Our sister Padma S. was admitted to Parker Jewish institute after having a stroke about more than a year ago. She is getting efficient, professional and genuine care from the entire staff. This place is a home away from home for her. We would like to thank the entire staff for doing an excellent job with our sister. From the nursing staff, aides to the front lobby staff they are all always fulfilling our sister’s request and making her stay a comfortable one. Special appreciation for Parker Jewish administration: While we are pleased with the care she has received, last week, Parker Jewish administration arranged a remarkable drive-by visit by families to meet their loved-ones finally under the difficult Covid situation. The best part was that we saw our sister in the wheelchair with her favorite Kathleen K., Director- Therapeutic Recreation. We felt very good seeing our sister after more than 3-months. This was a kind gesture on the part of Parker Jewish admin and we greatly appreciate it. In the process of her rehab and medical care, we need special mention of one very caring person that is Ms. Sujata S., Public Affairs Associate, representative - Parker’s Indian Cultural Unit on the 4th floor. As a family, we found Sujata a high-quality professional, providing her services to our sister and the other Indian residents on the floor. Her caring nature and genuine desire to help patients and family members was outstanding and therefore she earned our trust in a short amount of time. Through these difficult times, she has communicated very well with our family of 3-brothers and their spouses. Along with Padma, she treated us also with empathy, understanding and respect. We wish to thank her for all her help to us and we are sure she is making a difference in patient care at Parker Jewish Institute. The staff are trained in customer services and NOT in actual caring for their patients! My mother was admitted on a Wednesday and the following Monday, she was gone. My mother was never assessed by a doctor and yet the "doctor's" name is on the DC. Everyone smiles and no one cares! My mother was with family everyday that she was admitted there and still passed by herself and I found my mother!!!!!!!

No rating . The only thing I may say is the attendants that cared for my loved one were wonderful. The physician and nurses neglected my mother. Never told me she had Covid , dehydrated and many other complications. Three weeks later she was in a coma . This was suppose to be a short stay and then come home . I told the physician please bring her to the hospital. Nothing was done. A few days later they shipped her out in a hospital: I watched my mother take her last breath three days later in a coma . I will never forgive myself for bringing her to this faculty. Please do not send me a feedback/ reply . I know what happened. And I will never forget this…

My loved one stayed at Parker Jewish for about 3 weeks after an infection affected his ability to walk. It was a nightmarish experience, and I would definitely not recommend this facility to anyone! I don’t know how Medicare could have given it a “CMS Star Rating” of 5 stars (supposedly “based on quality and satisfaction measures as of 1/3/22”). First and foremost, the facility was significantly understaffed. Patients have to wait for hours sometimes for basic needs such as being helped to the bathroom. There is only one general doctor for the entire building so, needless to say, he is mostly unavailable. Perhaps due to the staff shortage, most of the aides and nurses are resentful and unhappy with their jobs. The food is one of the worse ever experienced in any hospital or rehab facility. The only saving grace for Parker Jewish is that their physical therapy staff is much more cordial. However, the rehab crew is constantly being rotated so a patient is not able to request for any one particular therapist. Do not use this one star facility!

The only good thing about this facility was the proximity of our home to the facility. The Social Worker assigned to my father was unresponsive even after her direct managers were contacted- when and if we could actually get a manager on the phone to reach after multiple days of calling One Nurse Manager Althea was the only helpful person and seemed as frustrated with her colleagues as we were and should consider leaving this facility- she deserves better. On day one the lazy and unresponsive night nurses and aides decided to make their lives easier by smacking a diaper on my father - a man who does not have an incontinence issue just so they wouldn’t have to assist my father to the bathroom when he used the call button- mind you he was in rehab for knee replacement which is why he was unable to get up by himself. We requested a menu to be able to order food for my dad and after asking multiple employees - received nothing until day four- my mother was running back and forth with 3 meals a day to ensure my father was eating because the food when received was inedible. No one answers their phone - all phones are sent directly to voicemail and no one returns phone calls - until the 6th day in the facility after I threw a fit to the VP of patient services’ Secretary and demanded she get in touch with our Social worker. All we wanted was to get his discharge summary completed and signed off on by the dr. This took 5 days!!!! I also have to mention the fact that the so called Family Call Center representative Justin communicated the wrong information to my mother about the visiting hours- he told my mother it was once every 2 weeks! Which yes during the pandemic this was the case BUT the State of Emergency had already been lifted and he was not educated on the new information and when my mom started questioning his information told my mom - if she didn’t like “write a letter to Governor Cuomo” - nice thing to say to a 75 year old woman who’s husband of 55 years was in this facilities care - this was also done on day one by the way. - what a PUNK! The rooms were dingy and dirty garbage and urinals say there unless the family members brought it out of the room to empty themselves! Placing healthy in the same room of someone who should be in hospice - is the most ignorant thing to do.. my fathers overall demeanor declined into a deep depression in a very short amount of time. I can go on and on with bad feedback about this facility but I’m only allowed a certain number of characters. NEVER PUT ANYONE YOU LOVE IN THIS FACILITY EVER!

My wife is staying at Parker Jewish Institute For Health Care & Rehabilitation and they're good to her. The staff is also very good and she has a shared room there. Aside from a shared room, they also have private room options. They provide OT, PT, and speech therapies. They had quite a few activities for the residents, they had a gym where they did PT and OT. They also had a cafeteria, gift shop, a family room, and a list of recreational activities. So every day they have different types of recreational activities. The place itself is nice. Medicare would be paying for 80% of the cost.

Parker Jewish Center is understaffed and most of the time clients are left to care for themselves. Horrible and horrendous place. Room smells like urine. Food tray with left over food in common are and not being disposed Paper and garbage on the floor. You don’t want to leave not even an abandoned dog there. I will be contacting the STATE.

My mother received home care from Parker Home Care. She had a wonderful experience. Everyone was polite, on time, took the time to undersea her issues and took care of her. She worked with a visiting nurse, physical therapist and an aide. She was very nervous about having an aide in the house, but the aide was responsible, mature, hard working and polite. She took her job seriously. If either of my parents need Home Care again in the future we will certainly contact Parker.

My mother is currently getting physical and occupational therapy at Parker Jewish Institute. With the love, care and encouragement of the health care team, she is getting stronger each day. The facility is clean and comfortable, the lobby is beautiful, the outdoor park is unique and delicate. My mother is very happy while getting treatment at Parker. She feels attached to the staff there. We are very grateful for the professional treatment and care provided at Parker

My father was a patient at Parker Jewish Institute for short term rehabilitation. He went there for physical and occupational therapy. I was very unhappy with this place. They are very under staffed and did not provide proper care to the patients. The floor my father was on most of the nurses and aides seemed to be very laxed and inconsiderate with the exception of a few. He developed a stage 3 bed sore. In particular an Indian doctor and a female Asian nurse were rude and acted in a disturbed manor when asked for help. While under his care my father ended up with one collapsed lung and after I pleaded to exam him. Eventually my dad was rushed to the hospital to intensive care where he passed away. I wish I would have gotten my father out of there sooner. Do not put your loved one here especially if he or she needs extra medical attention. They won't come home.

Parker Jewish Institute is very short-staffed, and it's a situation where they all mean well, but they're not talking to each other. My father has Alzheimer's. and he's there for rehab. They have an Alzheimer's floor. When my dad left home, he was able to brush his teeth, dress himself, and feed himself, and now he can't do anything. They're not doing any type of rehab for him but feeding him, so I'm not really happy. They changed his medication without me knowing, and as far as his dressing, he has infection in his toe, and it might have to be amputated. They went and changed that, but I didn't know anything about that, so it's a problem. I am not really happy with them right now. It proved to me that looks could be deceiving. They tell you what you want to hear, but they don’t do anything. The other day I needed help with my father, and I was ringing the bell for half an hour before someone even came out to help me. I talked to the manager, and they are going to do training for the nurses and the certified nursing assistants so they'll know how to deal with Alzheimer's and dementia patients. They need to have people who understand them. He had a fall, but I didn’t get a phone call. He's an elderly person, and he should have been X-rayed, but he was not. He took out his PICC out of his arm, and he was not X-rayed for that, so it was just a lot of negligence going on. Bottom line is they need to be trained better, and they need more staffing. They're very nice people, but as far as what the patients need, they're not getting it.

My mother is at Parker Jewish Institute, and everything is very good. It's very clean, and they attend to everything but they're just understaffed. They seem to be the most honest, and they were the ones who said they can't make promises. Everybody from the parking attendant up is so friendly and helpful, and anytime I make a phone call, I can get in touch with somebody. There was no lapse in any kind of care even when they'll be in a transition and kept me in the loop. They kept you informed every step of the way so you never feel like you are left out. There are a lot of activities each day like music, games, and coloring, and somebody comes up and does the women's nails. There's something every day going on. It was very hard for my mother to go to these things in the beginning, but they didn't push her until she got used to their ways of getting her to do it. They knew how to handle them.

I am the relative of a person who needed short-term physical therapy. The social worker at Parker was rude on the phone and focused on irrelevant mis-information to determine that they could not care for the patient. After speaking with the social worker, I agree that they can't care for the patient. There is no way I would leave her with them. If this is any indication of the care the patients get there, I would stay as far away as possible from Parker.

My mother was at Parker. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the staff of the 7th floor South for their kindness, compassion, and excellent care over the past few months. I would recommend Parker to anyone who needs the assistance and care that the staff provide. The staff at Parker are truly exceptional!

My mom was a resident at Parker for several years. She was confronted with many health issues and the staff took great care of my mom from the aides, nurse managers, doctors to social workers. The hospice staff was especially kind and understanding keeping us informed as necessary. There is nothing better for a family to know that they can go home knowing their loved ones are cared for.

My Mother was in Parker and because the place is under staffed she was not cared for properly. The Doctor did not have her file, did not examine her, he would smile and say you look fine dear. She was not fine. She died from C-dif. You can't give 0 stars.

This is NOT a good place for fragile elderly people. Mom had several medical issues ( iliostomy and feeding tube) . She was considered too much work even though this place says it is rated highly. The nursing staff is overworked and truly do not show any compassion for these people. I saw food shoved down patients throats. I saw my mother's iliostomy bag allowed to explode and cover her with feces. I saw people slip out of their wheelchairs. If your elderly person can speak up they will be sitting at a table all day screaming and yelling and calling for help. God help the poor people in this place. My mom had to be rushed back to the hospital several times based on their lack of care. Please love your elderly and do not send them to this dangerous place.

I am trying to figure out a way to get my relative out of here, but he is too sick to go home. It is the worst health care facility I have ever seen and I have been to plenty as a patient and caregiver. The staff is completely unresponsive to both patients and family members. I am not even confident my father has been given the meds he needs to survive, and I have been waiting over an hour to speak to a nurse. He was left to wallow in his own crap for almost 30 minutes last night, and today was left on e toilet for 20 minutes without assistance. Patients who don't have visitors are left sitting at a table all day long with no care, no cleaning, no interaction. This no way to treat elderly and Ill patients. I have had two conversations with the hospital administrator already, to no avail. Patients are screaming and begging for help and no one responds. This place should be investigated by the Department of Health for neglect and abuse.

There are overworked nurses and nurse's aides who bend over backwards and are the picture of patience but the vast majority could care less....especially the overnight staff! The overnight staff leave residents in soiled diapers for the morning staff to deal with, they don't check on the patients who cannot ring call buttons and if they can they are largely ignored for literally hours! You can be there from morning to night and complain, offer to do the bulk of the caring and they will resent you. If you complain your will fall on deaf ears! My mother was left in her own filth on several occasions even while I was there; they hid the diapers when they saw I kept changing my mother when they took more than 20 minutes to attend to her. Patients don't need infections or to lose any more dignity than they already are. My mother lasted just under 2 weeks!

They mistreated my mother when she was a patient. When I complained 2 things happened. 1) they promised an investigation and never followed up. 2) My mother caught a C-Dificile virus and was dead in a week. If I had money for a lawyer I would sue them.

I'd give this place no stars if I could. It's absolutely horrible. The care is non-existent. They let you lay there to rot and only come when absolutely necessary like to bring you the food. It's always 100 degrees so make sure you go in shorts and a tee shirt. You can't talk to anyone and get an answer. Everyone knows nothing. Doctors don't care as long as they keep getting paid. Two hours of rehab crammed into one hour since they have the PT's and OT's work on you at the same time. Then you lay in bed 23 hours a day. What kind of Rehab place is this? You leave worse off from when you enter it. STAY AWAY. I can go on and on.

Not a good place for elderly. The staff is abusive, the food is horrible and no one in management cares to correct the deficiensies unless the department of Health gets involved. (see health code violations) The have a virus C-dificile running around and they don't tell you at admittance. If you catch the virus they tell youi that you shouldn't have come to Parker since they post a note on the front door that they have an uncontrolled virus in the facility. Of course patients come into the facility frpom LIJ hospital and not through the front doee so they really have no plan to inform incoming patients about the deadly virus.
