Benton House of St. John was lovely. I think the people that work there were very kind, very caring, and very hospitable. It was a very nice place, but my father is not ready. I just have all positive things to say about them. They're very kind and caring. Even the people that I met on the weekend went out of their way to help me. They spent a lot of time explaining things to me and showing me things, and I really appreciated it. I have no complaints at all. My father had trouble walking and they even were going to be able to make accommodations for him to be close to where the dining room is, so I really appreciated that. They had a calendar with things every day. I was worried if he was there, he might just stay in his room, and the staff said they always go and check on their residents and try to get them involved in things, so they don't just leave them there. This would have been the one that I would've chosen because it was so close to my home and because I really just like it.

As many caregivers can attest, familiar routines can be reassuring to those experiencing Alzheimer’s Disease or other memory loss. But as the saying goes “variety is the spice of life.” Benton House seeks to blend both of these needs through our Daily Life.
In practice this means while certain aspects of daily living, such as dining, fitness or relaxation, occur at roughly at the same time each day, we seek to vary the activities and events within those time periods so each day feels both familiar and fresh.
Ensuring that daily life remains fun and eventful is the responsibility of the Beacon Coordinator, a person dedicated exclusively to the service of the Beacon Neighborhood residents.
