"My 93 year old mother was in this facility for six months following a broken hip. She was neglected to the point of near death - severe dehydration, untreated urinary tract infection, pressure sores, foot drop. She fell out of bed twice within 12 hours requiring trips to the ER and stitches. I spent around 5 hours a day in this facility with my mother for 33 days until I could get her out. It is a dispicable place. If this is typical of what is acceptable for nursing homes, our society is sorely lacking...I filed complaints with the two different state agencies and talked to countless others - no one cares. My mother, by the way, recovered and is doing well AT HOME. "

"My mother is in Cherokee County Nursing Center. They do have long-term care and also a center for rehabilitation. It was all very good. The food was good, and the staff was very attentive and kind. I have no complaints. The room is very nice, spacious, and well appointed. It's a very nice facility. They do have a lot of activities and social events scheduled for the patients. However, I get a little annoyed that there are no phones in the patients' rooms. There is a phone out of the nursing desk, which is often busy or goes unanswered. It would be better if there were telephones in all the rooms. "

"Go Ye Village was very good and economical, with a very nice people and a good community. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Although the food was good, it wasn’t cuisine, but for what you are getting there, it’s beautiful and healthy food. "

"Fort Gibson Nursing Home is located in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. My grandmother stayed the last year of her life there. I made sure to visit her every day to visit and to check on her. During my visits I was greeted with a very kind front desk staff member. If there was ever a problem they would either call or let me know as soon as I walked in. They always seem to be keeping an eye on her and if they thought there maybe a problem with her medicine they would let me know they had a call into the doctor. That way I always knew if my grandmother had a change in her physical well being it could be due to the new medicine. The area is secure and you can only get in and out by the ladies at the desk which is a positive seeing how my grandmother had Alzheimer's. I want to also mention that it was always clean and they seem to have things in working order. I did have the opportunity to catch them during different times of the day during meal time. They always seem to have a good hot meal served and those that were unable to feed themselves had someone there to do so. One suggestion I would make if, you have someone there or plan on going there make sure you keep personal items labeled with your name and don't keep a lot a things. They seem to get lost easily. Should it be clothing let them know. They probably sent them to a wrong room. Fort Gibson Nursing Home isn't overly huge and I think with that plus having great staff members helps a lot. "

"Quail Ridge Living Center was the best fit for my mom's needs. She went in in skilled nursing, but now she is in long-term care there. I'm very happy with them. The staff members are very caring, very respectful, and considerate of her. I am very, very happy with the care that she's getting there. I have not had a meal with her, but my mom has not complained or anything. They've got bingo, they've got people bringing animals in, and my mom has gotten to help socialize puppies. They allow her little dog to come and visit, too. She is an animal lover, and they have a resident cat that lives there. Joey the cat pays a once-a-day visit. My mom was part of a singing group, and they allowed them to come in on Sunday afternoon and sing with her. So there's plenty of activities just right for her to do and see as much as she wishes. Activities are varied and interesting to her. It's a wonderful value. She has practically no income but is getting excellent care. It doesn't smell and look like a nursing home. They decorate and they keep it clean. My mom's laundry is done with great regularity and not lost or mangled. It's a very good place for her. There is a large area there where she does the dog socialization, and that is where they also do physical therapy, too. However, like any place, there's a lot of wear and tear. They can't keep it all painted, pristine, or anything like that. It's clean and it doesn't smell bad, but the services are great. It is much better than what we expected. "

"Broadway Manor Nursing Home is all in one level, the ground level, and it has three wings. The people I've dealt with who work there are all just really nice people to deal with. Like anything else, it has a few problems, or glitches. I've noticed that sometimes there are too many people taking care of one person. Let's say my mom has a problem and tells a staff member, but that person couldn't solve the problem and says, "Okay, I'll tell so and so who needs to solve it." And it never gets done. I don't know if it's because of lack of communication, but everybody all in all has been good to my mom and tries to take care of her needs. Everybody has been really good. They have arts and crafts and things, and they have different religions that come in and offer services. They have a little bus, and once in a while if the residents want to, the residents can clamor aboard this bus and go on a ride through a park, and things like that. I'm paying for my mom to have a private room. They have an exercise room, and they have bookshelves in all of the sitting areas that are crammed with books, but their food is not too good. In terms of the price, I think they're all too high."

"We visited Pleasant Valley, but we didn't get to see the apartments. They gave us a pamphlet which included the type of rooms they had. They have pull cords in the room, and water and trash is included in the fee. The food is not included in the monthly fee, so you have to pay extra for that. We'll be bringing our own furniture."

"Wagoner Care is a small nursing home. The staff always have smiles on their faces and seem quit genuine. My grandmother was there and she had dementia, she couldn't remeber who anyone was. The staff was so patient with her and never forced her when she was scared or nervous. They were able to get her up and bathed and into the cafeteria with caring and patientience. They would stop by and check on her and they would approach her with a warm smile and quitely remind her where she was what was going on. I never felt like I wasn't welcome to visit and the nurses would be very knowledgeable. The would call me day or night for information on my grandmother. For instance she was talking about a friend of her's alot, and this wasn't anyone she had talked about before. The nurse called me to ask about this person so that they could have conversations with my grandmother to help with her memory. All I can say is Wagoner care was a great place for my grandmother and the care given was at the top. "

"I found that the workers of this facility treated my family member as if they were their own. The nurses aid's were very gentle and were always trying to please the patient. I never had a bad experience with the nurses aids. The nurses that were on charge was a different story. Some nurse seemed to have my family members and other patients needs as priority, but then there were some who thought that it was a waste of their time assiting the patients and would rather be setting up at the desk. I did notice that the facility followed all state and federal laws especially when it came to the patients privacy. I did notice that the facility could use some up-to-date items, such as lifts and furniture. The Director of Nursing was always at the facility during daytime hours and was always more than happy to help or answer any questions that I had. I would say this is a good facility all around, but could use some up-to-date items. "
