My husband was a resident of this facility for a short period of time (1-1/2 months) prior to his death in August, 2005. Although the decision to place him in a nursing home was a difficult one, it was made much easier upon visiting the facility and meeting the staff. Although it is an older facility, it was very clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly and compassionate and never hesitated to answer any questions that I had. There were two instances where my husband fell out of his bed, and I was called promptly each time. With all the stories you hear of abuse, I was very apprehensive about placing him under someone else's care, but never at any time did I have any concerns about the care he was receiving. When his illness advanced, the staff was very cooperative with Hospice. They did everything they could to make my husband as comfortable as possible, and made a very difficult situation much easier to bear.

Edgewood Manor talked a real good game. They said that they would do the therapy and my mother would be able to walk the halls and talk with the other people that were there. They've got a hallway. Because of CDC (I didn't know about the CDC), when you go into a facility, you're not allowed to go anywhere essentially except they could take her to the activities room and the physical therapy room, and she could be there in her room for 14 days. They don't tell you that. For the first two weeks, she had nothing but a hospital gown on and a diaper. They brought her to a doctor's appointment, and they were a couple of hours late. They had her dress nice, she looked nice, hair pulled up with a rubber band in it, but that's the only time she looked nice the whole time she was over there. She spent 20 days there. I went back over there the day I was gonna get her. They called the day before, "What time do you want to pick her up?" I said, "Between 3 and 5 in the afternoon." I got there around 4:00 or so, and she's not ready to go. She was laying there with a shirt on and with a diaper that she tried to tear one side off. She was soaked and it ran through the pee pads into the bed. She could stand up when she went over there. She could walk and she was eating, but when I got her home, I had to spoon-feed her. The 10 pajama bottoms that she never wore disappeared. I've got four hangers with stuff on it of other people's clothes. I would not recommend it. I would give it no stars.

I would like more interaction with the staffing when you arrive at the front desk, more entertainment for our family who lives there. The staff is pretty friendly with the patients as far as I can see, the food has improved, need more activities for them to do, and they stay to themselves to much for me🎶

My parent is at Edgewood Manor. We visited a few, and it seemed like the best fit. I like most its environment. Also, the staff is very good.
