Haywood Lodge and Retirement Center

I went to Haywood Lodge and Retirement Center for my mother. They're very friendly. All the residents and guests looked well cared for, and it was rather homey. They have normal recreational activities and care for the residents like hair salons and weekly activities. The staff was great, very informative, and very patient with their time. They pointed out that they were partially through with renovations. So there was a very nice newly renovated portion and some that had yet to be renovated.

We visited Haywood Lodge and were very impressed with the facility. It was very clean and had a warm and homey atmosphere. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. The residents were welcoming, as well. Before visiting, we talked to several people who had had relatives living there in past years. They all reported very positive experiences with Haywood Lodge. It will definitely be at the top of our list when we are ready for Asssited Living.

The facility was beautiful, but the rooms were kind of small. The assisted living part of Haywood Lodge seems small to me. It is up front, and they had residents sitting around. Nobody interacted with anybody else. They were all sitting there just kind of catatonic. When I saw that, I thought run, run as fast as you can in the other direction because I did not want my father in a place like that. The staff was friendly and very nice, but I just was bothered by the feeling. None of the residents spoke to him. They just need to create a warmer atmosphere.
