My mother was in Monte Vista for 3 months after having broken her femur. Though the building is old and a little dreary, my mother could not have been happier. The staff including the receptionist, PT's and PTA's, OT's and OTA's, nurses, CNA's were all exceptional. They were kind and gentle with my mother. The food was very average as it is in most assisted living environments but the staff made up for any shortcomings. My mother will return periodically to Monte Vista (at her own request) for respite care while I, as her regular caregiver, take some time for self care and rest.

My mother was in Monte Vista Hills for a month. The people were wonderful. It was an older place and they didn't have their own private toilet. The staff members were wonderful. They were great; they were amazing. Even though the place was older, it was clean and it never smelled bad. The food was really good. Other than the bathroom, it was a total 5 all across.

My dad was in this nursing home and it was sadness! He was more or less forced to go there because there were no openings in other places when he was released from the hospital and had to go into 24/7 care. He was scared to be there because the (mental) patients were unsupervised and walked in and out of his room, He couldn't get out of bed on his own. It took 30-40 minutes after he pressed his button for someone to come to his room. We timed it more than once thinking maybe it was change of shift or something but it was not, We complained but was told he could leave anytime. The place stunk and is not a place to put anyone you care about! By the time we could actually move him he passed, Don't let them put your loved ones on hospice while they are here either because then you pay $6000 a month out of your own pocket for a sad place to die!!!

I’ve known a few people who were in Monte Vista. The rooms were really nice, and the provider were on top of everything. My mother enjoyed the food as well as my sister who visited. I would recommend this facility.

The staff at the facility seemed knowledgeable of their duties and had a genuine concern for the patients there. People were friendly and greeted all visitors when they entered the building. The building did seem old and out of date. The overall atmosphere was friendly and inviting. If the building was updated my rating of the facility would be higher. I feel that my family member was well taken care of at all times. Even after hours when the administrative personnel was not there to monitor employees. The dining area was clean. Their menu seemed to consist of a good diet and decent quality of food. The living quarters were shared with other residents which could cause some conflicts. They seemed to have matched people with appropriate roommates.
