My parents were admitted to DeRidder Retirement and Rehab October 2024. They loved it. Without me asking they would say how good they were treated. My Mom even likes the food and she is a very picky eater, so for me that was a win, win. I never wanted to have to put my parents in a nursing home but when it was my only option I was thankful to have been blessed with the best care available, in my opinion, in their area. I fully believe the staff adopts the characteristics of their superiors . I observed administrator Chelsea and Julie the social worker show so much love and compassion to the residents. I mention them because they are the ones that set the example that I saw the rest of the staff exhibit. I highly recommend DeRidder Retirement and Rehab.

My mom was a resident at DeRidder Retirement & Rehabilitation Center for about 3 months. She liked the staff there. I didn't quite like the place. I didn't like the looks of it, because I don't like that hospital-type atmosphere. The whole place was too clinical. I didn't feel like it was all that warm. And the people were just wandering around, sometimes just sitting outside of their rooms in their wheelchairs. They did have physical therapy there. They did have occupational therapy and they did well there with my mother. The staff was fairly nice and really helpful. The lady that does all the paperwork for admittance was nice. The cafeteria area reminded me just too much of a school-like cafeteria. We had a lot of problems during that time because that was also when there were a lot of COVID cases. The place was shut down a lot for us to be able to go see my mom. They did have activities because mom had a blast playing bingo. The living room area where people can sit and watch movies, just seemed cold to me. Even though they're friendly, it's just not the kind of place that I would want to spend the rest of my life with.
