My Mom was placed at Evergreen Terrace last year. She was diagnosed with breast cancer which had metastasized to her bones. She was 82 years old. She was placed in her own room for a while, another woman was placed with her for about a week, who was very unhappy. That wasn't the best situation, but when that other woman went home, Mom was once again in her own room until her death. She lived at Evergreen Terrace for approximately one month before her death. Hospice was involved and helped us out a lot with speaking to the staff when we didn't feel we were being heard. The staff unfortunately had turnover and at times it seemed they were short of staff. Mom was in much pain, and the staff that worked with her were caring and thoughtful people. Because of Hospice, Mom's pain was managed very well. I don't know what other nursing homes in the area would be like, because this is the only one I've had first hand experience with. I feel it's very important when a loved one lives in a nursing home to visit often and to remember that the nurses, nurses aides and caregivers are people too. We're all in this together, and I would never say anything bad about Evergreen because they cared for my Mom the last days of her life.
