I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My loved one was at Seneca Health & Rehabilitation Center. They weren't too bad, and they weren't too good. They gave her fairly good care. It needed more space per resident. The residential areas weren't large enough. The rooms were small. It was not perfect, but it was clean. My loved one didn't like the food very well. They didn't respond as quickly as they should have, but I thought the staff was okay. They needed to check on their residents more frequently. When I visited, I always saw them sitting outside on a patio, and things like that. They had activities for residents who could participate, but they should have provided more for residents confined to their rooms. With regard to value for money, they're too expensive for what they provide.

My sister is in Seneca Health and Rehabilitation Center. I'm not happy with that place at all, but I don't have a choice. There's nowhere else that has a Medicaid bed for her. She's not very happy with it. A lot of people go there when they have to have rehab after the operation and they need something done. They also have a lot of elderly people there. I just don't believe they take care of them like they should. Their staff is friendly, but they don't go in and check on her at all. They're not doing what they should be doing for the client. They could be better. She's in a wheelchair and they don't help her get out of bed in the morning. She keeps ringing the buzzer and they don't come in, and when they do, they do not get her in the wheelchair. She's just left to be there. They don't come in and check on her and help her to the bathroom and stuff like they should.

Room dirty, o2 machine kept going off because it wouldnt stay plugged in to the outlet. Nurses were rude sister had to use bathroom and needed assistance because she couldnt get up or walk on her own and she was told to stop ringing the bell. She went 24 hours without her medication because they didnt order it. I had to speak to the head nurse in charged but didnt get anywhere with her. The only time my sister was taken care of was when her husband was there, he had stayed with her a couple of nights until she was taken out of this sorry place,. I prayer this nurse never have to send one of there family members to a bad place like this one. PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVE ONES TO THIS PLACE. GO AND INSPECT IT FIRST..

My brother has been a resident for a while and is handicapped. he recently had a 10 hr. major back surgery. I was going to send him to another facility, but I was assured he would get excellent re-hab there. This has not been the case, he lays for days without getting him up. I can't get any one to answer or call me back. I am at my wits end!

Overall it was a decent experience. Would have been nice to get my ice water in less than 4 hours after I ask for it from the night shift.

The staff is lazy , they do not help the patients while they are screaming out. The nurses are very rude with an exception of a couple when you ask a question. My dad's clothes was taken and never replaced after I bought all new clothes for him. They stressed to me that it is all about the money. My dad isn't ready to come home and one of their own specialist recommend that he not come home. The social worker along with the lady that works in business told me it wasn't their problem. His Medicare runs out on Monday and he will be sent home. I explained that he was approved for Medicaid but they didn't want to here it. This is the worst place ever.

There are a lot of wonderful, caring workers at SHAR. The administration moved dad to a private room so we could be with him during his last days. I am so appreciative of that!

Provider Response

We are very happy to have provided you with such a positive experience! Thank you again for taking the time to let us know how we did. We hope you have a great day!

I have always admired the consistency of the staff there Inc the rehab department. They have excellent therapists and their social worker is wonderful to work with. She cares about her patients greatly. They do a wonderful job taking care of very medically complex patients.

My aunt entered for rehab and then moved to the long term care side. All the staff in both rehab and long term has always spoken to every resident when they walk by. A maintenance worker stopped what he was doing to push a person in a wheelchair to the dining room. Lissa P. an aide and Tracey have been wonderful. Both speech and physical therapy groups were wonderful in working with my aunt. Activities are varied and enjoyed by many. The activity director is great and creative. The office staff has been great in explaining things especially Ms. LeAnne. Seneca Health has really improved from a few years ago when another aunt was here.

My grandpa did rehab at Seneca Health and Rehab and our experience there was great. Staff would always make me and my family welcome. The food wasn't the greatest but, no food away from home is good because they can't use seasonings like we would at home and that's truly understandable. The therapy was a true blessing because my grandpa went home and is still doing great. Seneca Health and Rehab was a true blessing to me and my family. I don't know what we would have done if it wasn't for an amazing group of people!!!. Keep up the good work Seneca YOU Rock!!

My family use to be a pt here and now had to go back. A lot has changed since the last visit years ago. The quality of care has went down way down. I recall the nurses loving the pts they could tell fast the change in condition from day to day and would call you just to let you know. They CNA staff was good nice clean and had good bed side. I remember the managers in dietary where on top of things food was good and if you had a issue and called Debbie or Kesha would walk down speak with you and no more problems. Kesha was a ray of sunshine daily when you saw her. If you went to the kitchen for something it was smiles from staff and kitchen was clean and food was wonderful. We use to sign up and eat with mom all the time. My mom was not in here long and we left it has went DOWN HILL and its sad.

My sister has been in Seneca Health and Rehab for about a month now. It's been wonderful. So far the staff has been really great. The place is not luxurious, but it is clean and seems to be well run. She's getting physical therapy every day.

I am the sister in law of a patient with multiple fractures, who is in the rehab unit. The physical therapy staff have been terrific -- good expertise, very attentive, energetic, and good motivators. They also communicate very well with the patient and with the family members. They are the core of his very good care. The nursing and nursing assistant staff also are responsive and nice. This is an older facility, but they make an effort to keep it clean and presentable. In the end it is the staff themselves who are the important factor.

I visited this facility

I have a loved one in ACS Seneca for rehab. I visited patient every day for many hours and witnessed the program and care. The program is terribly minimal: hardly one hour per day. there is barely mention for patient to get out of bed. This is not rehab! If you can choose: DO NOT COME HERE! This is worst place for a diabetic! No education or understanding of this disease for personal care or nutrition. Patient received 2 showers in 4 weeks. Often patient slept in clothes & wore those clothes for 2-3 days. bed linens were changed when asked. Cotton balls from blood checks left on patient bed. This place is not rehab. Food is minimal- no fresh fruit or vegetable, rarely a green salad. Not good for rehab!

Whie this is not a A1 rated facility, find one that is! Yes, they do have a high turnover rate of staff and yes there are issues that greatly need to be addressed and CORRECTED. My loved one has been in there for several months now and I am very happy with the care that they get, is it the greatest, NO. The greatest would only be if thery were home with their family.BUT, I will say this, I visit A LOT at all times of the day and night.I am a handson caregiver for my loved one and I am VERY proactive in their care. You have to do your part!! Would I choose this place again, yes, I probably would.

This is a horrible facility. If you care about anyone who may need this type of facility DO NOT let them near this place. The nurses in charge are only concerned about one thing Eating. They are unprofessional and I'm not sure how any of them were about to get through nursing school let alone obtain their license.. The facility is so nastythat I don't know how they ever pass an inspection. You never get answers to any questions or concerns. They are not kind to the patients. They leave people unattended who are fall risks. This facility should be shut down.Physical therapy is a joke.If you can check out several places in Greenville county.Oconee county needs more options but until more facilities are available stay away from here.It is a House of Horrors.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I had a friend who has cancer who is at Seneca Health and Rehab. The facility had a lot of turnover. Some of the staff there were okay. The nurses did not seem that caring. The assistants were a lot nicer, but still it's not a pleasant place to go. It's not a clean facility and this includes the patient's room. The residents there are just sitting in their chairs in their hallways. He was so sick at that time to participate in any activity. There are three things they need to improve on. One is the cleanliness of the facility. Two is the way their nurses treat their patients and three is they need to improve on their food because it's not very good and almost not edible.
