"A close friend spent several months here at the end of her life. The care provided was exceptional. I have experience of several comparable facilities in the area, and this was by several orders of magnitude the best. Physically, it is a very nice building with a lovely terrace and spacious rooms. But even more important, the staff -- nurses, nutritionist, therapists, and aides -- were wonderful: kind, caring, and competent, and the kitchen staff turned handsprings to accommodate the friend's demanding dietary requirements. One episode encapsulates the staff’s willingness to go the extra mile. A few days before my friend's death, when she was only semi-conscious, two of the male aides heard her repeat the word “flowers.” Assuming that this was a plea for (more) flowers, they conferred and decided that one of them would run to the Star Market and buy some, presumably out of their own pockets. Overhearing the conversation, I managed to convince them that, since her room already resembled a small florist’s shop, the repetition of the word “flowers” probably had a different meaning. But their impulse to honor what they thought was her request spoke of a generosity of spirit that was as touching as it must be rare. "

"Beaumont Rehab & Skilled Nursing Ctr-Natick is very good about answering any of my husband's needs. If he pushes the button, they're there pretty quickly afterward. They seem to be very friendly. His room in the skilled nursing is two to a room. I like that everything is clean. They bathe him and keep him comfortable that way. The meals are all right. When they go into the common room, they play games and he seems to enjoy going in there and being with the other people. We also like that they accept Medicaid, because not all places do."

"My friend previously stayed at Eliot Center for Health & Rehabilitation. We weren't very impressed. She was too high of a level of care for that facility. Basic care was provided. My friend was encouraged to stay once rehab services were not needed, but they didn't do anything to stimulate her. She was sort of left to her own devices. The facility was clean, and the rooms were fine. They had drawers, a closet, and things like that. There was minimal supervision, so anybody could kind of go in and visit. The food was marginal."

"I have visited this facility many times in the past few years, because my great grandmother is a resident here. The staff are very friendly and are willing to help no matter the situation. There are many activities going on to keep everyone entertained and busy. My great- grandmother is always finding something to do on a cold winters' day. The food is really tasty and flavorful, something not expected in a nursing home. I feel she is getting the great care she needs along with all of the other residents. She shares a room with one other person and security is very tight in certain wings. Most nursing homes are not the friendliest or inviting, however this place is the complete opposite. It is tucked away on a side street with not very much traffic or noise. When I was last there they were creating an addition in the Alzheimer's unit. I look forward to going back to visit her for months to come! "

"This a place that is homey, with a staff that is kind and generally quite attentive. It is family owned, and does not have some of the fancier elements you might find in a chain. But it does have a staff who know the patients and who pay attention to them. My Father has now been there a year, and is likely to remain there for the duration of his life. They are flexible in having him come in and out when we want to bring him to a family event, they keep track of his things, such as hearing aids, which is not something he can now do, they respond to his concerns and alert us promptly if he is off-kilter or there is a problem. He is generally happy there, and views it to be his home for this phase of his life. From my perspective, it's more of a long-term care facility than one for intensive rehabilitation. My father came here after his intensive rehab concluded following an operation on a broken hip. The patients generally have some elements of memory loss and very senior geriatric troubles, but kindness combined with getting the basics done well are its core competencies. We are glad we have this place available for him, my mother, and our family during this 10th decade of his life. We have come to trust them to maintain my Father's physical safety and mental well being. "

"My dad is still at Casa de Ramana. The staff is terrific. He is getting good care. It seems to be clean. The food is bland and not particularly interesting, but I don't think that's different in any other place. I don't think it's better or not as good as any other place. It's similar to hospital food. The staff are wonderful. I would recommend it. This place is not particularly convenient geographically for us, but it was the place that was accepting COVID-positive patients. It's not a long-term care facility; it's a rehabilitation facility. In my dad's situation, he was recovering from COVID. There were only two facilities the hospital could discharge him to, and this one had a bed. Basically, that's kind of how the decision making happens in these cases."

"We placed my mother-in-law in Newton & Wellesley. They have specialized care for dementia and Alzheimer's patients, and I think that they are terrific. It is just what she needs, and she's doing well. It is not easy to move a person that has Alzheimer's, but I think she's doing well, and that's all we can hope for. They have activities, and they try to engage them. They bring them out of their rooms every day. This is a place where some people are in a wheelchair. My mother-in-law just happens to be ambulatory, so she has a walker. They try to have everybody together and do activities with them. They do what they can do with the population. They are all very positive, and it is great. They have an activity leader who is very positive and friendly. "

"My mom has spent 3 or 4 short term stays here at St. Pats. The staff was extremely caring and the facility was well maintained. The PT and OT services were very good and they were able to get mom to return home fairly quickly. We would not request this facility repeatedly if the care was any less. "

"I found Bethany Health Care Center for my friend, and she has moved in. We chose it because of the caring nature of the nursing and ancillary staff, as well as the unit that she is on. It's a locked unit, which is what she needs. They are very clean. It is a positive atmosphere because of the staff. They keep her busy with music and word search activities. They have different discussions during the day. They have exercise. There is a Namaste room, if she needs it. The food is very good."

"Oak Knoll is a wonderful place. My grandmother receives excellent care there. Today was an exception when we got there her oxygen level was extremely low . When I was leaving I asked the nurse Danielle if she could take my grandmother's oxygen level once again before I left and she said " No I will not take it with you here because you are making me anxious and you're making your grandmother anxious"....... I had to leave the nursing home to find out my grandmother's oxygen level. I am not only upset I am worried for my grandmother and the care she will receive tonight. Oak Knoll is a wonderful place, this issue I had to tonight was something that I assume never happens, overall this is a wonderful place! "

"My mother has been at the Elizabeth Seton for about a month now. She has had wonderful care since she got there. The staff have been very responsive. They've noticed medical needs pretty quickly. The place is very clean. My mother has her own private room, which is wonderful. I like that they have little pods with only eight people in each section, so you get to know the other residents that are in your pod, which is nice. And they have daily mass and activities. My mother has been able to be active in the community as well. My mom is only on pureed food right now, so her food intake is slightly different, but I will say that the food that I've seen the other residents eating looks fabulous. But she's just not able to eat it yet, hopefully she will be able to. In terms of activities, they have daily mass, and they have different reflection times. They have somebody who gives a talk and then they kind of talk about whatever it is that they talked about. They have arts and crafts stuff. They have music and bingo. It varies each day, and you get a calendar at the beginning of the month. The staff have been helpful."

"My father went here for rehab after an extended hospital stay. They were supposed to help recondition him so he could return home. They did little to nothing, despite my father being willing and eager to participate in order to return home. When I did bring him home, he could barely get out of the car or up the steps to the house. When we would visit him at the facility - which was ever day for several weeks, he seemed reticent to talk about his care, as time went on, I sensed that he was afraid to speak negatively about the staff and it seemed like certain orderlies made him nervous. The place looks nice and it was clean, but as another reviewer noted, it is very cold and impersonal - and that includes the staff. It was always as quiet as a library and I never saw anyone socializing. There were no indications that any sort of social activity was going on in the facility. My father ultimately had to return to a nursing home a few months later. We did not go back to Wingate of Sudbury. We took him to a "lower rated" facility which was far better. It wasn't as fancy. The rooms had tile instead of carpet, but the staff was warm and personable and they had activities going all day even on the Alzheimer's unit. And you could see many residents strolling the halls and talking to one another and most noticeably, they were smiling. You really have to visit these facilities for yourself and pay attention to the people - both the residents and the staff. Ask to see the common rooms - are they empty or are activities going on? Visit at different time of the day. Ask what time breakfast is served and when it typically ends - that is when some facilities line up their resident to sit in the halls along the wall in their wheelchairs where they just sit silently and stare at one another. I did not see that at Wingate, but I did at other facilities I inspected. There are many good facilities out there, but I would not recommend Wingate of Sudbury. "

"Sudbury Pines is a "Gem"! I placed both of my folks there for rehab a few times and ultimately for long term care when the time came. I was looking for a small 'family' place and not one of those corporate chain outfits. My doctor recommended Sudbury Pines. Both my folks were really complicated medically and required a lot of care. My mom was really sick and their Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner did an incredible job with her. The Physical Therapists got her up and walking, which was a miracle because I was sure that she was going to be in the wheelchair forever. When I would visit with them at Sudbury Pines, they were busy, happy and felt much safer and more comfortable than they ever did living on their own. Those incredible Nurses, Aides, Social Workers and Therapists had repeatedly gotten them home again and welcomed them back for the periodic 'tune-up' as my dad would say and took care of them in their last days with such compassion that I will be forever grateful. By writing this review, I hope to help others in the same circumstance to find their way to Sudbury Pines! "

"My sister was at the Briarwood Rehab following an extremely severe encephalitis attack. She was in a coma for a few days, and she was not lucid or coherent for about two or three months. Most of her visitors did not expect her to live and I think some of the staff didn't expect her to live. I visited her daily, and I was happily amazed at the high-level care, compassion, encouragement, and patience the staff exhibited. They exhibited these traits and were never abrupt with her, even when she was extremely sick, incoherent, and uncommunicative. She very slowly, but completely, recovered from her illness. She is presently 90 years old, and she is still living alone in her single-family house. "
