Nursing Home Communities in Fairhaven, MA

"My husband has Alzheimer's and Parkinson's and none of the homes was able to take him because he was too violent. Fortunately, the hospital helped me find a home and that's Brandon Woods of New Bedford. It's a very good place. He is in a room with three other men and that's fine. The staff are very nice and very good to him. They take good care of him. They serve good food and he eats three meals a day. He's on pureed anyway. My husband seems calmer and quiet now and he even laughs and smiles. He is doing well already. "

"Royal Taber Street Nursing and Rehabilitation Center was a very small facility. Their staff was very caring and very helpful. They were also very nice to the family members. It had a nice environment. It was well kept. "

"New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home, Inc is a smaller nursing home. The rooms were smaller, and it's strictly a nursing home. They were very nice. The people there were very nice, and the woman there (who is the director) answered all our questions. I know some other people who have had family members that have been there. I have a friend now that has a family member there, and they are very pleased with it, the service, the compassion, and caring that the staff gives their family members. They have a dining room. They are not using it because of Covid. The residents all eat in their bedrooms. They had a group of residents. I'm not sure what they were doing there in a room, where they're just having a conversation or whatever. They have a cafeteria, and they mentioned, of course, all their food is kosher. Definitely their diet is different from other places. They didn't have bathrooms in the rooms, it was centrally located. I would really hate to give it a score because it's a different kind of environment. It's an older facility and homes were smaller, that's for sure. They didn't have bathrooms in the rooms. The bathrooms were more centrally located, but they say it was clean. I will definitely say it was very clean. Nursing homes tend to sometimes have an odor, but I do not find that at all. The people were very nice. I didn't really go into the bedrooms. We just peeped in because we didn't want to invade anyone's privacy.The room was smaller, but it is an older facility and that accounts for a lot of that. The staff was wonderful, and she answered our questions."

"This is the worst place ever. I had my loved one there for two days until I could get them out of there. Nurses and aids if they could be called that were non existent. Forget the staff and to get the records were a nightmare. Everyone in adminstrative positions are to just gossiping about their extra curricular activists with whom ever and not concerned with patients or family. They should probably either clean house of all employees or shut place down. When people are ill and frail they should be respected not treated like animals and let for dead. Please do not send or recommend this horrible place. There are much better places."

" Well I lost the first one that I wrote so I hope I can really do it In a nut shell. There were a few good nurses ( and I will send them to the correct place) and all of the medical staff CMA‘s are absolutely wonderful. I don’t want to mention that admissions director of social services Lisa I do not have her last name. Has a lot to learn about advocating. I was told by my insurance company Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO New Jersey, and Medicare, that I have 101 days of rehab here. This is December 5. I came in on Tuesday night. No rehab at all as I came in late. I had very good care from OT her name is Celina. The rest of the team has a lot to Learn to learn about taking care of someone at 60 years old instead of 85-90 years old I did voice this concern when I first got here. But I was assured that age didn’t matter. When the state came in the nursing staff all shaped up and told the Cma to walk a straight line. When they already have. They are sending home to Pt, ot, nursing staff this is not my first rodeo I’ve had them two times already. They’re understaffed and overworked so they cannot spend much time with you. Maybe two days turn into one day not much help. So being here I had a lot of false hope I’ve been waiting over an hour and a half a for furicet, Morton and zofran ( but I would take any thinks I’m not dry heaving anymore ). So I guess I read it to stars and meant to braid it one but I can’t change it If you were smart you would not come here to Brandon Woods South Dartmouth. Or come here and be miserable "

"I visited this facility with my aunt who was working there at the time, and I was very impressed. Everything was running smoothly along with having extra amenities for the residents. There was a nice facility to do exercise along with other forms of physical therapy. The whole building was spacey however it still gave off a homey feel. The residents seemed very pleased with their condition of living and were in good spirits. The staff was very friendly and seemed to have a good connection with each of the residents. Overall it is a very good facility. "

"My mom had stayed at Care One at New Bedford. It was very good. The people are very nice. The facilities were in good shape. So overall, I would recommend it. We had a very good experience, especially with the people. The rooms were a little bit updated but they were in good condition. There was an area for physical therapy. There were outside facilities where you could go around outside. There were different kinds of crafts and very dear to my mom was that they had the rosary at a certain time."

"I visited The Oaks, and I actually liked it, but there was no swimming pool. They do have the workout room, of course, for therapy. They have a hairdresser that comes in, they have an activity room, and they have an ice-cream and popcorn shop where you can get free ice-cream and popcorn. Nice grounds and very accommodating staff. "

"My grandmother has been at Sippican for a few months. She used to have visiting nurses come to her home, but as of late her health has been failing and she's been slipping/falling more often now. She's at Sippican mainly because she has trouble walking and her legs swell up. I've found the staff very warm and welcoming whenever I call and visit. Even though I always forget the name of the ward my grandmother's in, they're happy to look it up and direct my call. My grandmother's also hard of hearing, so often times when she can't hear the phone ring, they'll be sure to pick it up for her and let her know that her granddaughter's calling. Another thing I've found very helpful is that they're understanding that she's familiar with certain nurses and would prefer to have her care given to her by them, and them only. She gets uneasy with newer nurses around. Sippican is happy to accomodate for her, and that makes me feel better about what goes on at the facility when I'm not around to actually witness it. "

"If you want your loved ones to feel safe and secure, the staff of Island Terrace are professional and so loving they treated my mom as a family member! Family owned facility, owners live on the property!!! Love and KINDNESS is HERE!!! I Highly Recommend this FIVE star NURSING HOME!!! "

"I liked the location of Kindred Transitional Care and the caring, friendly staff. The patients and the staff seemed to engage with one another, but they don’t have enough staff members. They keep the family informed. My stepfather is comfortable. "

"My wife was at Nemasket for about a year before she died. They took very good care of her. The staff members were the best that you could get and all especially selected. They're great workers. Sanitation was second to none. The care was great. My wife was in four different nursing homes. Nemasket was the best one. The rooms were spotless. They're all dedicated. For a nursing home, the food was good. They did as good as they could with what they had. The activities were great, and every day they had something different."

"My Mom has been at Kimwell for over 3 years and the care has been outstanding. Quality care givers work there. People who realize that their work is a calling not a job. My wife and I looked and toured many places before deciding on Kimwell. We never looked at the fancy chandeliers at many places but took the time to talk to many of the staff. Without a doubt, Kimwell came in first and we are extremely happy and secure in our choice. "

"This is the first retirement community i have ever delt with. My father started falling alot and hurting himself not intentional but it was happening all to often. I spoke with kelly on the phone and she was extremely nice and caring. so we went for a tour of the facility. The facility was nice and clean but the lighting was a little dim for my liking i guess its to not bother the seniors eyes so much and it was slightly warmer than usual in there when i asked about ti they said 90 percent of there residents are constantly cold. I think this was awesome on there part the nurses work in a heated environment even in the summer. They always smiled and after talking to a few other residents we decided this would be his new home. I wouldnt just send my father anywhere and he has truly loved it. Plus he is smiling more now and seems more outgoing i couldnt recommend them any higher. "
