"We toured the Highgate at Great Falls. My sister and I appreciated the professionality of the communication executive there. She was very friendly, open, and directed our conversations to things we needed to talk about; my mom's needs, her medical needs, her daily living activities, and the things that she can do for herself. And then she talked about the various apartment type living situations that people are living in and how different residents have set up their apartments for different things. And then she took us into several different apartments with the permission of those residents to see how they had set up the furniture to make it a home type of thing and different ways to do that, the accessibility of the bathroom, and just the monitoring. And then, of course, one thing that was pretty unique to this Highgate facility is they've implemented an electronic system where, it's a video system, kind of a sensory system, where if the resident goes below two feet or something, it sets off an alarm, and then they send someone to check it out while the other person up in the office activates the video to see if that person might drop something on the floor looking for it, or they have fallen. It just sounds really remarkable that it shortens the time on getting those people help, it just makes it quick; the ones who are falling and getting them to the hospital or discovering that there was one gal was praying on her bed immediately. So, that was important to us. And then they have lots of activities, various activities from daily devotionals, to exercise, to different crafts, food, and cooking. It's a real pretty place. They've got the ground's looking really, really nice with flowers, and it's well kept. They have to have a lot of windows because I think it feels like it's not an institution, that it's, apartment assisted living. The apartments looked good, they looked clean, bright, and a resident can change it up and make it different."

"We chose River's Edge Assisted Living for my mom. It's a great big log home, it's beautiful. The grounds are also beautiful, and the rooms are nice and big. It's very homey. The staff is good, they've been for a while like years. It helps with my mother's dementia. They have home-cooked meals, they try to do different little activities with them, like they have a movie night, and somebody comes in and play music for them. My mother likes the food because it's home-made food. The dining area is just like your dining room at home, it's nice. They also do her laundry and do her bed, they also have game nights."

"We moved my mom to The Goldstone Assisted Living. The most important reason was one of my brother's best friends had his father there until he passed away. And he said it was a very, very awesome place. Everybody was well taken care of. There's only 14 residents. They don't let people in. They only let us come in with masks to move her, and they have FaceTime for the residents when they wanna talk to their families. They feed them three wholesome meals a day, plus two snacks. The residents, my mother can ask for food anytime she wants. They're there for them. They're there to help them take showers, to go to the bathroom, to make sure that their meds are coming to them by delivery or whatever. And they keep track of those kinds of things. And my understanding is it sure smelled good, and it looked very clean, and they lock their doors and the residents can't get out. And they test for COVID every single Wednesday for their staff and their people, because their staff of course goes home and comes back. It was the most affordable place for my mother, and it seemed very personalized. She's gonna get personal attention. It's small. They have two activities every single day for their folks. Exercise and bingo reading, crafts and games. They engage their people together to do these things so that they're meeting people. She can have her little dog there, which is very, very important. There is no shared room. It's not a nursing home, but it is a dementia from start to finish when she passes away, unless one of the people in there becomes combative, then they cannot keep that person there. But other than that it seems like it's just the right fit for her. She can walk, she can go to the bathroom, she can bathe, she can take her dog for a walk, however they will help her walk her dog, they will never let her walk alone. She won't be wandering around getting muffed, but it is the first part of dementia care. She can pretty much take care of herself, feed herself, and all that. Her level is assisted living, but they have all the levels. As that person ages, and their dementia does awful things to them, they move on to the next stage. They have a hospital bed, they have walkers, they have lifts on the toilet, they have the whole health from the beginning to the end. They have a nurse, an RN that comes in. Also, they work with the patient's doctors in every level of care that the person needs. It's in a homelike setting or residential area. Does have a little small parking lot, however they do not let people in, but it has lawn, grass, trees, it has a little patio on the front on 9th Ave. and 52nd St. It's residential, it's one-level. So far, there's nothing I can complain about. My mother is happy with the food. They treated my mother so very nicely. On Saturday she came in, she hadn't eaten lunch, it was about 12:30, they just warmed up whatever they had for lunch, burgers, fried squash, coffee, dessert, and fruits. I watched them. Unfortunately, we had to move her in. So we had masks, they kept all of the residents in their rooms while we, my brother and his son, brought in heavy furniture. Then I sat down and filled out the paperwork and paid her first and second month;s rent. And my sister-in-law helped her rearrange her clothes, beauty products, and all of that, and we left. And I had to go back three times with some more things, but I never went in again. Once we were out, we were out. So far, I really like them and the very first day when we were there I watched the gal make a huge, huge green salad for them. They have home cooked meals, fresh fruit, fresh salads, healthy food. So I'm very pleased. My mother said it was good, it sure looked good. My mother is very, very picky about how other people cook. The facility is very clean, very consistently clean."
