I visited this facility

I toured Atria Forest Lake. Ben was very nice, the man that took us on a tour. However, the location is a little tight and more crowded than what we were looking for, and it just wasn't the right fit for my friend. The room was nice, but a little bit small. It was also more expensive, and they did not include quite as much as the other places do. All the meals were included, and they had good amenities and stuff, but the residents didn't seem as happy and friendly there. Now, the staff were wonderful. They were very nice. The place was really pretty. They had nice gardens and things like that. It was just a different feel. Nevertheless, they did a really good job on the tour. It was a very lovely building.

My mother is staying at Atria Forest Lake for a short-term respite stay. We liked Atria because of the overall atmosphere. It was very bright, well-kept, and clean. We also liked the professionalism and the friendliness of the staff that we met. All of the residents seemed to be well taken care of and happy. We considered the actual physical structure, the staff, and the residents that we encountered. I got a chance to have several meals with my mom as she was settling in the first three days. The meals were delicious and well-prepared. My mom also enjoyed them. They have a variety of activities that keep the residents busy all day. They have exercise, art, educational activities, music, and excursions around the city. There is a nice variety of activities scheduled throughout the day. It's located conveniently near shopping centers and nice restaurants.

My Mother was a resident here and I kept getting calls in the middle of the night that she had fallen and was in the ER. I asked if I could buy alarm mats for her room and was told no. I ended up moving her and when someone from DHEC was at that facility I asked him about it. He told me I should have been able to do that without any problems.

I loved Atria Forest Lake. The staff is friendly. The rooms are nice. I'd say they're older, but they're very well-kept. Everything there is bright, well-kept, and very informational. I probably would have chosen that had their prices not gone up, and they had a huge rate increase, like 8% before. I'm sure they have annual increases, but that 8% Social Security raise that everybody got, they took the whole thing. They went up that much in their rent, so they took the whole thing. I went there twice; once by myself, and then I went back and took my brother, my mother, and my sister to look at it. I don't think it was a month between the time I went by myself and the time I brought them back, but they had already gone up in their price. That was in the last 3 months. I saw the dining room, but we did not eat there. They were doing activities when I was there. It was Veterans Day when I went because they were doing their little Veterans Day thing. Everybody was friendly. I met some of the people who live there. I liked it. The only thing that turned me against them was the price jump. They went from $4,100 to over $5,000 for the same room. The room was nice. Everything about it was nice. We were going to go there; we were going to move. My mother even had an assessment there. When they had that price increase, I keep on looking. But I did like the personality of the place.

My mom has moved into Atria Forest Lake. I like it because it has a lot of windows, a lot of sunlight, and a lot of happy colors. It's more uplifting than some other places I've visited. My mother seems to like it. There is a kind of a southern hospitality feel there to the staff and she likes that. So far, I've been very pleased. She has been there for three weeks now. Everything was wonderful. I've eaten with my mother and the food is delicious. In terms of value for money, it's about the same price everywhere I looked, so it's a fair price, and it is an affordable price.

Atria Forest Lake is a homey and small facility. The facility was beautifully well-maintained and it's like you're visiting somebody at home atmosphere. It's more like an apartment complex because it was small, like a sorority house. It was very, very welcoming, it was like living at home and not in an apartment building. The staff who gave the tour was like we had known each other forever. She even offered to bring lunch because my person did not go with me at first. So she wanted to bring lunch to her house to meet her and introduce her to one of the ladies that lived there. She was overwhelmingly accommodating. The rooms had an apartment-sized refrigerator and a microwave.

I loved everything about Atria Forest Lake. It was so much nicer and it was so beautiful. I met all the staff and most of them have been there for 15 to 20 years. They were friendly and as a matter of fact when we came in, they were eating lunch and the food smelled good. They have a salon, a courtyard, and they also take them out to different places and stuff. The rooms were so much bigger than the other two places I visited. There's free cable and it was just a bigger facility. They have more for my mom to do and stuff. It's just wasn't in my price range.

We visited Atria Forest Lake. Everybody was very pleasant. It was very clean and very nice. We were very impressed with it. The staff during the tour was wonderful. Chelsea was fabulous. We loved her. The rooms were very nice. Being a studio and a one-bedroom apartment, they were adequately sized. The dining area was very impressive. It was very nice. They have lots of crafts, exercise activities and places that they would go a couple of times a week. The schedule for activities was really neat. They had some planned activities every day of the week.

My mother moved into Atria Forest Lake. They have some interior painting to do, but other than that it was fine. It was well kept. The staff was very helpful. The food there is excellent. I visit my mother three times a week, I always taste the food myself, and it's good as a Triple-A restaurant. They have physical activities, bingo, they have a weekly meetings with residents that are capable of their own care. My mother's not one of those, she has severe Alzheimer's, but any service you want, they're pretty active in their social activities for the residents, and then they go out on outings pretty regularly. Her room is perfect for one person. It's about the right size for one person in that condition. The bathrooms are the very good-sized bathrooms for whether you will use a walker, or wheelchair bound. There's plenty of room. The misgivings I could give on the room is because of age. The electrical could be updated with some additional outlets, and some additional lighting could be put in. The closet space could be a little bit more, other than that, the room is about right.

My wife will be moving into Atria Forest Lake. It's excellent. It's a bright place and has a lot of good light. They have outdoor spaces, even in the memory care unit. They have planned meals and planned activities for people who just need a little bit of help, or people who are in the memory clinic, but it differs obviously. The payment that I pay in memory care is all inclusive, except for a few minor things like getting a haircut or some things of that nature. Everything is covered. The marketing person was excellent and very accommodating, and so was the director of the facility. The cleanliness was really good. The first time I went there, I noticed that they had some sort of vehicle that bumped into their portico, and was kind of obvious, and the time I came back on the second or third visit, it was all fixed and looked wonderful. I think they do a good job trying to keep maintenance up. I had a good feeling about the Atria, and I just decided that will be a good place. It's also very close to where I live.

My mother-in-law moved into Atria Forest Lake yesterday. So far, so good. The staff has been excellent. I couldn't ask for better. They're just very personable, and everybody is very professional. They've taken good care of her. It's very clean. It's decorated nicely and that was part of why we chose that place. I also liked the cleanliness and all the amenities they have to offer. She said everything's been wonderful. They have a really nice courtyard. They have a library that has fish aquariums, so they can sit and look at things. They have somebody that plays the piano, and I think it's a resident. Normally somebody's playing the piano when you go in.

Atria Forest Lake looked clean, the people looked happy, and I thought the rooms were very nice. It's convenient to where we live. I thought the person who took me around was very nice. They showed me the sunroom, I saw where the dining room was, and it had nice sitting rooms so you could go someplace other than your bedroom. They also have a garden outside where you could sit. The dining room was light and airy, and it was clean and not too cluttered with stuff. I didn't see a lot of medical equipment or anything like that lying around, too many chairs that have been left behind, or anything like that. I thought it was very good; I liked it when I walked in.

Rooms are a comfortable size and I like that my loved one can control the temperature in the room as well. A cable box is provided which allows my loved one to view shows that are of interest to him and the majority of the staff members responsible for caring for my spouse are very courteous and willing to help. The Activities Director fills each day with activities that challenge residents physically and mentally. When days are nice, residents are encouraged to enjoy the garden area which seems to lift their spirits. The dining area is nice and meal options are provided allowing the residents to select their meal of choice.

Dad is getting excellent care in the Memory Care Unit and from the staff interacting with him. His room is decorated with memorabilia from his former home, i.e. pictures, photographs, favorite chair, cuckoo clock, family Bible, etc. When I arrive for a visit, the front desk person always comes to the door in a timely manner and often calls me by name. As I am being led down the hall, I usually see other staff who acknowledge me and are willing to assist in any way. Upon entering the Memory Care area, I find residents watching tv, playing games, conversing, even walking in the courtyard or relaxing on the park benches. When I am not there, I am regularly told that Dad participates in most scheduled activities. I can breathe a sigh of relief that my Father is being well-cared for and his needs are being met. A big THANK YOU to The Atria Staff!

My dad was here a year ago in assisted living but had a health issue that required him to leave and go to rehab. When he returned he needed memory care but on his first day back the entire staff greeted him by name. They truly care about my dad and always go the extra mile for he and I. The facility is not too big and feels very "homey" to us. Dad has a lot of opportunities for activities from bingo to classical music. He (and I) feels safe, secure and cared for. I can wholeheartedly endorse Atria

We have a good relationship with the staff. We are kept informed with any concerns related to my mom. The facility is kept clean and everyone is friendly and professional. Although I have not first hand seen the food service due to the pandemic. What I did see on an early visit looked great so not being more familiar I feel safe to at least rate it four stars

We are particularly impressed with the staff at Atria Forest Drive. All staff there are sensitive and caring. Response times are reasonable when help is needed and staff is very understanding of my mother's individual needs. Most of our requests have been granted. Mom likes the food and the activities that are provided and sometimes takes the bus for outside trips.

I cannot say enough nice things about Atria. My mother lived there for over a year until her condition progressed to a point of needing a much higher level of care. The Atria and the staff were a blessing to mother and to my family. I wish she could've stayed there until the end. When mother first moved in, they permitted me to spend the night for a couple of nights to help her get settled. The residents and staff were so welcoming, and they even treated me to breakfast on the house. I had to take mother to a couple of doctor's appointments, and they made the process really smooth by providing me with a copy of her records and helping with the sign-in/sign-out system. I'm a nurse and work long hours. That first night, I didn't get there until really late and the staff were great about letting me in and showing me where to go, etc. The nursing director, Elizabeth, is an angel. You can tell she really cares about the residents and their families. I often saw her staying after hours, visiting with residents in the dining hall, and freely giving hugs and warm smiles. It's the little things like this that matter! I knew I could always ask questions and she would quickly help me. She was immensely helpful as we navigated a difficult family situation, and for that I will always be grateful. So many of the med techs were just amazing -- attentive and kind. They checked on mother often, reminding her of meal times, chatting with her, making sure she had her medications and that she got showered and ready for bed, etc. Mom made quite a few friends in the techs, and so did I. There were one or two techs who were kind of rough-acting with mother. Unfortunately, no business or facility is ever going to have 100% of the staff going above and beyond. My only other criticism is that Atria has a skeleton crew on weekends, so that can be challenging. None of the admin is there to oversee/direct and they tend to be short-staffed on those days. For this reason, I subtracted one star from what would have been a five-star score. Atria does a great of job of engaging with residents. My mother, unfortunately, was a bit socially withdrawn and didn't want to participate very often, but she was certainly never excluded from being invited. Atria offered exercise classes and social hour, had musical performances in the lobby, church services for those wanting to attend, scenic rides in the bus, etc. There's always something to do for anyone who wants to be active. Four months after mother left Atria, she passed away. During the time in-between, both Nicole (front desk) and Elizabeth (head nurse) checked in with me to see how mom was doing. When they found out she passed away, they sent flowers and called both me and my sister to offer condolences. I would absolutely recommend Atria to anyone looking for a nice place for their senior/aging parents.

Provider Response

Julianna, It was truly our pleasure to serve your mother and your family, and it was an honor to serve your family. Thank you for sharing your family's time at Atria. We will be sure to pass along your kind compliments.

I visited this facility

Atria Forest Lake was a very nice, established facility that's been there for a while. They recently upgraded it. They had very nice grounds and plenty of room. We saw the dining room and the menus, which were fine. There was very little separation between the independent and the assisted living and while the apartment we viewed was excellent, the public restroom that I had to use could've used cleaning. It was smelly with urine on the floor. The part that really turned me off was they gave us one price when we came in and when they found out we were in the process of selling our house, the price suddenly went up by $1,000 a month. They were beautiful on the outside but not nearly so beautiful on the inside. They had a courtyard, a very small exercise room, and a library. The staff was nice, but I didn't get a really good vibe from them. The actual apartment was really nice, in good shape, and very clean, but the public areas could've used some more care, especially the restrooms.

Atria Forest Lake was pretty much a clean facility. The employees were friendly. However, the distance was not conducive to my schedule. I didn't want to put my sister there because I wouldn't have a lot of time to visit her or check on her there. The accommodations were really good. They were more on the same feel as the other facility as far as the way the apartment looked like. They had several different sizes. Their dining hall was accommodating. It was restaurant style.

We're very pleased with Atria. We have a smaller room, but it certainly meets all of my father's needs. The staff has been very helpful. It helped the family to feel like a part of their family. They offer a lot of activities, like exercises, programs, seasonal activities, games, and movies. I eat there at least once a week. The setting is lovely, and the food is good. The dining room is very nice and comfortable. I was most taken with the nice surroundings and the location. They're very attentive, friendly, and helpful.

Atria is beautiful! When you think of assisted living, you tend to think of something similar to a prison! They have a different floor plans (granny got to choose the style that would work best for her), amazing food, you are allowed to have dogs (perfect for my granny cos she loves her dog!), an emergency call system (also perfect for my granny just in case she needs someone) and help if she needs it. The staff are amazing! They seem to really care for her like she is their grandma! That's really important because you know nowadays, people are taking advantage of the elderly! :( Atria just feels like home!
