"Overall, I was unable to come in for a tour that had a very good conversation with my name, Alek, and I left the conversation feeling very positive for my mom in the future. I'm in the very early beginning stages of research. when I called the front desk, the lady, I think her name was Kimberly, was very nice and got me directed straight to the personnel. I needed to be, too, and it was not delayed... The last time, It was very confusing to speak with, and the information I got from that employee was not clear. I called back in April. So, that tells me good things are changing."

"This was the first time I had visited mom after her move. She was much improved. Talking more, sitting up straight in her wheel chair & that means she is stronger. She told me she happier at memory care than she was Assisted Living."

"My mom has been a resident for a year, and has been well loved and taken care of. Mom has dementia and can hardly remember a lot, but she remembers the staff and the love that they show her on a daily basis. She loves her room that is furnished with her furniture, and tells me at every visit how she loves all of those that care for her. It is never wanted to have to put a loved one in a facility, but to see how she has adapted, and the love that flows through this place, I wouldn't want her anywhere else. A big thank you to Robyn, Erin, Cookie, Chelsea, and all the staff that take such good care of mom, and make her feel so special. Love you all..."

"My grand mother stays at Pike Manor. She is happy and well cared for. She has even made some friends. It is a private care facility and so obviously much better than state ran facilities. The staff are friendly and know all about your family member. They know when they ate and keep up with their daily care so well. I love that they post on FB updates and events. They really try to make it nice for the residents. I am not the caretaker but I know the relieved they are knowing she is well cared for and safe. Thank you for all you do!"

""Molena Nursing Home" is no longer the name of this facility. It is now Molena Extended Care. Molena NURSING HOME was a wonderful place to have a family member, as it was family owned and operated, but the place seemed to have lost that loving, family-like atmosphere that it was known for while it was family owned and operated. "My friend is in Providence Healthcare of Thomaston. She's had problems since she got there about being cold and not having enough cover. The place is old. The floors are old and spotty. The rooms are too small for two beds. The nurses at the desk are very friendly, but the rest of the people do not show much friendliness when you ask them a question. I'm hoping that'll change when they get used to me as a visitor for my friend down there. It's a little rundown. The dining area is OK. I haven't been there when a meal is served, but my friend is not complimentary at all of their food. They have prayer meetings and they have a smoking area for them to go and smoke if they want. I don't think it's worth whatever she's paying. There's a teeny, tiny little closet. They have to share this chest of drawers with their roommate. She's not happy and I'm not thrilled with this place. It's not exactly what we were thinking it would be."

"My sister stayed at Harborview Health Systems of Thomaston. I didn't like anything about it. My sister didn't get a bath there. The staff were mostly bad, but there was one nice person. My sister's room was very old and used-looking. They neglect the patients. She was in diapers at the time because she couldn't get up, and they didn't change her. The food was usually cold when she got it. They need to provide better care for the patients. I would go up there to the front desk, and they would be sitting there using their phones and ignoring the patient's light, which is bad."

"My dad was a resident of Riverside Health and Rehabilitation. Every single time I've ever called because my dad was in rehab for a broken hip there, they have done whatever I've asked and answered the phone every time. The rehab worked out just fine. It was great, the place doesn't smell, and the lawn is kept. They try to accommodate people when they could finally visit, with tents outside and that kind of thing. They just really looked after dad. There is a lady that goes to their room at night and prays with them. I don't know about ladies, but they did have a gentleman that cut my dad's hair. He's also the guy that cuts the grass outside, too. It was like their maintenance guy; he also cuts hair on the side, and he would not take any money for having done that. I chose Riverside due to the closeness of our home, and I have a handicapped mum that I had to go and visit him with through the window. We kept it close, and the hospital recommended that was the best offering in the area."

"We visited Brightmoor. The rooms were clean, not worn out, and well-cared for. There were 2 people to a room. The buildings were clean and well-kept; there were not a lot of grounds, but it was well-kept. There were plants and flowers in places, and they were pretty. The staff was nice, informative, and interested in her job."

"My mom is a resident of Brightmoor Nursing Center. I chose this place because of the cleanliness and the people. I spoke to one of the owners. From what I've seen, they do not use temporary help, everybody there is employed. It's a much better environment than where she was previously. Here in Brightmoor, they kept the food heated. The big rolling container keeps it heated, so, when the patients get the food, it's warm."

"I recently visited Heritage Inn of Barnesville with my son and other members of the 4-H club from his school. Upon our arrival I immediately noticed that most of the residents seemed to be fairly happy and I was surprised that I did not see any residents that suffered from Alzheimers or dementia, like I have witnessed when visiting other nursing homes. I was there for only a short while when I realized the reason for this was because the facility has a separate unit for Alzheimers patients. Out of curiosity I decided to walk over to the alzheimers wing. Although the staff seemed to be handling the residents with the upmost respect and the best care they could possibly provide, the unit was extremely chaotic and loud. The residents were confused and many of them were agitated and angry. It definitely takes a special person to be able to effectively perform his job in an environment such as this and keep a positive attitude. The nurses were very professional and I could tell that this was not a professionalism brought on by the fact that a visitor was watching. It was genuine. I only feel that there should have been more housekeeping staff dedicated to this wing because, as I learned , demented residents can be very messy and disorderly at times. As a whole the nursing home seemed to be doing a good job taking care of the residents there. The place was fairly clean and the staff was welcoming and professional. "

"The Woods was very nice. Everyone we talked to and ran into was excellent. They were friendly and very accommodating. I don't have any complaints whatsoever. They did everything they could to show us around and make us feel comfortable. The rooms were good, clean, and had nothing really wrong with them, except the kitchenette was quite small. The grounds were well-kept. We went in the back where there's a little, comfortable place where you could sit outside. From what I’ve seen, I would definitely recommend them. "

"The best place that I found for Dad was Unihealth Post-Acute Care. It was the best in this area. The person who took care of him during the day really cared for him. She was so nice. The rehab program is really nice. They are not trained to assess. They're trained for custodial care, and people in rehab are trained for rehab. In the wing we were in, they treat them with respect. There is one wing where people are much more impaired as far as getting around, and they wheel those people 2 or 3 times a day for activities. They're really good with that and feeding them. They did a real bath once a week. They had a shower facility, and they would line them up and get them in and get them out, and everybody just loved having a bath, and they had a place where they had their hair done, and the men could get their haircut and shave. They had bingo. They had church services on Sunday that you could go to. They have a movie day. They have something in the morning and something in the afternoon. When they have those little activities, they'll throw them a little something to eat and something to drink while they're doing it. They wheeled him out for that a couple of times. He got to go to the dining room most of the time, but now on the weekend, it's a different story. I'll find him in his bed with a tray over the bed and the head of the bed not up, so he is semi-laying down trying to eat, not nice. So I learned to stay there on weekends, and I learned to stay there for the evening meal every single night because after the evening meal, they are supposed to put them to bed. That's when there's no care because everybody is involved in posting what everyone ate and putting the trays back up. Every single person, including the nursing staff, is in there doing that, and that's when the lights don't get answered. That was the witching hour for me. I had to be there to take care of him at that point. My suggestion there is that they not take everybody off the floor right after supper and have no one there to answer the lights, and instead have one person to answer lights on four halls. I went to see the head of nursing and said Dad was supposed to get his medicine every 2 hours. He should have somebody there to give it to him. He did get his medicine after that. They were very, very kind to me and to him. They would try to keep the same people so he would know who they were. They did a real good job on making sure he wasn't agitated. The nursing home was much more attentive than a hospital. "
