My son is staying in Maison De Lafayette for long-term care. When he was first admitted, he had someone else in the room with him but they found a private room, a single-person room, and they moved him in that. It's a nice room and it's homely. The place is outstanding, it's very clean. It is a huge facility but his room is always very well maintained as well as the surrounding areas. I'm very lucky to be able to put him there. I'm also very well satisfied with the treatment that my son has received as well as the facility and their employees.

My mother was at this facility for over 6 years and had dementia and was bed-ridden.. The nurses took great care of her and we were able to visit any time we wanted to. Community was clean and food was good.

Drugs are not given out in timely manner. Drugs are not given as prescribed. Main hall smells strongly of urine. Food service options are very, very limited. Rooms are not well lit by natural light. Guest are bothered every 2 hrs by someone entering room to check call system.

Maison De Lafayette was an expanded nursing home with a small living area and the beds in the same room. It was more a nursing home than assisted living which is not what I was looking for. The staff was fine. There was a band playing, so there was some social activity.

My mother was put at Maison de Lafayette last spring for what should have been a two to three week stay to gain her strength before returning to her assisted living apartment. Within the first two weeks, she had a reoccurrence of her infection, which weakened her greatly. Unfortunately, before we could get her out, she had two more reoccurrences of her infection. At one point, there were three other patients in her wing that were also in quarantine. I learned that the nursing home was sanctioned by the State for its infection control practices while Mom was there. She had been in Cornerstone’s skilled nursing unit in a prior year and we had no problems. We also had problems with her clothing while at Maison de Lafayette. Within a month, all of her nightclothes disappeared and some of her regular clothing. I tried to speak to the owners/administators, the head of housekeeping, and anyone else I could communicate with. I only received promises and never any returned calls. It is obvious that her clothing was stolen and the owners did not care. I have made Mom a promise that we will never let anyone put in this facility again.

My grandfather has been in this facility for about 2 months and, as far as the staff, doctors, food, living quarters, he is happy. He is very well taken care of, our family is happy with the care he has received. He is less than five minutes from a great hospital. The decor is beautiful, not the stark hospital-like decor of most nursing homes. The dining/common areas are more home-like and less institutional. His room is huge and even includes a "kitchen" area with storage for snacks, countertop with sink, refrigerator and microwave. It really looks more like a hotel suite! There was enough space for his recliner to be brought from home, and several family members have been able to spend the night, which really helped him to transition. The only complaint he and the family had is the concrete floors. It is just that, stained concrete, which I worry constantly about his falling on. I understand the need for easy cleaning, but nearly every resident is a fall risk and bare concrete is very unforgiving. Otherwise, this is a great facility that seems to have it all location, staff, good food, large rooms, beautiful grounds and decor.

I took a tour of this facility in the past year and it was a pleasant experience. My grandmother is going to be staying in an assisted living facility and this was one of the businesses that we toured. Maison de Lafayette had a beautiful exterior and was well landscaped. I loved the set up of the building on the inside. The main nurses station was set up directly in the middle of the building with all of the rooms shooting out in a number of hallways from the center. The staff that I talked with were very delightful and seems very competent. I saw a few interactions between some of the residents and the nurses and they seemed like they really cared. Although we didn't choose this particular location for my grandmother I feel like anyone could trust Maison de Lafayette with their loved ones! The only concern that I had was the location of the business. It is on a very busy street in Lafayette and I didn't like the way getting in and out of the parking lot. We would be visiting frequently if we chose them, and it seemed too far out of our way.
