I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Don't be fooled by the shiny object. High end accourements, chandeliers, movie theatre, "bistro". It looks nice compared to other facilities but i can assure you it's just like every other one. The staff greets you and kisses your butt, but the "care" is mediocre at best. The staff talks to the residents like they are retarded. Most of they are bright and have lived full lives. When a resident complains about an issue(s), the staff is quick to dismiss the concern as the person is old and they don't know what they are talking about. My main concern of many is that of the resident(s) mental health. My family member has had an ongoing issue with an orderly or someone that assists with getting dressed. The family member has stated several times over the course of 5 weeks abou5 this person. A visiting family member has voiced the concern to management yet the issue still exists. My family member is agitated and annoyed which is outside of their normal demeanor. The Bristal has made no attempt to rectify the issue or remove the problem employee. The physical care is another story. I feel that they provide the bare minimum of care . If my family and I weren't as present and involved in this process, I wonder how poorly my family member will be cared for. This is more like expensive long term stay motel/hotel with some bells and whistles to sell the family on, lure people in and take their money. You are better off for less money to get real help with home.health care

Room is great and cleaned daily, nice large private CLEAN bathroom. Staff in the memory care unit is friendly. Front desk friendly. Mom gets her hair done and looks well. She is well looked after and SAFE.

I visited this facility

I visited The Bristal at Mount Sinai and everything was beautiful. I don't have anything I could say bad about the place, it's very nice. The woman we met with was terrific, she toured us through the whole place and sat down with us, and explained the fee and everything. She showed us a room, and we were able to walk around the facility to get familiar with it. It's a beautiful place and the landscaping is very nice. It seemed to have a flow to it. The dining rooms and the other rooms where the activities were, they're pretty much close to each other. So people wouldn't forget where it was. They had everything you can think of.

My mother is at The Bristal at Mount Sinai. The staff is very engaging. She has no complaints. She's in memory care. For the most part, the staff is very caring. You find one or two that are not as good, but for the most part, they're all very good. She said the food is very good. The facility is beautiful and brand new. She gets physical therapy there. They have a gym, a dining room, several courtyards, and a movie theater. It's very nice. It's expensive, but I'm paying for it for a reason. We're getting what we're paying for.

Don't let the beauty of this place fool you. When you have to call several times a week to get a resident some help with basic hygiene it's a problem! Not to mention errors with prescribed medications and therapies. There are certainly a few wonderful employees there, but they can't seem to keep many of the good ones. Those in charge are inadequate.

I visited this facility

The Bristal Assisted Living at Mount Sinai was very nice. The lady who gave us the tour was very helpful, spoke directly to my father, and answered any questions and concerns that we had. It was very well laid out, organized, and the help that we needed for my mom was there. The apartments were lovely. The facility was very clean, it was relatively new since they just opened a year or two years ago. Everything was modernized, updated, and very accessible. They had a lovely movie theater room, they had a arts and crafts room, a game room with cards and billiards. Outside, they had plenty of courtyards with nice furnishing and they had shuffleboard outside, which appeals to my dad. They had the doctors on site which was wonderful. The dining room was very, very nice, it was very classy-looking. It's just the price, it was quite expensive.

My aunt has been staying at The Bristal at Mount Sinai since last week. It's a very clean place, new, and the people there were very nice and very caring. Their communication skills with me are great and she seems to be happy there. They do bingos, have concerts, and watch movies. It's beautifully kept and has beautiful gardens.
