"I went to Spring Arbor of Fredericksburg. It was very warm, inviting, and personal. Everybody was very friendly. They seemed to enjoy their jobs, and they were the type of people that enjoyed taking care of people. The rooms were large, but I didn't like the carpet. They got this brown Berber carpet, and they need to update their colors and style. The dining area was very pretty, but I didn't try the food there. The staff who gave the tour was very friendly, knowledgeable, and answered all my questions. They were playing cornhole when I got there, as far as activities."

"I toured Jubilation by Silver Companies. It seems to be very active. There's nothing that I liked least. It was far superior. The staff was wonderful. It was a very happy and very pleasant tour. The facility was very clean. The kitchen was very nice. It was nice that there was a place for a washer and dryer. I got a one-bedroom for about the same size as a regular apartment. The bathroom was very nice. It didn't have the handlebars for the handicapped, and they were more than accommodating and asking how many I wanted, where I wanted them, that kind of thing to get it to where I needed. I felt I would be accepted and find friends there. There are a lot of things like a room where you can do yoga and chair exercises. There are two pools. Those saltwater pools, one inside, one outside. You can do aerobics. It was very nice."

"When we visited here, we were very impressed with it. We thought it was a very nice facility. Their apartments were quite nice and seemed spacious. We had lunch there with a couple of residents and the food was quite good. I absolutely recommend this place. "

"Verena at the Glen was very nice. Inside the unit that I went to, I found it very accommodating. Kevin took me around and he was very nice and very informative about taking me around and showing me things. He did a very good job."

"Marian Manor of Stafford is where we have my mother-in-law now. We are very pleased with it. She has dementia, she’s Japanese, she's 87, and she’s a difficult placement. After about the first day or two, she had some big adapting to do, but after that, she settled right in. She’s quite happy. She’s made a little circle of friends, and she’s happy as a lark. It’s everything that we could not provide for her at home. The place is a little bit older, so it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles like some of the new ones. The care that she gets is fabulous. It’s just a small amount of people -- 39 or less -- and they all socialize with each other. They do everything together so they don’t have an opportunity to get lonely. It was a good fit because the place was cozy and quaint, with hummingbird feeders outside. The surroundings are kind of off into the forest area. It was more like home. When we placed her, they asked us what food she preferred. They went out of their way to accommodate her. The meals look awesome -- much better than where she was before -- and she’s happy to eat them. She loves the food, and she’s eating more regularly. The cook is from the Philippines, and in the afternoon, she makes my mother-in-law’s favorite green tea in a pot so she can have afternoon tea. That’s something that she’s done all her life, so it’s been really good. "

"We toured Elizabeth House. I like the fact that they have a smaller number of residents, at least currently. The place was clean. They seemed to have many activities for the residents, and they were able to utilize them easily. It's in a convenient location for our extended family to visit. The staff was friendly. It's a little bit old, but it had well-kept grounds. The inside was clean and neat. I thought the rooms were a good size. It felt like a college dormitory."

"Sancerre Atlee Station is brand new. It's within three miles from our daughter's home and also about three miles from a local medical facility hospital in the area. We liked the apartments that were available. We liked the size, what they looked like, and all that. The staff was very informative and answered our questions. The facility was very clean."

"Pleasant family atmosphere. Sincerely caring staff and a home like feeling. Spacious living room and nice clean rooms for residents and assistance is available 24/7. Timely laundry and care to personal needs. "

"I visited The Harmony Collection at Hanover. I didn't have anything that I didn't like. The rooms that we saw were nice. The facility was very nice. The services that they offer are appropriate. In independent living, they only provide one meal. The time of day I went, I didn't get to see a whole lot of the residents, but the staff informed me of the activities that they have and she showed me the activity room. They go out shopping and to dinner and they have entertainment that comes in. They have a van. They have a nice outdoor space. The dining room was nice. The facility was very clean from what I could see."

"I did a tour and the place was very clean and the staff was very helpful answering questions and addressing any concerns I had."

"I toured Essex House for my father. It was very nice, and he can take with him a lot of his own things. But they didn't accept Medicaid, and the social security wasn't enough to cover the monthly fee. I like that it was close by. The room I looked at was empty and they had cable setup and everything. It would have been furnished with his own belongings. It's just a small community with about 40 people, but it was nice and cozy. The dining and living areas were setup with nice furnishings. The staff who showed us around was the lady that was in charge and she was very forthcoming about the amenities and everything. The appearance of the place is beautiful and clean. It's right off of a creek."

"I visited Commonwealth Senior Living at the West End. It was nice. It was small, but it was still clean and neat. The rooms were small, too. The staff member was very helpful. She followed up several times and called me back. The dining area looked like restaurant quality. I met the chef and she seemed nice. If you don't want to eat what they're having, sometimes they will fix something different for you. The seating areas were apart from each other. No one was really eating in the dining rooms at the time when I visited because of COVID, but they're preparing to go back to dining room eating. It was neat and clean."

"I have been to this facility for respite care a couple of times. Anytime that I need a little getaway, I come here and it feels just about like home. Everyone here goes above and beyond and are always really nice. I enjoy meeting new people in the activities that the facility provides and have fun eating 'restaurant style' in their dining room. I have made some good friends in the times that I've been here and really appreciate the time that everyone took to spend with me. "

"Cardinal Village was very homey and everybody seemed to like each other. The rooms were spacious and just average depending on which room you get. It did not smell. If I do not smell anything, then I go with it. How the staff interacts with the elderly is also what I look for. Everybody there was very nice. When we walked by and talked to them, they stopped, even though they were not on the tour with me, so I liked it. The food smelled good, but I did not get to see it. The menu looked very appealing, and they had a lot of activities."
