"After a 94- year run, our mother passed after a life well lived. She left behind a great legacy and loving family of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Like many in her situation, the last several years of her life included health challenges, an inevitable decline and the necessity of finding a nursing facility to attend to her needs. Living in Boston/Metro-West, there existed an array of nursing and residential choices. After an extensive process of exploration and vetting the family agreed that Belmont Manor would be the optimal choice. We have been so pleased with our selection. The second-generation family ownership, which actively manages Belmont Manor, consistently conveyed a feeling of genuine care and concern for our mother’s well-being, and that of her fellow residents. The experienced staff (including many loyal, veteran team members) were knowledgeable, and eager to update us in person or by phone. What stood out was the caring staff who supported her as her health declined and how they cared for her with such dignity and respect. Visiting with her downstairs in one of the many comfortable indoor or outdoor seating areas always felt warm and comforting. Indeed, our visits always brought offerings of heat lamps, warm blankets, and bottled water! When our mother’s health declined and visits became more frequently upstairs in or near her room, we were always greeted with a smile and update at the nurse’ station. Often, our mother would be seated near the nurses’ station at a key corridor intersection. Greeting and interacting with other residents and passers-by kept her going and provided her with an incredible sense of purpose! Many of our visits ran into mealtime and to see the carefully prepared meals, hot table servings, and accompanying entertainment, crafts, and socialization offered in the community activity/dining room reassured us that Mom’s every need was met. As our mother’s dietary and care needs became more pronounced, the team smoothly transitioned to the next stage. Belmont Manor’s integration with hospice in her final months enabled additional support not only for Mom, but for our family, as well. We will always be so grateful for the outstanding care, comfort, attention, and respect that Belmont Manor offered Mom throughout her years-long stay. Belmont Manor ownership/management and their amazing staff provided Mom with such a wonderful home and her family with the ongoing reassurance that she was so well cared for and loved. A Very Appreciative Family"

"The staff is wonderful. They are very attentive and involved with the residents. There is an entertainer every afternoon. The owner is often walking around the place with his dog. He is very approachable and visible. The nursing staff is caring and gentle. I don’t worry about my family member because I know he is safe and well cared for at The Oasis."

"Beaumont in Natick is outstanding. My grandparents were in a sister facility in Westborough and they both got wonderful care. So, when my mother got ill, the first place I called was Beaumont in Westborough, but it's too far away from me, so they connected me with Natick. The care is outstanding. They have staff members that have been there for many years. They have very little turnover. It's a very difficult situation to see my mother in the condition she's in, but when I leave there, I leave with peace of mind that my mother is being well cared for. Their facility is not a huge nursing home, but the rooms are spacious and painted in warm colors. They have to have the hospital bed, but other than that, you can bring your own furnishings in to the room and try to set it up to make it home-like for them. It doesn't have an odor that a lot of nursing homes have, and it's always clean. In the time that she's been there, I have never had a complaint. The pricing is excellent. I was given a tour by a nurse, and I told her that my grandparents had been in one of the Salmon facilities. She took care of my grandparents and now takes care of my mother."

"My friend previously stayed at Eliot Center for Health & Rehabilitation. We weren't very impressed. She was too high of a level of care for that facility. Basic care was provided. My friend was encouraged to stay once rehab services were not needed, but they didn't do anything to stimulate her. She was sort of left to her own devices. The facility was clean, and the rooms were fine. They had drawers, a closet, and things like that. There was minimal supervision, so anybody could kind of go in and visit. The food was marginal."

"My father is now at Mary Ann Morse Nursing Home. The care is fantastic. The staff is very good. It is a sought-after place within the area. I've never been inside his room because of COVID, but we did get to meet with him outside. They have a patio on the second floor, and they have a courtyard in the middle. We meet outfront where it is all shaded. They also have a back deck. From my understanding, their meals are very good, and my father hasn't had any complaints. The staff seems great. It is a nice place. It seems that he's so fortunate that he is in there. If he is going to be in a nursing home, that's the place for him to be."

"My father is a resident of this facility and has received excellent care since he arrived 4 months ago. The staff and nurses are friendly, knowledgeable and take the time to talk to me or call whenever needed. The facility is clean and very home-like. It is a small facility which appeals to ne. The food looks excellent. I am very pleased with this nursing home. "

"My dad is still at Casa de Ramana. The staff is terrific. He is getting good care. It seems to be clean. The food is bland and not particularly interesting, but I don't think that's different in any other place. I don't think it's better or not as good as any other place. It's similar to hospital food. The staff are wonderful. I would recommend it. This place is not particularly convenient geographically for us, but it was the place that was accepting COVID-positive patients. It's not a long-term care facility; it's a rehabilitation facility. In my dad's situation, he was recovering from COVID. There were only two facilities the hospital could discharge him to, and this one had a bed. Basically, that's kind of how the decision making happens in these cases."

"We placed my mother-in-law in Newton & Wellesley. They have specialized care for dementia and Alzheimer's patients, and I think that they are terrific. It is just what she needs, and she's doing well. It is not easy to move a person that has Alzheimer's, but I think she's doing well, and that's all we can hope for. They have activities, and they try to engage them. They bring them out of their rooms every day. This is a place where some people are in a wheelchair. My mother-in-law just happens to be ambulatory, so she has a walker. They try to have everybody together and do activities with them. They do what they can do with the population. They are all very positive, and it is great. They have an activity leader who is very positive and friendly. "

"Our Mom lived at St. Patrick’s for a little over 4 years until she recently passed away. My siblings and I couldn’t find a better place for our Mom to have wonderful medical care, caring aides, social workers and nurses and other terrific support staff. Our Mom enjoyed the camaraderie of wonderful fellow residents. She was a very social person and St. Patrick’s helped to foster relationships between our Mom and other residents and staff. Especially during the COVID pandemic, our Mom stayed healthy and it’s all because of the hardworking and knowledgeable staff there. Mom’s final years were happy years because of the kindness and support of the wonderful staff and residents of St. Patrick’s. We will be eternally grateful to them all. "

"I found Bethany Health Care Center for my friend, and she has moved in. We chose it because of the caring nature of the nursing and ancillary staff, as well as the unit that she is on. It's a locked unit, which is what she needs. They are very clean. It is a positive atmosphere because of the staff. They keep her busy with music and word search activities. They have different discussions during the day. They have exercise. There is a Namaste room, if she needs it. The food is very good."

"My stepmom was at Oak Knoll Healthcare Center for rehab. It was kind of a little dated, but it's nice. The staff is nice. It's clean. She actually was friendly with the staff, and they were all sad to see her go. They would joke around with her and everything, so she really appreciated that. She liked the food. She said it was really good. Her room was nice. It's almost like a hospital where you have a roommate sometimes, but for the bulk of it she didn't have a roommate, which is actually good. Her side of the room was nice because it had a pretty window. Overall, she was pretty comfortable there. Their place was good for rehab."

"My mother has been at the Elizabeth Seton for about a month now. She has had wonderful care since she got there. The staff have been very responsive. They've noticed medical needs pretty quickly. The place is very clean. My mother has her own private room, which is wonderful. I like that they have little pods with only eight people in each section, so you get to know the other residents that are in your pod, which is nice. And they have daily mass and activities. My mother has been able to be active in the community as well. My mom is only on pureed food right now, so her food intake is slightly different, but I will say that the food that I've seen the other residents eating looks fabulous. But she's just not able to eat it yet, hopefully she will be able to. In terms of activities, they have daily mass, and they have different reflection times. They have somebody who gives a talk and then they kind of talk about whatever it is that they talked about. They have arts and crafts stuff. They have music and bingo. It varies each day, and you get a calendar at the beginning of the month. The staff have been helpful."

"My father went here for rehab after an extended hospital stay. They were supposed to help recondition him so he could return home. They did little to nothing, despite my father being willing and eager to participate in order to return home. When I did bring him home, he could barely get out of the car or up the steps to the house. When we would visit him at the facility - which was ever day for several weeks, he seemed reticent to talk about his care, as time went on, I sensed that he was afraid to speak negatively about the staff and it seemed like certain orderlies made him nervous. The place looks nice and it was clean, but as another reviewer noted, it is very cold and impersonal - and that includes the staff. It was always as quiet as a library and I never saw anyone socializing. There were no indications that any sort of social activity was going on in the facility. My father ultimately had to return to a nursing home a few months later. We did not go back to Wingate of Sudbury. We took him to a "lower rated" facility which was far better. It wasn't as fancy. The rooms had tile instead of carpet, but the staff was warm and personable and they had activities going all day even on the Alzheimer's unit. And you could see many residents strolling the halls and talking to one another and most noticeably, they were smiling. You really have to visit these facilities for yourself and pay attention to the people - both the residents and the staff. Ask to see the common rooms - are they empty or are activities going on? Visit at different time of the day. Ask what time breakfast is served and when it typically ends - that is when some facilities line up their resident to sit in the halls along the wall in their wheelchairs where they just sit silently and stare at one another. I did not see that at Wingate, but I did at other facilities I inspected. There are many good facilities out there, but I would not recommend Wingate of Sudbury. "

"Following a total knee replacement, I spent 16 nights in rehab/recovery at Sudbury Pines. I was in considerable pain from the surgery. The nurses, CNAs and the rest of the staff did everything possible to keep me comfortable. They were always there with ice packs, medications, or whatever was needed to help. The physical therapy staff were encouraging and helpful in my rehab and the nursing staff arranged my medication schedule to accommodate my rehab schedule. At best, I am a picky eater but if I did not like the meals provided, they got me something else. All I had to do was ask. I wasn’t there long enough to take advantage of their social programs, but for longer term patients they have lots of activities. If I ever need care again, this is the place that I will go and I recommend it to my family and friends."

"My mother rehabbed at Briarwood recently after a total knee replacement. The staff were warm and welcoming, her first day there, she was up walking for 15 minutes on the Alter G treadmill. It was amazing! She was discharged home to her second floor condo within 7 days. During her stay my father was able to join her for meals at no extra charge. This was her first time at Briarwood and would definitely rehab here again and recommend this facility to others. "
