I was very impressed with Pee Dee Gardens and with Melody, the marketing gal who I spoke with. It's in a nice area, and it's two doors down from an urgent care center. It has a memory wing. It is small, so there were fewer strange faces for the residents to deal with. They have a unique payment structure. It's a flat fee. They don't do it by how many meds you take or how much service. I was very impressed with them and the facility. They have a podiatrist who comes in quarterly. They have a certified nurse that comes in weekly. They have all the regular shuttle service stuff and everything. I was very pleased with them. We basically went around assisted living. The only difference with memory care were the locks on the doors.

My mother moved into Pee Dee Gardens. It was as easy as it could be, because it's a great location. It's not even 20 miles from where Mom's house was, so there's a lot of traffic through there just going to Florence, the town where most of the people shop and the little town she lived in. She has one daughter six minutes away, another daughter about 20 minutes away, and another granddaughter which is three minutes away, so she's surrounded by help as needed. So that's worked well. I can't say enough about the people at Pee Dee Gardens there. Melody and the crowd have just been absolutely wonderful as far as the transition and making sure that Mom feels loved and feels at home, and they've just been just wonderful. I couldn't ask for better.

Pee Dee Gardens offers a flat-rate pricing. So that meals, all the services are covered. They also provide transportation to all our doctor's appointments and administer your medication here. I think they have two or three different room sizes, such as double rooms and single rooms, that you could choose from. They have good kinds of activities, that includes an exercise program, games, bingo that's being played every day, and an emergency call system in case you need somebody to come to your room to help you with something. They provide showers assistance twice a week and three meals a day too. The facility looks very good. They keep it clean on the inside and the outside. They clean the rooms more often than once a week, and the building is well maintained and safe. All the staff members are very attentive, cooperative, and helpful. The food is also tasty, but I personally think that it's not particularly healthy. It's lacking in fruits, vegetables, a very good protein content, and a lot of carbohydrates. It's a very affordable place though and it's a good value for the money.

My mom has been at Pee Dee Gardens since May and we found it to be the right solution for her. It is a smaller community. They give my mom a lot of personalized care. They told me, "You don't have to worry about what level of care your mother has, whether it is minor, average, or significant, we're going to take care of her no matter what." The staff seems to be genuine and enjoy their work. They really care about the residents. They're very responsive and very caring. The food is very good. They serve hot breakfast every morning and they have a good lunch -- which is the main meal of the day -- and at night the meal is lighter, like a sandwich and a bowl of soup. Their food is tasty and nutritious. My mother seems to enjoy it. They have devotional in the morning, Bingo, pictionary, and sing-a-longs. They also have church service on Sunday.
