Elk Ridge Memory Care

It seemed to me that the people at Elk Ridge Memory Care are very caring and they have a lot of activities. Matter of fact, the one day I came there, I was going to listen to a violin duet. One of the people that work there, as well as her sister, was going to be playing, but unfortunately, the one got sick, so they had to cancel it. What they did was they loaded up the van and they took my husband and a number of the residents to the Cup and Cone in White Bear Lake and I was able to join them. So, they have lots of activities there. Lots and lots. They keep them very, very busy and the staff is very compassionate. They treat them well. I've sat down with my husband and they give him treats during the day. He had something like two sandwiches and they had some potato salad. They were not large amounts of food, but certainly enough. Then the last time I was there, they were serving tacos. It's not the healthiest food in the world, I suppose, but they're adequate and decent food. I looked at a lot of places and Elk Ridge Memory Care's price was not outrageous. They have three different levels. My husband's on level 2 right now. The only thing is the room my husband is in is a shared room, but nobody is occupying the other bed yet. It's not like some of the places we went to, where it was exclusively your room. They have individual rooms, but it's a matter of getting on a list to get one of those and when you do get in one of those, you're going to be paying like $1,000 more a month, but I still think, all in all, it's very fair.

The liveliness of the clients or residents seems to be very good. The staff seemed to know them very well and they were also caring. The building was newer and warm, and also very clean. They seem to have a lot of activities for the residents, planned throughout the day. They also have a courtyard in the middle that blocks anyone from leaving the premises and they lock on the doors so it's good security.
