I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother has been at Heritage House of Vicksburg for two and a half years now. The management does not follow through when you ask them for something. They say, 'We'll take care of that' and it does not happen. The food is not meant for elderly people. It is highly seasoned. The facility isn't bad. And I really like the head of nursing in assisted living. She takes care of anything you ask her to do. She goes over and above. She is really good. In terms of activities, they were supposed to have activities seven days a week, but they did not. On the weekend, there wasn't anything, just bingo, and some of the stuff my mother thought was silly so she didn't go.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I have a family member there and that person suffered a broken bone within 4 weeks of being there and as I spoke to other people that is quiet common. The staff does not check on a patients needs unless called.Minimum attention there

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Heritage House may not be as poorly administrated as some nursing homes; but it is poorly operated. My family member who has been a resident for less than a year has sustained more than three major injuries ranging from cracked rib to broken limbs. When the incidents were “supposedly” investigated; the findings which were given by Joyce, administrator were: “We are not sure what events led to your family member’s fall; however, no employee is at fault.” In addition, the staff/patient resident is NEVER correct; as a caring individual, I am better qualified than “most” CNA’s on staff; the staff turnover is unbelievable!!! The lesser evil is still EVIL! Please do research before placing your family member at Heritage House or any other nursing home facility.

I visited this facility

I wouldn't hesitate in going into Heritage House. I went there for a tour, and everybody was very pleasant. I met some of the people, and I also met the lady whose department we went into. They had an activities room.

Visited this facility

Upon my entering of the facility I did not find what I expected. I thought that I would smell the all to familiar scent of elderly neglect. However, I did not. The building had a nice clean scent to it, the floors were clean and so were the residents. The staff was very warm and inviting and they seemed to know all of the residents on a personal basis, as if they were all old friends. The rooms were not overcrowded and were not reminiscent of a hospital room, but seemed almost like a normal bedroom. While I was there I had the feeling of ease because I knew that the staff was qualified and actually cared.

My loved one stayed here

This is the first facility where they sat down and explained to me how Medicare works, what I could expect during my Mother-in-Law's stay for therapy after she had an intracranial hemmorhage last year. They even showed us a video! The facility is very clean, smells good, everyone CARES, they keep the residents clean, comfortable, fed, and happy. I just can't be more appreciative of how they took care of my Mother-in-Law when she needed them the most. Highly recommend to anyone who requires a caring attitude from their nursing staff for a family member, or themselves. This place is Very Nice!
