"I visited Avery Heights. I looked into a one-bedroom apartment, which was about 600 square feet. This is an older facility, so the arrangement of the rooms is kind of unique. There are about 113 units there. They had a movie theater, a cafe, and full-service salons. The areas that I saw were lovely. The programming seemed to be good. The people who were there for me were a little bit older and maybe not in line with what I would be doing. Other than that, I don't have any negatives on it at all. It's all one building, but there are hallways, so your independent living is in one area, your assisted living is in another area, and memory care is in another. You don't need to go outside to go to any of those. I was able to review a month's schedule of activities and their food, and what I saw was very interesting and looked fine. When you walk into this facility, it's just absolutely beautiful. It's like going into a museum as opposed to a modern facility. It has beautiful architecture."

"I highly recommend All American Assisted Living at Enfield. My aunt is currently staying in their assisted living facility for respite care. It's very clean and all the people who work there are very friendly and accommodating. I like how they have nurses there, and a doctor comes in, I think, once a week. The food is really good, and they have a nice way of doing meals. You sit at your table, your menu is in front of you with your name on it, and you get to pick what you want, and they bring it to you. My aunt's also eating, which is great because she lost a lot of weight, and is forgetting to eat, so I like it. I've also eaten there a few times. One day, I was there for lunch, and it was a chicken pot pie. The biscuit was on top, so you didn't have to cut through a crust, and it was very easy to eat. I sat with two women who were in their 80s and 90s, and they were able to just use their fork and not have to worry about a knife. The food was fresh and healthy, and really good. There was steamed fresh broccoli for the vegetable, and then for dessert, it was ice cream. It's very welcoming, and just a really good place to stay that is above average. The staff members are right there checking on people, so I have been able to sleep well since my aunt has been in. Anytime you ask them a question and need anything, they're right there and they take care of it for you with a smile. When we needed something, we went and told the desk, and they got the maintenance man to go in and take care of it. I don't really think they have enough activities, though. I had gone to another facility that had all kinds of really good stuff. I noticed that people are creating their own entertainment. Like, there's a group of people that go watch a movie in a certain location, or they make their own group to play cards together. I don't think there are enough activity instructors or directors, so to speak. I also think it's a little overpriced."

"My mom is at Brookdale Chatfield. She is in independent living. We're pleased with the whole operation. They're very good. They're good to her. She seems happy there, and no complaints whatsoever. It's updated and in good condition. The grounds are beautiful. The staff members are pleasant and professional. I like them. Food is excellent. Activities start at 8:00 in the morning, and they end at 8:00 at night, and she can do whatever she likes. They have bingo, exercise, religious exercises, whatever she wants to do, it's available. Everything is expensive, but I think it's worth. I think it is a good value. They have activities all day long. They have a library, they have computers, they have beauty salons, and laundromats, and anything she would need for daily living."

"Colebrook Village at Hebron offers 24-hour nursing care. I probably would have opted to go with this facility, because it's closer to us, but they didn't have any availability when we visited. We toured the memory care area and they were very kind, understanding, empathetic, and very welcoming. It was well-kept and very clean."

"They provided three meals a day, and it was not too far from my house. The staff was very fine and very knowledgeable. They showed me the calendar for a month of what they did. They had an exercise room. They had yoga. They had rider's group. The atmosphere was very peaceful. We looked at a studio, but I guess she's going to be in a one-bedroom. They were a little small, but they did need a lot because they did not cook. The food was provided for them so they did not need a big place. "

"The food was delicious at The Residence. I did not care for the individual apartments. I've never lived in an apartment, so I couldn't tell if they are spacious or not, but to me they were not. The staff that I met was very obliging and very nice, and the waiter there should have been a standup comedian. The dining room was very lovely. "

"The tour was fantastic. The facility was like a 5-star resort. Everything was beyond expectations. It was just beautiful. It was fancier and better than I expected. The staff during the tour was amazing and super friendly. The memory care woman was just the best. They had all kinds of great programs and they're very involved with the residents. It was very impressive. The food was fantastic. The individual rooms were very spacious. They had a common area and different restaurants within the facility. They went the extra length to personalize the rooms and then showcase each resident."

"Arbors of Hop Brook was very clean and very updated. The place was very well kept. The decorations and the interior design were all very updated. It's very nice and very pleasant there. I went with the family, and we checked in. Whoever was at the desk was very pleasant, and that would be the only staff I would have had anything to do with. The food was good."

"The staff is totally unprofessional and borderline abusive; the patients are relatively ignored and herded like cattle. They over medicate and under-rehabilitate their patients leaving them dependent on substances and waiting out their term. I could never get a hold of someone in charge there to formally state a complaint, either. On one visit, I got into the room and my mother was lying asleep. The nurse came in and forcibly woke her. Afterwards, she gave her a collection of twenty pills, some of which she openly admitted were for later in the day, and then made her take them all. Originally she didn't even bring water for my mother to take them with. The home even has a smoker's club where the smoking patients can go out as a group and smoke! Much of my mother's health issues are directly related to cigarette smoking and i feel like enabling people in this regard is against rehabilitation standards. My mother is now home and worse off than she was when she was in the hospital before she entered the assisted living home which promoted high quality rehabilitation services. I would say that this is certainly not the case. "

"Everything was fine at The Ivy at Ellington. It was all new and modern. Everybody was friendly and positive. The dining area was modern and had a good layout. I liked that they take their memory care residents out for field trips every other week. They have plenty of daily activities. They've got physical fitness, crafts, and movies. The staff was very nice."

"I will definitely recommend them to people I know. They had quite a few interesting magazines, which made my time in the waiting room go by much faster. I got an appointment quickly. I've never had to wait too long. Just as a side note, I was very impressed with how conveniently located this business was and how close it was to other shopping centers. It was so easy to find, I didn't have any trouble at all. I was glad that they were located in a safe neighborhood. I've been to some other places where I was scared to get out of my car but not here. The nurses offer a high level of care for patients. My grandmother is treated very well and seems much happier there. They have activities daily and offer religious services often. I would recommend this nursing home to everyone. "
