"My experience at Hale Ho Aloha was very nice. The rooms were very nice, and the staff was very good. Because of the level of care that they offer, they don't have too many amenities. The security was OK, and the value for the money was good. It had a great view. Mom said they took very good care of her. I liked the fact they gave her the attention she needed. "

"Two years ago, I was a patient there for 3 weeks after a bad fall. The care was very good. The nurses and nurse's assistance worked very hard to take care of the patients and the physical and occupational therapy was very helpful. In addition to the PT and OT, they have activities for the patients every day. There are areas where the patients can get outside. I was happy with the care I received at Hale Nani."

"I toured Arcadia Retirement Residence. It was a beautiful place, however, it wasn't necessarily a good fit for my grandmother. The staff treated me perfectly fine. They gave me enough freedom to move around in the general areas. They gave me some space. They have a really good focus. Sometimes they do lose their focus about anyone else around them, but I understand they need to go ahead and focus on their patients. The facility is sterile. It's clean. I did not see any safety issues."

"My mom is staying at Aloha Nursing & Rehab Center as a long-term patient. It's a very good place and the staff is very attentive. She had rehab for a while, and the rehab ended this week. They have a lot of volunteer people singing, playing games and a lot of stuff. She got a shared room with someone else, it's air-conditioned, has a TV and they have very good meals. It's not cheap, that's for sure. The staff members are very nice, they really followed everything up and when you need something they'd get it for you immediately. It's definitely expensive but you're getting everything you paid for."

"Maunalani Nursing is an exceptional nursing home! Moving our Dad from another nursing home to Maunalani was the best thing we could have done. Our Dad was extremely happy and content there. A shout-out goes to Chona, who went above and beyond to help us with that transition. She was so amazing, caring, and kind! She understood how difficult it was for us being off-island and helped us with all the arrangements. Another goes out to Robin and the nursing staff who were incredibly dedicated, compassionate, and efficient! They helped us through every step of the way with not only understanding the stages of our Dad's condition, but also personally and psychologically gently getting us to a point of acceptance, the importance of telling our Dad it was okay, and saying our final goodbyes. There really is no other nursing home that can hold a candle to Maunalani...simply the best!! We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for the exceptional care and compassion you provided our Dad. "This nursing facility has been in the community for over 50 years and was an "old" school typical nursing facility. Back in the 80's my great grandmother was there as a resident after she fell and broke her hip. She never did walk again which is why we had to send her there. She'd be zoned out sitting out in their main activity area which is used as a multipurpose area in a gerichair. Fast forward to the 2000's and it is pretty much the same place. Now there is an adult day health program as well as a nursing home activity program. Very old school with mainly large group activities due to the set up of the place. The building hasn't changed much at all and looks the same as it did over 20 years ago. Being that there is dementia care, the place is really noisy with music and TV and large group activities going on at the same time. Pretty disturbing to me and I can't imagine how a demented person must feel with all of that. The floors are pretty dingy looking and the general environment is not very therapeutic looking at all. The staff are pretty nice and caring for the most part. The residents look generally clean and well cared for. It does get pretty smelly there sometimes at the after mealtimes. My other grandma went there after falling and not being able to walk again. She had dementia and loved the fact that she didn't have to walk and wasn't alone. Her caregivers were great as they had been there for nearly 20 years. As management made changes, those old timers left and the care changed. I have seen a lot of turnover there which is not a good sign of consistent care. If you can look past the environment, it is pretty decent and okay. Definitely not a place that looks therapeutic though. "

"This care center is a nice quaint facility that many people are not familiar with on the Pohai Nani campus. It is spacious and clean and has a beautiful and therapeutic interior. The caregivers have worked at this facility for many years and are staffed consistently to a certain unit which really adds to the care of each resident. The rooms are very spacious and there is now multiple person rooms (those greater than 3) in this facility which is nice and each room has its own bathroom and some its own showers. The activity are is nice and set up like a home kitchen and the large dining room is super spacious with an open air ceiling which is beautiful to eat in. The laundry and housekeeping staff are excellent too and really are on the ball when it comes to getting the right clothes to the right person even if it doesn't have a name on it. This place is truly a hidden gem in Kaneohe and the windward side. "

"My mom broke her hip and she was in Pearl City Nursing Home for a couple months. Their facilities were good but she didn't like the food. The rooms are good for 4 people, there are two people on each side of the room separated by a curtain. The staff members were all good ones, I don't think there's one that isn't. They're all nice and compassionate, and my mom had no complaints."

"Lunalilo Homes is in a nice residential area. The home itself is very welcoming, open, very airy and very clean. The staff is awesome, everyone is very helpful. Everybody there gives me the feeling that my husband is being well taken-care of. I sat with him when he ate, the food looked good and he ate well. They also increased what they give him because he's a good eater. Twice a day, they go for walks on the property although right now it's limited to just a few of them because of the virus. They have a gardening area where they can also participate, they have bingo, they have physical activities though usually when I go during lunchtime they don't have too many activities during lunch. They usually do activities in the morning and afternoon."
