"Fountain of Love is only two miles from my house. They seem to be quite friendly. They have a deck and a really nice facility for showers and bathing in wheelchairs and a walk-in tub. Fountain of Love is a small place. My mother hasn’t actually moved in there yet. The staff came in and visited my mom twice and will move her Tuesday. Fountain of Love has a homey atmosphere. The residents seem pretty much at home. "

"My father-in-law is living in Coleman Fields. We picked it for him as it's smaller and had less people, and it's perfect for him since he is not a people person. My father-in-law has a studio apartment that has more than enough room. The dining room is very nice, spcacious, and the kitchen staff is just outstanding and accommodating. They could use a few more activities though. If my father-in-law doesn’t like something they'd fix him something different."

"I visited The Brook of Gladwin. It was good, and the staff was friendly. The rooms were fine. They have different-sized rooms, so you can pick what you want. The rooms are clean, and they have everything that we need. It seemed like it was laid out efficiently. There are a lot of common areas, and the cafeteria is nice. They got games and stuff that they can play. They have certain items that are always available, like coffee, juice, cookies, and things like that. The dining area is nothing extraordinary, but it's adequate. They have exercise time and game time. They have a regular schedule of activities."

"My Grandmother selected Green Acres in 2015 over several homes in the area and never regretted a day. Over the course of a year they had some administrative changes that improved her care and training of the staff. Not only was she always treated respectfully, she had privacy and help when she needed it. Our family wouldn't hesitate to recommend it over other options in the area. "

"New Hope is a small community that houses about 20 elderly people. It is a privately owned center. There is always at least one staff member on duty. The owner is very active in the daily routine and maintenance of the home. The home is very well kept and brightly decorated. The staff explained to me that they tried to do a craft or visit the community center at least once a week with a group of clients. Each client has their own room with a bathroom and special bed that can be raised or lowered. I remember a client who was not very coherent and couldn't stand on her own. The staff helped her to the bathroom, helped her take a shower, and did many other things for her. The staff were very friendly to this client and treated her with a great amount of respect. Routine is very important to this center. All meals are served in the common dining area. If a client skips a meal, they are not allowed to have any snacks until the next meal is served. I thought that was a little harsh and demeaning. I could also tell that some of the clients were very bored. I sat with one client at a table and we talked about her family and children. Then we literally stared at the wall (it was painted into a raised texture) and looked for patterns or objects. Kind of like how you stare at clouds and look for things in them. Overall, the home seemed like a very pleasant place to live. "

"My dad moved into Gladwin Pines. The staff is wonderful, and they go above and beyond. The meals are good, and they make sure he eats if he wants to. His room is a good size, there's an air conditioner, the bathroom is always clean, and he's got windows and a bird feeder. They have church services, bingo, and they have some kind of activity every day."

"The facility has just gone through a beautiful renovation. It is lovely and so comfortable for the residents, The rooms are so comfortable having their own bathrooms and little kitchen areas. I did not eat there, but the food always smelled delicious and I know they gave the residents what they wanted and special treats. The staff were all so wonderful and caring to my sister-in-law while she was there. She was not always easy to care for, but they stayed on top of her needs. The had fun and creative activities for the residence, from music, doing their nails, tea parties, happy hour, and special crafts for holidays. There are outdoor places to sit and the staff often will have special activities or treats outdoors. Mt. Pleasant is a nice town with many restaurants and activities with the college right there."

"I just got out from Gladwin Nursing and Rehab because I fell down and broke my hip. This nursing home was as nice as those at a lot of assisted living places. I was exceptionally pleased with the facility. The staff from day one, calls you by your first name. They acted like they were part of your family. The food was good and you can have a choice of either eating in your room or in their dining room. They also have activities. I had physical therapy every day for two hours and they were good, but they were also very stern. "

"As a paramedic and firefighter/medical first responder, I have responded to all of the assisted living facilities in Midland County and most of those in Clare, Gratiot, and Isabella counties for over 35 years. When it became necessary to find a safe place for my mother to live, I could have chosen any one of the many facilities, but I chose Applewood as THE place for my mother – that was over 5 years ago. I am still as pleased with the care my mother receives as the first day she moved in. The owners AND the staff still provide EXCELLENT care. How do I know? For the few emergency calls they have, I’ve been there at different hours of the day and night; I see first-hand what is happening in this home without any notice. Furthermore we receive updates about my mother’s changes and cooperate with making sure that my mom does not have to go to the hospital for non-emergent issues (unlike many AFC’s in this county). If you are looking for a SAFE, LOVING home (not just a facility) for your loved one, I encourage you to consider Applewood.."

"I've been going to Mecosta County Commission on Aging for a year now, and they're doing a wonderful job. I get Meals on Wheels from them Mondays through Fridays. I get home healthcare from them. They have someone come out every two weeks to clean my house. They're very good to me."

"My stepfather is in Royal View Retirement Community. The place is excellent, I have nothing but good stuff to say about them. The staff is wonderful, they've been very helpful and caring. The only issue I have is that they were very expensive, but they're cheaper than a lot of the other places. It's almost $5,000 a month. The staff is just very compassionate and very knowledgeable. From what my stepfather says, the food is good. They have several activities but he hasn't been part of them. They could have a little bit more outings. They're much better value than some of the other places I looked into as far as what you get for your money. They have a barbershop and an in-house doctor that comes in, which is very convenient."
