I was at Parkside Homes over 16 times during the course of my mother's stay. I would be at the facility almost all day on Saturdays and Sundays. The building was modern and clean. My mom had a private corner room that received lots of sunlight. There was a sitting area, a private bath, and a nook for the bed that was separate from the sitting area. This made it nice since the bed wasn't right in the middle of the sitting area. The facility also had 4 larger sitting areas out in the common areas. While the bed was provided and a small bedside cabinet, the rest of the sitting room furniture had to be brought from home. We brought mom's recliner, some other chairs, and a table for the TV. This made the room feel more like home. What I especially liked about the facility was that they let my mom's dogs come to visit her. This was very important as mom lives for those two little guys. The staff were always courtest and helpful. My mom would get frustrated at times because of the rule that she had to be assisted by an aid when she used her walker. I recognize that this was a safety issue. She also got frustrated if she had to wait very long for an aid to come assist with something. But I saw that this only occurred when it was a busy time before meals when the aids would be getting everyone ready to go to the dining area. The food served was very tasty. I usually ate my meals there with mom. There was always a choice of dishes, salads, and deserts. Mom also enjoyed going out to the patio at the back of the building to have a change of view and some fresh air. All in all mom's stay at Parkside Homes was very comfortable and pleasant.
