The owner/manager and the staff are wonderful, caring and friendly people. I have never been in there where I have not heard laughter or witnessed interaction between staff and the residents. There are all kinds of fun activities, great home cooked meals. Holidays are spectacular and are open to family. Sheryl does take in residence with dementia and opens her doors as well as her heart to those that are turned down elsewhere. I have witnessed Sheryl taking her own money to pay for depends or a co-pay when a resident has no money. The home is furnished like a home and the residents interact a lot. They love the staff and the staff love them. They have a beautiful setting nestled among the Mission Mountains, a great big yard for BBQs. Closer to home is just like the name, they are treated and provided for like they would be in their home and are loved like family.

Closer to Home was a very nice attractive facility. It's clean and has a homey and warm feeling. The colors, aesthetically, were very pleasing. The rooms were somewhat small and you share a bathroom with the adjoining room. It has a fair-sized laundry area and fair-sized shower facility room. However, they just have an assisted living license, nothing further than that. They were not licensed to have Alzheimer patients and full care. They take the ones that are mobile enough to go shopping and to go downtown on occasion. The security was pretty good. They were mobile for the most part, but there were a few residents with mental disability or dementia. There was not much smiling. The kitchen was sparking clean and it certainly had the capacity. The fridge was full and it was well laid out and kept clean. The building was very nice and the facility was very nice overall. I had some problems with the administration, but the staff members I talked to were pleasant.
