"It was okay. Clean, really nice area. People were very friendly. I really enjoyed it, too. It’s right by the hospital. I live right off of La Palma and it’s probably maybe 2 ½ miles down the street. They would have been closer for me. They have a little patio which was nice. I just didn’t think he needed that anymore. I wanted him in a more enclosed area. "

"My mom was at Beach Terrace. It was a very comforting place. The people were extremely nice. The staff and all the workers, they were all really, really helpful and knowledgeable. They did a great job with my mom. They were very accommodating, so it was a good experience. I was really happy with them. The place was clean and in a very nice shape. Everything was well taken care of. They were just very understanding. And it started with the receptionist when I walked in, she's a very sweet girl. The menu was good and the food was good, too. It was good quality. I watched a few of them bowling, and then a church group came in and did worship, and that was good. They had a lot of activities. Once a month, they had something where they invited the families. It was very affordable, and cheaper than most, for sure. There was nothing I wasn't satisfied with."

"This was one of the better assisted living facilities I've ever visited as a student volunteer. The institution is divided into two wards: those who need constant medical attention and supervision and those who can care for themselves. Every week, I visited the later ward to provide some recreational activities. Each of the residents gets their own room and bathroom, which they decorated with their personal touch. The overall atmosphere is a gentile and friendly one. A few of the residents gets upset or depressed because they haven't seen their family in a while. But some of the residents who have lived there longer try to cheer them up by inviting them to tea or some recreational game. The supervisors always make sure that the residents have something to do most of the time. They have an aviary with some of the most charming singing birds, and a rec room with musical instruments and books. I understand that to upkeep a facility like this one comes at a considerable costs, which is the main compliant I've heard from other families. But, their loved ones receive the care that they should be receiving from home."

"I like Rowntree Gardens. It is very good. I like the concept. They have shared rooms, which are nice. Also the sliding door to the garden is nice. The dining area is very accessible to the patients. I like that, too. I like the lady who gave me the tour. Each room is accessible to the garden, they just have a walking area. It's very relaxing for the clients. They have a gazebo garden there. Families can visit in that area, too. The building is one level, so that's nice. I didn't see any staff because of the COVID."

"Meadowlark Gardens I was very nice and clean. It was a regular house in a regular neighborhood, and that was what I was looking for. The staff who assisted me with the tour was very friendly and helpful. I saw some residents there in their wheelchairs watching TV. I saw a private room, and it was very clean and very nicely decorated. The courtyard had tables and stuff."

"We toured here, it is a very nice facility. It's a nice old historic building, and they've done a very nice job remodeling the entire interior of the building to a modern configuration. They have studios, 1-bedroom, and 2-bedroom apartments. Each floor has a different kind of care, and each floor has got a central social area that's nice with its own little cafe, a dining room, and a main kitchen. There was onsite nursing and it was a full-term facility. The person who gave the tour was very professional, very nice, and extremely informative. We've observed the people doing a social activity on one of the floors. there was a rooftop garden with a nice view and a library, and the lower level of the building had a gym that they can use for physical therapy. The people were mostly individualized. The person who gave the tour was really friendly and the tour was very good."

"My relative had stayed here. He really liked it there. They were very helpful and kind. He had been totally cooperative, and they have been totally responsive when he was ill and called the ambulance. I was really pleased with them. They have all kinds of programs. They have a huge library. They have field trips going outside the facility. They do the cleaning and the laundry. You could even have a pet there, and I had found nothing to complain about. It was just a really nice place. He has a one-bedroom apartment. It was in a very nice size with a huge walk-in closet, a microwave, a refrigerator, a little pantry, a huge bedroom, and a nice size bathroom. I had been in their dining room, and he liked the food very much. They had 3 meals a day, and you could also go downstairs and have snacks during the day as well. It is very nice. They do provide transportation to doctors' appointments too."

"I liked that Palmcrest Grand Residence had a church service, a gym, and a movie theater. It was just an inviting place. They were open arms when we walked in. We visited the memory care, and the staff there was very polite and knowledgeable about the whole place. The lady gave us a grand tour of the whole place and explained everything about the program. They had a great activity board for the residents. They showed us the lunch room and the activity room. They even had a salon, if you needed a manicure or to get your hair done. They also had a courtyard, where they could take them out to enjoy some sunlight or just relax. There was a room to go and watch movies."

"My friend is staying at Vista Del Mar and she likes it. Of all the places we visited, it has the higher level of caregiving, and they have more caregivers. They have a nice dining room and a lot of activities. The gentleman who runs the place has a lot of experience and he knows me and my friend. The cost is also comparable for what she has. She has a shared, but nice room. It's a very good place and I highly recommend it."

"Home R Us was very nice and clean. The lady there was, I supposed, the one who owns the place. It had pictures of her family all on the wall. The room they showed us could be for two people or one and it was very clean. It was just hot in the room (but those were very hot days, too). The living room had a nice sitting area. It's homey. They only have one big bathroom. The owner was kind of a young woman. She was very sweet and kind. She said they have activities. She didn't specify what they all do, but I saw books lying around and they have a big TV there. They don't have something like taking them out on excursions or anything."

"We went to Brookdale Garden Grove and toured both the assisted living and memory care units. It was awesome. I love it. If I'm in need of a place, that's where I would go. The staff was incredibly friendly, very knowledgeable, and very polite. The accommodations were beautiful and more than adequate. The place was very well maintained. The food looked and smelled fabulous, and it was like going to a 4-star restaurant. It was very neat, clean, very organized, and beautiful, and the furnishings were above what I expected. Everything was in good condition."
