My mother has been in Mars Hill Retirement Community for a week now. It has been wonderful. It's a small assisted living community affiliated with a university. I know my mother will be taken care of physically, emotionally, and intellectually. There has been very little turnover in staff. The staff is committed to what they're doing there. The prices are incredibly reasonable for what they provide. My mother has a 1-bedroom apartment with a kitchenette. They also offer studio and 2-bedroom apartments. They have all types of activities from mind games to bingo. They have a library and beauty salon services. Because they're connected with Mars Hill University, they have access to the whole library holdings. Residents can check out books from their library. They also live stream guest speakers and musical guests at the university to the residents. Worship services are available there onsite on Sundays. I saw them playing bingo in the hallway and all the residents were wearing masks. It was actually situated where a staff member is calling the numbers outside the room of a resident who is bedridden, so that she could also play. My mother was quarantined at first and they brought in puzzles, books, and things for her to do in her room. My mother is happy with the food because she has a choice for every meal. It's less expensive than other places we looked at. They offer respite care, too. If somebody is taking care of a loved one at home and they need respite, meaning for them to go somewhere for a week or two, they also offer that service. They have furnished ready-to-go units. We moved my mother into one at first because we cannot let her stay where she had been living as it was no longer safe, and she was suffering from malnutrition and dehydration there.

Mars Hill Manor Assisted Living was beautiful. This is the one that I would have wanted my grandfather to be in. They have apartment-style rooms in this place, but they could not give him the level of care that he needed. The staff was amazing. They had a beautiful dining area. They had several common areas, a game room, and a rec room. They also would transport their residents to the nearby college, and they could use the gym there, the pool, and a lot of the other college amenities. They had a library. They brought a lot of people in and were able to transport everyone to different things. They went to a football game and a baseball game. They once a week grocery shop with them. I think it was really good.

I want to know that the employees' are going to treat each and every family member with respect. I have found that to be true at Mars Hill Retirement Community. The staff is friendly and caring, respectful of the residents. They are always ready to help the family members. The Managerial staff is available and ready to assist, and answer any questions you may have. The food is excellent! The Activity Director always has a calendar full of fun! Mars Hill Retirement Community also caters to the surrounding community. Hosting Mars Hill University, The Lions Club, The Gideon's. It is just a community friendly environment.

My mother is in Mars Hill Retirement Community. Everybody is really nice and friendly, and it's close to where I live. The facility is clean and nice. Everybody seems to know what they are doing and that they have a job to do. They are caring people. Everything has come together pretty well. It's rather expensive to be there on a monthly basis; you have to pay for anything extra, down to the toilet paper.

Absolutely wonderful staff. I think my mom has settled in very quickly at Mars Hill Retirement Community. She was comfortable there, and I’ve got nothing to complain about. I’m out there almost every day, and they’re just very sweet people. They’re very attentive to her more than just a medical level; they are personally involved with her, and she's responding and doing very well. They have three meals a day, and housekeeping and nursing care as needed. They do have a staff that can help her medications as needed. They also have transportation to appointments, outings, a recreation in-house, and a Recreation Director. It’s a nice place. It’s not a huge place, but I think that was maybe a plus for my mother; it’s not overwhelming at all.
