"I had an in-person tour of Cedar Living at Mayfield Heights. I liked the fact that they were small. They didn't have a whole lot of people there. They were able to answer all of my questions. I liked the fact that it was clean. They had a courtyard and a big indoor dining area. I think it's near a hospital, shopping, and restaurants."

"My father has moved here. They were very personable, the care workers are hands-on and attentive to my father. As a result of that, he is acclimated very well to the facility. He's getting the proper care from a medication perspective, and physical therapy perspective, and they have activities. He likes the social aspect and environment that they've created there. He enjoys the food and the facility itself, they're well-rounded. He's improved significantly since he's been in there. His room is very spacious, clean, and very nice. It has a microwave, washer and dryer, and a very spacious bathroom, it's just a nice place. We're very pleased with them. I haven't tried the food but my dad likes it. My dad plays bingo there, he goes to their movies, he's gone out to breakfast, they have a trivia night and they have a happy hour. He's well-received."

"I had a friend who was at StoryPoint Shaker Heights for a long time, and I know some people who are there right now. That is the only place that I have been that has had good reviews and that I've seen nice service done to their patients. One of my friends is in assisted living, but she had a stroke, and so they're going to move her to memory care. I was there shortly after it first opened, and it was attractive. They had fresh flowers. The dining room was neat and clean, and I saw them emptying her trash a couple of times a day. They had a nurse there. The staff was pleasant, and you didn't have to ask them 10 times to do a simple task. The whole building looked like it was being taken care of the way it should be. It was neat, clean, and attractive. I had lunch there a couple of times, and it was fine. The menu was better than when they first opened up because they've changed hands, but it's a lot better than some of the other places. They had people in from the museums. They had music. They had a list of many activities, and people took part in them. I just don't feel like the amenities and services justify the $6,000. It eliminates the number of people who can have service there. I have a friend there who's in memory care, but her husband is still alive, so he helps with that bill. My friend, who is still there and is going on to memory care, was a professor, so she has more income. You've got to have too much income to stay there. Value for money is good, but expensive."

"I went here. I was impressed with that. I liked the fact that it was very intimate. The memory care was on the third floor. I visited it twice, and I liked the fact that they were doing crafts, and that everyone was engaged. They had good music, and they displayed their work, too. Everybody seemed to be having a great time. The facility itself was very nice and very well done. All the rooms are accessible where everybody can see everybody, and that kind of thing. I like that environment. That's nice. The staff I met were very engaging and open. The residents seemed to be involved and engaged. One lady said she really enjoyed the food. It was close to the library and a shopping mall, so it's like a bustling metropolis around there, that kind of thing. For me, that's more important than having a garden. I think people like to see activities."

"I am living in The Winfield at Richmond Heights. They always have turnover. The help is good, they have a great maintenance man here, and they have a super dining room supervisor, she's wonderful. But some of the people are kinda meh, they're not bad, but they're not good either. They could use some social skills. And I'm not moving out of here because of that, I'm moving out of here for financial reasons. We have a balcony that I like to go out and smoke my cigar on, and we watch TV, and we have some activities that we participate in. There's a library, their exercise room is strictly by appointment only for physical therapy, and they could keep the elevators clean. As far as our apartment goes, we kind of customized it and had it painted. It cost me some money, but we had the kitchen, the living room, and the 1-bedroom area painted, the handicapped showers are wonderful, and there's lots of closet space. We have housekeeping once a week. The food isn't out of this world, but it's ok. We cook and eat a lot of sandwiches up here, I don't need all three meals every day. They have an activity director here named Sue, who is wonderful."

"Vitalia Highland Heights is a brand-new facility. They just opened. I was very impressed with the independent living quarters that they offered. There were two spaces available. There are two bedrooms with a nice large living area and a kitchen that has everything. I know that if I wanted to, I could cook and bake there. There's a seating area in the kitchen. You don't have to have a dining room table, but it's big enough that you could have people sit down there on both sides. You could probably get maybe 4 or 5 people sitting in this area. They have beautiful two bathrooms that are bigger than what I'm living in right now. They have a washer and dryer, which is very important to me. The price is OK. I think they want $4005 or somewhere around there, maybe close to $5000 a month. They offer a lot of bus trips and typical things. They have a pool. They have everything. They have invited me twice now to come for lunch and their food is excellent. If you have a car, they have a covered parking area and that's $75 a month. That's high, and all it does is that there's a parking area where everybody parked right next to each other. You just have a roof over the outdoors. It's not an enclosed garage."

"I really liked Windsor Heights Beachwood. It's really clean and didn't have any kind of weird odor. The lady took me to several rooms, and they were also clean. Everybody looked real happy. It's nice, open, bright and well-maintained. I liked it."

"We toured Rose Senior Living Beachwood and I fell absolutely in love with it. I loved the friendliness of the people, the size of the rooms, and I loved that they had a very modern kitchen. We looked at independent there because they had independent, assisted, and memory care. They thought that we could do well with independent living before we moved into assisted living. For the independent, they give you a certain allowance for meals and they still had housekeeping twice a month. It came with a full kitchen. It was absolutely lovely and up to date. It has an oven, refrigerators, the whole thing. They had a swimming pool. They had us for lunch because they gave you a $250 per person allowance for meals and that lunch was out of this world. I got a fresh salad, and it was delicious. They have Starbucks for breakfast and you can get any Starbucks you want. They had people come and talk to us. And the lunch we had was with residents that were there. They were so friendly. I was ready to move immediately, but my husband wasn't sure he wanted to live here. If we move, that's where we will go. They let us taste the food some of the other people were having and one person had a steak. It's a 5. The chef came out and talked to us, too."

"My husband is a resident of Heritage of Euclid's assisted living. So far, the staff is friendly, and they are doing a pretty good job. I would describe his room as being adequate. I would say the upkeep is okay, and the activities are pretty good. My husband is not very active, but I've seen them doing crafts and taking the residents out. For amenities, they have a salon, and that's about it."

"I was very impressed with Hilltop, but my father couldn't afford it. The rooms were like individual rooms, and I liked that he wouldn't be sharing. I was impressed with their programs. They had a lot of activities for the seniors to do. They took them on mall trips and to the grocery stores where they could do their shopping. They had bingo nights, and every day they had something going on. They also had extra outside excursions where they took them to movies or even to the casino, and you don't even had to pay extra for those. I also liked the fact that they had somebody come in to remind him of his meds and stuff like that. However, the price was not something that he would be able to afford. The lady who showed me around was very nice. I liked the fact that she had called me back just to follow-up and what not. Overall, I really liked the place and wanted him to be there. I am still looking for funding right now. I would recommend it to anyone who could afford to stay there. "

"I toured Alpine House of Maple Heights and talked with the administrator, Michael. He was the initial contact for bringing new patients in. He's very good at taking the time to listen and provide whatever services he can for the residents. The building is very clean. It's smaller-it's on one floor, and it's huge. Alpine has a nice-sized dining area. I met the cooks and chefs, and they have a lot of activities for the residents."
