I took my mom over to The Courtyards at Bethany Village to visit one of her friends over there two years ago and everything was top-notch. From what I understood on the visit, it kind of cost like it, too. So, if you're on a budget, don't go there, but physically, you got what you paid for. It was really nice. They had a lot of activities for the residents there. They had a little craft fair that they would put up outside. They even had where they could bring their grandkids there and they would set up slides and little kiddy rides for them. The staff was nice and friendly. They had Christmas parties up in their main dining room. It was spotless.

The Courtyards at Bethany Village was very modern and very organized. Our visit was very good. The lady there was very informative. She knew a lot about the whole process and I liked her. She was good. The rooms were very nice, roomy, and very updated. The dining area was quite nice. It's a very up-to-date facility, and everything I saw was very good, very well maintained, clean, and nice.

We toured The Courtyards @ Bethany Village. We saw a memory unit there, but they require certain ambulatory abilities, and my mother isn't appropriate for that. She just isn't up to it physically. The room would be probably just the right thing. It's a very good size for a single bed. It's got nice, covered space and drawers. The bathroom is very handy. It's relatively small, and it's not a double room, but it would have everything that my mother would have needed there. We're also glad it did not have a kitchenette, because, in memory care, we wouldn't have trusted her with anything that's heated up. So, it's good that there's no small kitchenette; that would have just been inappropriate. They have a courtyard, and they are located next to a big natural area and an old orchard. They've got a pond, so the landscape looked very inviting. We didn't get to go out and around, but they said that they did have outdoor paths. Melanie, our tour guide, was very pleasant and very understanding of what we were looking for. She described all the amenities and had whatever papers we'd need right away. She was just very gracious and welcoming. We were there at 3:00 PM, so it wasn't a mealtime. I believe they have three meals. We saw the dining room, and it was very lovely. It's a very nice dining room. The smaller rooms for puzzles and stuff were very nice. Everything was very clean. The entryway was inviting. Each unit was relatively small, I think it was 15 rooms per section. I was just picturing mother coming out and looking down the hall, you could see the end of the hall was a window. So, I just got the sense that if I were a memory person, it didn't seem overwhelming that it was going to be an unending hallway.

The Courtyards at Bethany Village was very nice and adequate but very expensive. The person who toured us around was excellent. Everything looked adequate. We observed an exercise class and the downstairs day care.

The Courtyards @ Bethany Village was nicely kept and convenient. The staff was friendly. The grounds were excellent. It's near the highway and not a long way from our home and our children. There's nothing exceptional, but it was nice and reasonably priced.

I visited The Bethany, and I will not recommend it at all. My mother has Alzheimer’s so I went to the second floor Alzheimer’s unit. The elevator can only fit one wheelchair. It smelled of urine too. It was very dark, I did not like it at all. I did not like the rooms; the rooms were cold and clammy even they were painted in white. I just can’t see my mother there. I expected that if anybody still has any sense to them and they’re not to the point where they have no idea what’s going on or they have a little bit of what’s going on, it would be a horrible place. Also, the Alzheimer’s unit is on the second floor; it should never be on the second floor.

My grandmother has had two stays at Bethany Manor in the past six months. My entire family was horrified by the conditions in this facility. It is truly one of the most disappointing and depressing places to have to be! There are very understaffed and the majority of the staff they dohave are not well trained, welcoming or attentive to residents. Grandmothers, grandfathers are just plopped in wheelchairs, left alone for long periods of time. The hallways are crowded at all times, creating safety hazards. The entire facility smells of urine. It is so incredibly sad to me that this is how we treat our dear elderly. The facility is also unsecured. There is no one at the door to acknowledge or screen visitors. If you can avoid this facility for your loved one you should. We tried but there were no other beds available in the county. Bethany should do all it can to correct issues immediately

In general, I felt this home was of a very good quality. Medical staff was of average caliber, and food was not bad. Facility cleanliness was good, and the staff was of a very high caliber. The staff was always so friendly and knowledgeable, helpful and informative. Events for residents were well organized and engaging, and my relatives never complained that they were not being socialized or attended to. I enjoyed attending these activities as a guest, be it wheelchair aerobics or movie nights or the performances of local bands. They also had a wonderful program where relatives of residents could come for a large Christmas dinner, where the food and atmosphere were excellent. I hope that these such events are expanded for holidays such as Easter and Thanksgiving, as I know my relatives greatly enjoyed the occasion, even if they were unaware (Alzheimer's) of the reason behind the event.

Both of my grandmothers stayed at this facility during the last years of their lives. Members of my family visited them often and we were always pleased with all aspects of their care. The facility was clean, organized and the staff was friendly and caring. There were many activities for my grandmothers to participate in and, while they were mobile, were given their freedom to leave their rooms and socialize. There were many horror stories about the staff at other nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the area so my family was very happy that we were able to get my grandmothers into this exceptional assisted living center. The staff was there to make sure that they were taken care of, that they ate their meals and took their medications. At the same time, the assisted living section did not seem like a nursing home, but more like a hotel or apartment which definitely helped to make them feel independent.

I have worked as a volunteer at the Bethany Village, and I find it to be a fine place for senior assisted living. It has a clean, quiet, and professional atmosphere. Throughout my time in the facility, I never saw any sort of abuse or neglect committed against the residents: the staff took such matters very seriously. Occasionally, I would sense a lack of compassion among the staff, but as a whole, the residents were treated with care. The nurses knew virtually all the residents by name, and when I asked the residents if they liked it at Bethany Village, the response was, as a whole, quite positive. Many times a month they are taken to fun off-site places, such as museums and the like, for some time away from Bethany Village. After volunteering in Bethany Village, I would recommend it to anyone in Horseheads who is looking for an assisted living home.
