"Pleasant Villa Independent Living was very nice, though it's an older building. The person that took me around was very informative, and I enjoyed that also. It was a nice facility also, and I have nothing negative to say about it. They have a washer-dryer facility available, but not in the rooms, and all the rooms have a kitchenette."

"Mount Royal has very nice facilities with fabulous views across Birmingham. The nurses were all very kind to my grandparents and quick to help with any problems. The home features a few nice communal dining areas and a balcony area to tend plants or just enjoy some sun overlooking the city. The meal service is prompt every day and the meals are enjoyable, plus the staff is willing to cater to specific needs or just picky eaters. Different rooms offer different luxuries, my grandparents' having a sitting/TV room and kitchen in addition to the bedroom and bathroom. There is a friendly atmosphere about the place. Decorations are always out for holidays (i.e. Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, Birthdays, etc.) and again the staff goes out of their way to make their residents feel at home. I would recommend Mount Royal to anyone looking for a reasonably priced but nice and nurturing place to move his or her loved ones. "

"My brother is in Regency Retirement Village. He seems to like being there. Their director is very, very kind, and considerate. She stayed there when he was being discharged from the hospital so that I could come and have him admitted that night, which she didn't have to do. It really showed me that they are really dedicated to the people that are there. My brother said they have very nice rooms. It's $2,000, they have their own private bedroom and they share a kitchen, they also have a little common area, and they have everything that you need to cook with. It really and truthfully is really nice compared to the other place he'd been. The accommodations are much nicer. The staff as a whole is really good as well. For a while, because of the pandemic, they were not allowed to eat together, but now they have started letting them go and eat together in the dining room. He doesn't have a complaint about the food. It really looks like going to a hotel, not a motel. They had quite a few activities that my brother participated in; they played games, and they would take them out on different outings. They were doing that before COVID started. They would transport them to their doctor's appointment, they took him to get his drivers license renewed, and he was really pleased with that because he can't drive anymore. I'm pleased with them."

"I love Episcopal Place. They have lots of activities, provide rides to doctors appointments and they serve lunches. It’s just a lot of camaraderie, very nice place to live and maintenance is excellent. "

"I like everything about the Kirkwood by the River memory care unit. There were a lot of activities going on and a lot of happy people and residents. I saw so many friendly staff, they had a chapel inside and it was just very well organized. Even one of the owners was there, interacting with the residents. I met the chaplain and it just seemed that everyone was just super, super friendly. The staff was very hands-on with the residents, very happy in their jobs, and seem to love the residents. They're going through a renovation, adding some memory care units. The rooms were rather small and needed to be updated, and that's what they're going to do. It was very clean."
