been able, we probably would have given it a try. The person who gave us the tour was very good. She was very confident. Overall, I thought it was a good option for people who can live independently.

Seems to be a very friendly environment. While visiting a relative of a friend, we were walking on the main level which is actually the second floor to go Visit. We were stunned by the odor of cigarette smoke. We thought it was a no smoking facility. We were told the pavilion at the front entrance is where residents go if they smoke. My concern was the danger because my friend’s relative uses oxygen and we noticed other residents had “no smoking/oxygen notices” near their door. We went to talk to management but no one was in the office or at the receptionist’s desk. (It was lunchtime) The apartment was nice, spaciousness and enough room for essentials. Kitchen had plenty of cabinets, countertop, fridge and small sink. Bathroom was an adequate size with handicapped bars for safety. There is a nice size window in living area and bedroom. Really nice if you like natural light. The apartment I went into did not have patio but my friend said some do. If I was living at the Virginian I would request an apt with a patio. Had a large dining room and it was full when we walked by the balcony overlooking it. My recommendation would be five stars but smelling the odor on the main level was unpleasant. Hopefully management will read this review, investigate and solve this issue.

The location is not far from where we lived before, so everything around it is pretty familiar. The people seemed to be very happy. We liked it. We ate several good meals there. We wanted a two-bedroom, but there aren't any available, so we're moving into a one-bedroom initially. The rooms are notlarge, which kind of disappointed us. Otherwise, all the facilities were very good. The staff as well as the residents seemed very good. They have a library, a movie theater, and a very good dining room. They seemed to have a lot of activities, and we've been to one or two of them to see what they were like. Everything seemed to be excellent.

The majority of the residents are in wheelchairs or using walkers. They are unable to walk without assistance and there is only one small elevator. If there was a fire! ????I don't know how they meet the fire /health codes. The smell is rather unpleasant as well as the food. Managers change constantly and no one is one site at night.

I liked the building but not when I walked inside some of the rooms because they smelled really bad. I saw a lot of people in wheelchairs, and it broke my heart. The representative was a 5 because she was thorough, very knowledgeable, and took the time to help me. She was really awesome and very attentive. I want to live in a place where the person managing it is just like her.

It was small. The food seemed to be good. I have eaten there twice, and both times the meals were decent. The 1 bedroom apartment that I saw was smaller than I wanted, and they also showed me a 2 bedroom unit, but I didn’t like the layout. The staff seemed nice, and the pricing is reasonable -- less expensive than where I am living right now.

It seemed a little more affordable to us. We had a good visiting experience at this place and would be the place we would choose. The staff was friendly and absolutely accommodating. They invited us back for a free meal and all that, just for us to get more acquainted with the place, but we're just not ready for that yet. They had an exercise room, a very nice theater, and the whole thing was very attractive. The dining area looked pretty good to me, and it smelled good.

It was very bright and had a lot of light, which I liked. They did have two full-time managers as far as I can remember. The recreational staff was there, and I talked with them. The rooms were a bit smaller than the other place I saw, but it was still a nice size with very nice windows. The recreational activities were kind of boring because it was sort of the same stuff every day, and it wasn’t a lot of variety.

I was very impressed. I actually wanted to make it mom’s place until she fell and stayed in the hospital. I realized that she could be there for a year or so and then we have to move because of her care needs. But it was very nice. The head staff there could help with assistance as far as medication. The chef was excellent, and I really liked their recipes. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was very good, and the monthly rent was well below.

My mother-in-law is here. It was actually the closest one that we could find within our price range. The staff is great. The rooms are also great. My mother-in-law is in a one-bedroom, which is pretty spacious and very nice. They have quite a few activities that my mother-in-law does all day long. She does bingo, yoga, and some exercise classes. She has never exercised before in her life, so that is pretty cool. They also have movie nights and games that they play. Regarding the food though, she doesn't like it. She says it is always cold or bland.

My in-laws are now here. We chose this facility because they meet their needs over and beyond. Also the price is great. The facility is clean. My in-laws are doing very well. They have adjusted very well there. Also they moved them in with no extra charge. Their room is gorgeous. There's a cathedral ceiling. It's beautiful. The staff is very nice. They're caring people. They would call their residents by their name. They have lots of activities. They have karaoke. They have aerobics that they do in their chairs. They have different people come like they might be people that service hearing aids and also they have musical groups that come in as well. They have church services for different denominations on different times. They have a little bus that takes them to different places. They even take them to their doctors' appointments. Regarding food, sometimes it is good, but sometimes it is plain. Overall, what I like best about this facility is not being worried about my in-laws and the security of having staff there 24/7.

Very intimate environment with about 108 units. Friendly and professional staff, the managers are servers at the meals which are served on the 3rd floor of a 4 floor facility. Very veteran friendly, utilities and cable included in this modestly priced facility located adjacent to an assisted living facility making it convenient for a resident whose level of care may change from indepdendent to a higher level requiring assistance.

She chose Virginian because the facility was something that suites her needs. It provided three meals a day. It's a ground floor living facility and that is good to her because she couldn't get upstairs very easily as mobility is a problem for her. She got a two bedroom apartment although it was a downsize place for her, but still reasonable. It's a really nice place and it got some transportation. It is also close to a rehab facility. I would recommend this facility to others if they were looking for an independent living facility.

I wasn't particularly impressed, although that has a lot to do with my preconceived thoughts about these kind of places. The facilities was good. The setting was nice. The staff was very pleasant. They have basically the activities that I'm interested in, although I wish they have a swimming pool. I had a meal there and it was the most awful meal I ever had in my life. Otherwise the place and the accommodations were fine. The only issue I had with it was when I was dealing with their sales person. There was this sales pitch that made me think that what they really want is for me to be there so they can have some more money. I couldn't get past that feeling. Then the bad food reinforced that idea - they want money but they don't want to feed people edible food! Good food is very important to me, so that's certainly enough to turn me away from a place if I'm going to count on them for my meals.

Nicely appearing facility, well kept. My parents have made friends here because of the scheduled meal time, when everyone goes and eats at the same time. The meals are less than what I would hope for, but my parents are reasonably satisfied. The staff is very friendly. My parents came from anther state, so this kind of setting where meals are a part of the package are worth the additional money because it has created social connections for them.
