"I visited Bristol Manor about a year ago. My grandmother's sister lived there for quite a few years. I would go visit with my grandmother from time to time and it was a really nice place. Most of the staff was extremely nice. There was always at least one person checking on the people frequently. The facility was very nice and clean. There was no filth, dirt or dust anywhere. The facility is a very welcoming place. You are greeted with kindness and smiles. You can tell the people are treated very well. It is a place anyone would enjoy and definitely feel comfortable being or living there. "

It's conveniently located a block from Ascension Via Christi Hospital, and less than a mile from Meadowbrook Mall. It's also easily accessible via State Routes 69 and 160. The aged 62 and over neighborhood campus of Highland Meadows consists of bungalow-style apartment buildings, offering seniors an accessible homelike environment. Each 547 sq. ft. one-bedroom apartment has its own private entrance, patio, emergency call system and external storage space, and the kitchen has a range and full-size refrigerator. The monthly income-based rent covers water, trash collection, lawn care and emergency maintenance services, and there's an on-site service coordinator to assist residents with various community concerns. "I also have had poor experiences with this facility. SOME of the employees care about the residents, however those employees are treated terribly by management in front of residents and visitors. There is an outrageous turnover due to the poor work environment, severe understaffed positions, and incompetent administrators. Upper management does not follow the company's code of ethics, they should not even list them on the website. Residents are not taken care of properly due to the short staff. Several residents have been moved by their families due to the poor care their family members have received. Have you seen how many CNA job openings there are at this facility at any one time? They can't possibly be at full staff ever! If you have family members or friends in this facility, please keep a very close eye on these residents. "

"I visited Oak Pointe of Carthage. It was incredible. That was my first choice, but they didn't have the 24-hour service my dad needed. I would give them a five plus in everything from what I saw. They were amazing people. It was amazing, and the people too. Everything about it was nice. When you walked in, it smelled of home-cooked food. They were cooking, and the smell there was not that bad smell that you get at the other places. Had they been able to give my dad what he needed, we would have chosen that one hand down. They offered home-cooked meals, taking food to my dad, and feeding him in his room. If he needed that, he would have had a private room. We would have brought his own furniture. They offered all kinds of activities and stuff. They spent a lot of time with me going over everything. Since they couldn't help me, they helped me to find something and go further beyond them. They even actually called to check on my dad. So, their entire staff, the facility, everything, I just got a really warm, caring feeling about it."

"My Grandpa was recently moved to this facility. He had been in a facility in Grandview Missouri where he was from but we decided it would be best to move him to Pittsburg where he has more family. First off I would like to talk about the staff. The staff members at Medicallodge are all very friendly, and seem to be very concerned about patients health and well being, the only problem is they are usually short handed and have problems trying to fullfill these goals because they are to busy. Next I will talk about the food. This is one area where my Grandpa has stated he is not satisfied Portions are small and they have the same meals all the time. He would like to have more variety and be able to choose from different things instead of having one set meal. Next I will talk about the overall cleanliness of the facility. The facility seems pretty clean but is definetly outdated. They are trying to do some remodeling at the time so this is something they are addressing. One thing I do hope they address in the remodel is the wiring as well. The electrical wiring itself is fine, but when it comes to the wiring for cable TV and satelite it is outdated. My grandpa could not get phone service through the cable TV provider because cable company told us the cable run was to old and did not support the phone and cable service. All in all I would say Medicalodge is an average facility. Really the only time I hear my grandpa talk bad about it is when we ask him about the food, have heard no other bad comments from him. "

"The Bungalows at Nevada had an outdoor pond and places where some of the residents make a garden every year and plant flowers. I would give their customer service, the tour, their meals, and everything a 5 out of 5. It was an excellent place. Their apartments were very nice and very clean. They had new carpeting in every room. You walked in and it was like you're building your home there. It had a kitchenette, a small stove, a microwave, a refrigerator, and a walk-in closet. It was a nice floor plan. They also had a little sitting area outside, a downstairs area where you could play games, bingo, movies, a popcorn machine, and a very large lunch area where people come and eat together. They served three meals a day and you could eat in your room or downstairs. You also get snacks in between. It was all-inclusive. They have a dietician who plans the meal and they got to choose from two different things per day, for each meal."

"My dad is in the Barone Alzheimer's Care Center. I believe they're treated well, and I have never seen my dad mistreated. The gentleman who runs it tries very hard to challenge them every day. My mother is getting updates whenever she wants them. I think they call her a couple of times a week, and she is free to call anytime. The staff loves him because he probably had a quarter of them in school. My dad was a school teacher. The room is like a hospital room, there are two beds in it, and there's nothing fancy about it, because they're easily disoriented. They have activities every day, they are constantly bouncing balloons whenever we get there, and they have trivia contests, which my dad does very well in."

"My mother is now in Community Springs. We're very happy with it. First of all, we can't go in because of COVID, although I really appreciated the fact that they allowed us to have garden visits. I don't get to talk to my mother or anything, but we get to have garden visits with her. They have not had anyone ever come down with COVID yet. They did a really good job. If there's anything they have questions about, they'll call me. We have these wellness visits. We do a virtual talk and I can kinda see how she's doing. They have been really good having all of her doctors and nurses get together and discuss her well-being. I have been really happy with them. My mother is in a shared room. They have other options, but she has to pay for all of these out of her own pocket. She just has enough money. We don't know how long she'll be there, so we got to watch our pennies. They send out a newsletter all the time. They have pictures of them like on their Facebook page. They have pictures of different residents doing different activities. They send out a calendar all the time for us to see what they're doing. When I see my mother through the window, she is always nice, clean, and has her hair combed. They have a beauty shop right there. The staff members have all been really friendly. They're always attentive to what you want to know. I have not had any problems with them at all. They just remodeled the facility; it's in pretty good shape. They have this mother-daughter thing. So far, I haven't been able to go to them. They have been hosting them and they still have them for them, but we can't go in."
